  i remember this; i dont live in taylorville myself, but pretty close to it, and i remember back in 2018 going down to my grandparents basement (as me and my family lived there at the time). it was incredibly scary and i remember going there a month or so afterwards and the damage could still be seen.

  I was at Clinton Lake concession when this came through. A literal white wall of wind and rain coming across the lake. Kind of a butt pucker moment, not going to lie.

  That was one of the creepiest tornadoes I have ever seen. The vortices reaching down were like demonic tentacles from some nightmarish creature bent on destruction and carnage. Terrifying for sure!

  Towards the end, when i get into the car, there is inflow pulling into another area to camera left, that eventually dropped a brief tornado a few miles to my ene near Stonington.

  @@rad1965 Agreed! Glad that no one was injured during these storms. My understanding is that this is only the 3rd time since 1950 for tornadoes in Illinois during the month of January. Super rare!

  That was my 1st January tornado too. Now have seen a Dec, Jan, and a Feb torn here. This area is weird.lol

  Rotation usually weakens north of 72, and east of rt 51, until the cell gets up around i 74. We have a nuke cooling lake between there and water is usually 80 to 90 degrees. Seems to kill storms.
