Elektronic image stabilisation does not work well with low frame rates and slow shutter speeds. For example, starting at minute 3:30, you can see what the software is doing with the yellow ribbon in the background that keeps jumping up and down for no reason.// If your work with a gimbal, you can certainly achiev the cinematic look with action cameras or smartphones.

@JudoSurfer10 ай бұрын
You aren't going to have much control with Timewarp. To reduce blur you need a fast shutter (short exposure). In general, the way to do this without locking the shutter is with Higher MIN & MAX ISO and EV -2. You can also try GoPro Labs and see if setting the max shutter time to 120 and/or shutter angle to 90° will do it, but I don't know if these settings will apply to Time Warp or just video.

Great content. One of the most comprehensive reviews on shutter speed, motion blur and stabilization I’ve found. On a helmet mount, I’ve noticed I’ve been able to get away with slower shutter speeds as my head acts like a gimbal but with the chest mount, I might experiment with a medium shutter speed (1/120) to still preserve some blur while also not compromising the stabilization too much. The more frames per second, the more data the camera has to intercepted to smooth out the motion.

Huge thanks to you. I did not know how to adjust shutter settings for low light shooting on the Max. After some tinkering based on this video, I found the best results of shutter 1/120 with ISO min 100 and ISO max 800. I am so happy that the Max is finally usable in low light without the shaky blur. I tried using a gimbal out of desperation which made making use of all 360 degrees of footage impossible. I did try 1/240 and 1/480 but I kept seeing moving horizontal black bars. Again, much thanks to you.

Best is to use nd with 180° rule but turn off stabilization. Do it in post with gyroflow. Use variable nd to get more accurate exposure.
@JudoSurfer Жыл бұрын
Incorrect. You'll get the same warping/jello if you do digital stabilization in post. The motion blur is baked into the video with a slow (long exposure) shutter. The warping/jello happens from the digital stabilization removing movement, making the motion blur look unnatural.
@hojiqabait Жыл бұрын
@@JudoSurfer nope, warping/jello depends on how you mount the cam. Some can absorb the freq vibe with hard mounting, some need damping gels. Digital stab only works on motion and perspective via gyro data. Sometimes you need to adjust the configs, but most of the time it just works.
