I’m throwing out my two favorite live sets, they just so happen to be Slipknot lol. Slipknot Limelight NYC Feb 2000 Slipknot proshot St Paul, MN
You should do a Empty Words deep dive ! That would be interesting.
Its on my list! EMPTY WOOOORRDSSS
Dude Chuck played inverted power chords down at the first and second frets. And while I was typing that you noted that 😂
😂😂😂😂
I always listen to a lot of Opeth, especially the albums Damnation and Ghost Reveries during the winter.
Metallica vs. Megadeth is a tough choice, but honestly if you made me pick only one I'd pick Metallica. As much as I love Megadeth I can't imagine a world without Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets.
Great job on the video! One of my favorite songs in all of metal. I have a request lol. Could we possibly get a video on God of Emptiness by Morbid Angel?
I have one on Rapture by MA, God of Emptiness I will probably do at some point 👍👍👍
@VARVIS_ I remember see the one of Rapture, it was damn good. Covenant is a peak death metal album🤟
Great video man, great song. Please tune your guitar
@@indybingyi 😂😂😂 I only noticed after filming Next time the guitar will be perfectly in tune I promise 🙏🏻
@@VARVIS_ Keep up the good work bro
Daemonarch's version of Bathory's Call from the Grave
Great video, Crystal Mountain was the song that convinced me to check out Symbolic and by extent the earlier Death albums.
amazing work once again!!<3
Fight fire with Fire drums was revolutionary
Oh shit your albertan, fuck yea brother. Thats sick man. Great breakdown.
@@BarrenWasteland hell yeah brother 🤘🏻
crystal mountain is my go to death metal recommendation song for people who’ve never heard the genre. it’s such an anomaly in the sense that is can be wildly brutal while also being incredibly lyrical and instrumentally grand. it pretty much embodies peak death metal. true 10/10
that piano intro :o

24:30 the entire song Evil Dead is basically one riff composed of 16th notes
@@theignitednightmare9894 lmaooo true
I feel it as fast eighth notes but yeah
How long would a not so brief analysis be 😂
@@theignitednightmare9894 I plan on doing a couple on a few albums I really love, probably like 4+ hours 🫠 Just waiting until the weather gets cold here again before I no life a video like that for a few weeks
@@VARVIS_ it would be great, because over in EU we can't do anything during the hot weather
Feuershwanz's cover of manowar's warriors of the world
thank you for this; this helps a lot for my own song writing to really get it all much tighter and thoughtful
As a Christian, this song really hits, religious hypocrisy is highly annoying and makes people hate religion a lot. But I can't help but to think I'm part of the problem to be honest, no one is perfect. Jesus also really harshly judged the hypocrites, any Christian that uses the bible to justify treating people wrong should stop calling themselves Christians. Thank you for another awesome deep dive
Basically you said why you're not a christian but are so attached to christian nonsense you can't let it go
Dark Tranquility: My Friend of Misery (Metallica)
Been getting more and more into death, these videos r great
Absolutely fantastic video. Been loving your content.
This is great I'm going to show this to my dad tomorrow. He's free thinking ex-preacher 70 years old and he loves this shit
19:25 it is a flanger
Christian Mountain
Crystal mountain was the first song i learned front to back on guitar
First song I learned front to back if you include the lead
The riff you mention at 15:36 really is wonderful. What a beautiful phrase.
I'd put Scavenger in SSS, my favorite from TSOP
Holy shit Varvis upload after 13 days hold my boba Jokes aside, splendid intro and this is a masterpiece of metal.
Im back baybee
I love Death but can we all try to put ourselves in the place of the neighbors for a moment? I assume they were Christians (because they’re the only religion I’ve ever heard complained about in metal music. Which has been soooper passé for decades now. I mean, it you really want to be a “badass” try going after Muhammed or the Jews… groups that you may actually suffer consequences from.) who truly believe there is a physical manifestation of evil which is the devil or demons and the long haired neighbor kid is always playing his loud music that scares and your forced to listen to. Would you like him? Or want to be nice to him? So just realize that as smart as Chuck was he didn’t see his own role in the negative relationship with his neighbors.
@@someonethatwatchesyoutube2953 good point, I also find it very passé, but this song came out in 1995 so I give it a pass. But yeah you are right and have a great point, maybe Ill address that in a future video, thanks for the insightful comment man 👍👍👍
As a zoomer, I used to think all the anti-christian shit in metal was super corny, but in retrospect, all those guys grew up in the super conservative 80s so talking shit about fundamentalist christians was genuinely rebellious back then. Even if chuck looks like a smug neckbeard reddit soyjak or whatever by today's standards, I don't think the lyrics are that bad considering that aspect...
Those other groups don't have very many members able to self-reflect, though
You can be Christian and like metal music though, so you cannot use religion as an excuse for the neighbours' behaviour. As for why it's usually Christianity you hear metal bands complain about (and I do agree with you that it's "supper passé", mind you): most metal bands, especially the more well-known ones, are from Western/Christian countries (Europe, North America, South America). This influx of other religions that can cause problems or conflict in a western society (like IsIam) is very recent (the only exception here is Judaism, which has been around in Europe for millennia, but this is a smaller group - lots of people don't have any contact with them and not because they're trying). So while one could (should?) start expecting _modern_ metal bands to start branching out their targets when it comes to criticising religion, you cannot judge Death by the same standards. Also, I do believe that the Western state of mind tends to allow for a lot more non-conformity than, let's say, the Muslim one, so it's not surprising that people in the West represent a lot more opinions (and in a lot more ways/musical genres) in their art/music, and this includes pro- or anti-religious sentiments.
“Notable feat” nice choice of words
that flanger effect in the bridge is an overdub using pick scrapes im pretty sure. i recorded this song once and did that and sounded bang on.
Makes total sense! Cheers man
A briefs analysis….34 min later
Hey it went by super fast for me
We need a deep dive for Hot Dog by Limp Bizkit. The lyrics are absolitely genius.
LMAO
One of my favorite Death songs !love your video man !🤘🎸💀🤘
Crystal mountain is one of my favorite death songss!!😸
19:35 seems to me like a phaser effect, probably added in post-production or maybe directly in the recording with a pedal
Oh man this is my favorite Death song. So happy this video just popped up.
Always happy to see these song analyses in my feed. Crystal Mountain was the first Death song I ever heard and got me into the band. But for all the times I’ve listened to it, I’ve never lingered long enough to pick out the things that make it awesome. You’re right - it hits at a subconscious level regardless, but it’s so cool to go through and see what makes the song tick. Chuck wrote such best music and lyrics to go with it. Keep the analyses coming
Always very interesting videos. I do favor your Death content :) Keep em coming!!!!!!!
Great analysis of one of my favorite songs!
I hope we'll be getting one of these videos for "Break Stuff" by seminal blackened death-doom outfit Limp Biscuit
It’ll have to be just one of those days, ya know?
How about Hot Dog? Such genius lyrics
Maybe Ill do Nookie lol
@@VARVIS_ Boiler would genuinely be a good dive though
I legit snort laughed... And I like LB.
Great channel and great song. Can’t wait. Only feedback is maybe they aren’t “a brief analysis” if they’re both deep dives and now clearing the 30 minute mark 😂 Not that I’m complaining! This is the way.
