I'm going to do something similar in mine without the bed platform. I am also going to cut out homes along the 2x4 and in the base of the drawers housing to lighten it up. Using large pieces of ply like this makes it REALLY heavy and I'm not sleeping on it.

Excellent job matt coming from a contractor I’m thinking and wondering if adding some UHMW along the top sections on the left and right far sides (on underside of the 3/4” ply top ) would help guide and support the drawer - was there a reason why you didn’t

At 6'3 I can barely fit in the back of may 4th gen with no adjustments to the front seats 😂 Looking forward to building something like this so I don't have to sleep next to my gear!

How tight did you get the sides of the storage wings to the interior trim of the car? And did you brace the wings underneath at all? Thanks!

I got them pretty snug! (Cardboard cutouts and trial/error worked wonders). And yes, there are some one inch “runners” bracing the wings

Hi Bill! Honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing. It is still in perfect condition and has had a lot of use. This weekend, I had two grown adults and 3 large dogs on the platform. It is SOLID. I hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as I have so far!

@@billblow5739 Hi Bill, to be honest, this was a bit of trial and error. I guessed at first and then cut it down slightly to make it fit. Wish I had a better answer!

This is the slickest setup for a 4Runner I've seen in a long time. Great attention to detail and maximizing all space. I didn't expect to see a full backseat there under the platform! Suhweeeeeet
