Thanks for shouting this out! I’ve watched your channel for almost 10 years so seeing this was kinda insane. If you haven’t tried sidechainer v3 yet, I think you might enjoy it more cause you can use it more like volumeshaper in addition to RM sidechaining.

saw that you were using the v1.5 of the Borrasca Sidechainer, dunno if that's intentional on your end but know that the v3 got released a few months ago! and it's also free :) been using that since a few months now, definitely changed my way of sidechaining and my tracks sounds much better than before!

Sounds super clean mate. Really like that. I use Sooth2 for sidechain theses days for the same reason, speed and only cutting what's being filled in by the kick and snare. Rm and Sooth are not the same as one is a full band volume drop, but still, anything that sidechains without being able to hear it is magic.

Amazing video! But I have a question. What's the difference between using RingMod for your sidechain, verses a spectral tool like Soothe2 in sidechain mode?
@KallynКүн бұрын
So with this technique the volume of the audio is the only thing being changed, which affects every frequency equally. With soothe, different frequencies of the audio are affected based on their individual volume, for example a kick would reduce the volume of the lower frequencies more significantly than the volume of the higher frequencies. With ring mod, the total volume is the only thing that can affect the sidechained audio
@MarieEidolonКүн бұрын
@@Kallyn Thanks for taking the time to clear that up! I must have got confused. When Dan said "keep as much information as possible from the original signal" (3:31), I misunderstood that as frequency information. Have a great day!
@linussvard6553Күн бұрын
Used to do this for a while but now I prefer creating my own simple volume automation (using utility) for sidechaining kicks and snares. It might be time-consuming, but I feel like I have the most control and can really focus on hearing what I'm doing. Using RM sidechain to make hats flutter (and create space) for kicks and snares is a game changer tho! RM ducking also works amazingly if you want your ghost snares to pop just a tiny bit more. great video btw ❤️ You always bring top-tier tutorials!

I've recently started creating my mid and side signal separately for bass. If the mid signal works on itself the side signal can't really mess with it. I can simply EQ the side signal based on where I want there to be width on the sound. You can even allow some width in the sub frequencies like that without affecting the mono signal.
