The thing is with the TDM's is their ability to do big miles, tour, scratch, track days, commute, gravel and dirt roads and avoid shed time between services. They have their quirks but I've yet to find a bike which ticks the same boxes and won't cost a fortune to replace mine. Their appeal creeps up on you over time. And to be fair, that was an impressive looking back tyre all things considered, no doubt more sprot bike riders were going WTF with a TDM glued to them through the corners.

I have that same blue one . Theyve got a very mechanical feel , like you feel very connected to the engine . Low down power isnt amazing but up at speed on and off throttle in high revs through twisty roads it feels wild . You have to watch not too get carried away and head too hot into a bend or corner . Not the smoothest engine , they all have a funny idle sound at the engine , all seem kinda raw in mid revs and all screaming nicely up high 😂 amazing bike for the price

Got a 96 tdm 4tx (i was born in 97 😅), first bike! must say aftermarket exhausts without the cat, can be crazy loud! Eventually switched back to the originals. Keeping the bike alife and doing as much as possible myself in maintenance, good bike to learn repairs on. And as a dutchie at 1.96m im super comfortable on it. Nice vid!

I have owned one of these for a few years. Very quiet with stock exhaust, you can get a 2-1 exhaust pretty cheap. I prefer twins over I4, more torque in lower register and no need to chase the high revs. Enough power that it doesn't feel slow but not so powrful that you have to be gentle with the throttle.

Hahahaha, thanks for the comment man, you gave me a good laugh. I guess I meant that even though it looks tall, it’s really not. My main bike is a Tracer 900 and the TDM felt much lower than that, even though they both look tall from a distance. 5’11 would have ZERO problem flatfooting a TDM. I think it’d probably be perfect for someone your height actually. Lots of legroom, big comfy seat, and at your height I think the windscreen would be perfect. Anyway, I’m off to ride a giraffe!
