    Johnny you need another year before thinking of the NBA, summer in the weight room and gym time. It's hard to become the man when there are 3 in front of you but look at it like this, you hit some big shots, had less unforced errors than Jackson and more dunks than Dickinson. You and KJ will be the soul of next seasons team

    Furphy take control of your NBA destiny and find the best team fit for you (like Christian Braun and Graham found). Based on mock drafts I don't see that fit. Just test the NBA waters in combine, comeback to get stronger and develop into Christian Braun level defense and toughness. KJ will help you develop that toughness.

    I hope that Furphy realizes the NBA mock draft is always a driving force for kids to leave too early to capture money. But they often get spit out and designated to the G league before eventually going overseas. If he really wants to stay in the NBA, he needs another year or two at Kansas.

    Loved your committment and how tough you always played. I remember how you even played through your brutal back injury last year during March. We all understand this decision was a tough one for you (with Bill) to make because of your toughness and how you never quit (must be hard). Loved how you pretty much won us the regular season last year (both ends of the court). Your shoes will be hard to fill next year ... man how the hell did you step up and actually get 20 PPG with 5+ REB (before injury and produced MORE than Agbaji and Wilson). You also did that with your same lock down defense AND with no bench to rest you. Man any NBA team who gets you will be blessed.

    We (KU) are spending obscene amounts of money on football. Imagine if we were spending over $300 million on basketball instead of football. If we’ve got that kind of money, we should be able to get any basketball player we want. But we are FOOLISHLY spending it to chase football glory…..which we will never consistently achieve. We will never be Alabama or Oklahoma or Georgia or Ohio State in football. Never. But we are James Naismith’s program in basketball. As one North Carolina fan told me, “Kansas is the MOTHER PROGRAM of all of college basketball.” That’s where our focus should be. Look at UConn. They basically don’t give a 💩 about their football program. They are happy with chasing basketball glory. I wish we were that way.

    This is the kind of mentality that has not only held Kansas football back, but has held the entire athletic department back from consistent success for decades. There's no reason Kansas football cannot become a powerhouse in college football, we'll have the best facilities in the conference when the renovations are done, a top 5 living college football coach, access to a national media market, are part of the 3rd best football conference in America, and will have one of the best stadiums in the entire Big 12. Not to jump the gun, but based on roster projections and SOS next year Kansas has a very good chance at being in the Big 12 title game in 2024. There's no reason that women's basketball couldn't and shouldn't be a powerhouse in the world of women's basketball. There's no reason soccer, baseball, and softball with the facilities, donor base, and resources we have at KU. I love KU men's basketball.... but i love all of KU's sports teams just as much. There's no reason all of them can't thrive.

    There is more to this than meets the eye. Kevin is finished at KU. Maybe his thinking is the NBA draft and not being further injured. Self ain’t happy!

  • @wiltchamberlainisthegoat13
    @wiltchamberlainisthegoat133 ай бұрын

    Obviously, none of us know how much pain Kevin is in. IF it were, in fact, about Kevin being more concerned about the NBA Draft, then that would be very upsetting. But I don’t know if that’s the case. I will say, though, that too many of these college athletes are PRIMA DONNAS. Look at how many college football players decided not to play in their school’s bowl game all because they were more concerned about the NFL Draft. These kids eat the best food, have personal trainers, stay in the best housing complexes and the best hotels, yet when the rubber meets the road, they feel they can just walk away like nothing matters except for themselves. I’m not saying that’s the case here necessarily. I don’t know. I want players who care about KU as much as I do. I think that’s reasonable.

    I completely agree. I never expected McCullar to be as consistent as he was AND even higher scoring than JWill or Agbaji when the season started. Especially considering how he continued to be as good defensively as his first year at Kansas AND doing so with zero bench support for him to rest. He only started dropping off recently since his injury but that's understandable given the reduction of practice time he had to experience because of it. I just hope Timberlake realizes he's now "playing with house money" and he's got nothing to lose and he pulls a "Remi Martin" in the Big Dance when he plays in McCullar's place.

    Bill Self only had success because KU paid players to come to play at Kansas. Bill Self was caught red handed for violating rules and was suspended. His players were thugs, and got paid more than other teams were willing to pay. The payments were the only reason why Bill Self had successful teams. Now that the playing field is equal with NIL the true Bill Self is revealed. He's nothing more than an average coach now that he can't buy his players. KU basketball was never anything more than a fraudulent team that paid players. And Bill Self is a fraud. KU is done. NIL has ended KU because now players can earn money anywhere. Bills secret deals caught up to him, he's a disgrace. Got caught, suspended and his championships should be stripped.
