Kendall Rose

Kendall Rose

Hello, I'm Kendall, and I'm so glad you're here! I'm a 23-year-old living in San Jose, California, and I just graduated from Yale University (class of 2024!!), but before I graduated, I had the good fortune to study abroad in Japan on a competitive scholarship, and that's what most of my videos here are about. After a stressful final year of college, I'm back again to share my life, adventures, hopes, and dreams with you all. Follow for daily-ish shorts and the occasional long form video. ❤️
🌸
@itskendallrose is a channel dedicated to personal growth, intentional living, and finding magic in everyday moments. I will be sharing my journey towards a more intentional life aligned with my true desires, the lessons I've learned, as well as some of my adventures along the way! Each of us has the power to create our dream life, and I hope you'll join me on this journey. Things can always get better 🫶

It’s best to focus on you and what makes you happy, and if friends come along that’s good, if they go! They go✨☺️💗I have found that after school or college, a lot of people I didn’t talk to after! Not that, I didn’t try! I just think it might have been more me that felt like friends then them. Possibly, one sided! Or just naturally drift apart! I’m not going to lie! It’s hard maintaining friendships, after school years! ✨✨✨But glad you found someone whilst you were at university, that’s a plus! 🥹☺️✨🥹✨✨

My experience and advice 👇 Okay, honestly, I can’t believe I’m sharing this old photo of me, but I promised myself I’d keep it real. I actually worked throughout all 4 years of high school (starting at age 15), and this was the first job I had- a cashier at a grocery store making $8.75 an hour. I didn’t “have to” work per se (I didn’t have to help with family bills or expenses) but I wanted to save some money before college and, without any family members giving me money, this was what I came up with. I was able to save up $12k before college, with paid for my independent travels, so I can’t say I regret working but…. if I could go back, I would definitely try to do something that paid more than $8.75 per hour, because my time is and was worth more than that. Currently I tutor and also monetize my Instagram theme page @selfgrowth.girlies , and both are *way* more efficient than cashiering. I wish I’d done these in high school. Check the link in the @selfgrowth.girlies bio to learn how I monetize it 🫶 As for paying for college… Yale costs about $80k per year… BUT it (and other wealthy schools) also offer full need-based financial aid to admitted students. Just google “colleges that meet full need” and you can find a list. I only applied to these colleges. Additionally, I applied to scholarships- if you’re in high school, I recommend applying to as many as you can!! As for my study abroad experiences, they were both fully funded by fellowships offered by Yale, one of which was a very competitive fellowship I applied for and received to study in Japan for a semester. I am *immensely* grateful for opportunities like this, and to Yale, because I could never have done these things on my own!! Seek out opportunities. Apply and re-apply. Do things outside of your comfort zone (like tutoring) and take the risk of trying something new (like monetizing social media). The opportunities are there and you do deserve a shot at them. 💗 Sending love, Kendall 🫶

sorry to ask another question, but how did the work load feel in your opinion? I'm a little worried doing 15 credit hours work of work as im also planning to do research for the year im there. I hear from other people who went to other schools in Japan that even though its 15 hours it only feels like a fraction of the work one would do for 12 credit hours in the states. Did you feel like you had a lot of free time? Was the class pressure high?
