Interesting test. I have seen the dometic compressor being less efficient than the secop danfoss compressor. By how much I cant recall. But then again you are running the freezer. When I tested my ecoflow just like your model on my iceco jp40 pro only using it as a fridge only not as a freezer it lasted over 3 days. This was in a controlled ambient temp of about 70 degrees. Fridge was set to 34 and filled with canned drinks and capri suns. The drinks were also already pre-chilled Your igloo is also larger so im sure the amount of space it has to cool has to do with it sucking up more power. But when I go camping I use my 2048wh solar generator to power my fridge anyway. Still need to see more of how the igloo does before i decide whether or not I'll buy it.

@ncoreas1 yeah over 80 quarts is a big boy. I mean with the dometic compressor, why even buy a dometic? I’m curious will a 100w solar panel with a river 2 non pro will be enough to keep the igloo cooler going overnight? And used for a week or a weekend trip? Debating if I should upgrade to the river 2 pro with a setup like yours…
@NuReviews-DIY2 ай бұрын
If you are planning to run a fridge and charge up other devices, I would say go at least river 2 pro max (500w capacity) over just the river 2 (256w). River 2 pro gives you 768w capacity, so that would be about 3x the size of your river 2. So based on my tests and it’ll probably give you approx. 8 hours continuous power before it dies (depending on weather), but your solar panels will help (assuming there is sun). You also have to remember if you use 110w panels, you may not always get the full 110w, 22% of loss energy is normal so you may be brining in only 80w or around there. It all comes down to your cooler and how much energy it uses and what other appliances you see planning on running. Hope this helps

I planning to get the same cooler you have, as my local Costco has the same one for $699 also. Maybe it will be better just to get the river pro 2…

Hmmm, I have not heard that issue before and I never had that problem either. Only thing that comes to mind is making sure your battery protection level is set to medium/high when connect to your cars 12v, and make sure it can handle at least 10amps as rated on the cable (approx. 120watts). Although that is what the cable recommends, it realistically only uses about 40-50watts, but maybe the initial startup or pre-chill, it uses more watts up to that 120w

It runs on AC/DC power, it can be plugged into a wall outlet or your cars cigarette port. I use a power station to power the cooler when going off grid while camping
It will use less power when full and also precooled. I got 36 hours out of my River Max (576Wh) on a DC compressor fridge set to 4 C. Ambient temps inside were 20-22 c The fridge I use is an Alpicool 25K
That is correct! If it’s prechilled, it will draw less power, and ambient temperature plays a huge role. Size of your cooler will also be a factor on battery life. Bigger cooler, will draw more power
Thanks for the videos - Did you also get the EcoFlow w/ included solar panel from Costco? If so, were you able to connect the solar panel to the EcoFlow without having to purchase a separate adapter?
Yes and yes, everything that came in the bundle from Costco for the Ecoflow was included, didn’t need to purchase a separate adapter
Thanks for your great reviews! I just bought it. Only thing I can’t figure out is what is the bottom light next to the power button for?
It’s an indicator when the cooler’s compressor is running or not. So when it hits your targeted temperature, you’ll see the light turn orange. Hope this helps !
Hi! Mine has 2 lights next to the power button. The top one is green when it’s running and orange when it hits the targeted temp. But the bottom one is the one I can not figure out what it is for.
@@freshpow8 top is green when compressor is running, when it’s not running the bottom light will show orange :) hope this helps
I think I saw a red light... any reason
I’m curious will a 100w solar panel with a river 2 non pro will be enough to keep the igloo cooler going overnight? And used for a week or a weekend trip? Debating if I should upgrade to the river 2 pro with a setup like yours…
I bought one, had it for a day inside, all was well. Moved it into my Jeep for one day on 12v power and the internal fan bearing went and sounded like crunching when turning! I returned it and got another. Have you heard of this issue?
Hmm, interesting, no I haven’t had that issue at all. Did you make sure the battery level protection was set to medium/high?

Hmmm, I have not heard that issue before and I never had that problem either. Only thing that comes to mind is making sure your battery protection level is set to medium/high when connect to your cars 12v, and make sure it can handle at least 10amps as rated on the cable (approx. 120watts). Although that is what the cable recommends, it realistically only uses about 40-50watts, but maybe the initial startup or pre-chill, it uses more watts up to that 120w
Just say this at Costco for 799 I think looks like a good unit. Thanks for the excellent reviews.
Yes, my local Costco has it for $699, igloos website sells for $1000. Glad you liked it!!
how long would have lasted if you were at temperature with the cooler before plugging it into the power station?
It took about an hour to reach the temperature I set. Once it’s at temperature, the compressor would turn off and on when needed about 2-3 times per hour. If I were to guess, it’ll probably give you another hour to hour and a half more, depending on outside temperature
What’s the dimensions of the cooler
19.49 inches tall x 34.41inches wide x 17.6 inches length
@@NuReviews-DIY 17.6 wide and 34.41 long?
What was the outside temperature? Since the vehicle was closed up, how hot was it inside the car?
About 75 degrees but the night was colder around 60s . I’m going to test it during summer and leave it outdoors with the sun hitting to see how it’ll do, but at that point using solar panels would help it never discharge (ECOFLOW)
So does this have its own built in battery also? Or does it have to be plugged into a power source?
Has to be plugged in a power source, either DC or AC
Where did u buy the igloo?
Picked it from my local Costco but you can buy it from igloo’s website!
Amazing!! I love it
just bought it, Thanks for your review
Hope you enjoy it!
Super helpful. My River 2 Pro should arrive today and I'm headed out for a several day trip to Big Bend National Park. I need it to run overnight while I'm backpacking so 24 hours will get me there with time to spare. I'll have a 100W panel tied in as well so it should run nearly indefinitely with that included.
I’m glad it helped brother! Enjoy your trip!
Ahhh a 5610 thats a very reasonable person.
?
@@NuReviews-DIY your gshock model.
Lol
amazing product !! loving your reviews very thorough. God bless your family and we hope to see a vlog of your camping trip
can u plug in n out every time u want?
What do you mean?
@@NuReviews-DIY I think they mean could you disconnect and reconnect it should you need to move the setup.
It would be interesting to see if your math matches a real world test. Fully charged battery, some stuff in the cooler, and see how long it runs without being charged.
I’ll be posting that test tomorrow, stay tuned!
@@NuReviews-DIY Nice. Interested to see the results of your Costco Overlander's Special.
great video !! I honestly appreciate you going through the whole experience of putting these devices together, and the size comparison was huge. It’s definitely a quality but hefty fridge, but doesn’t draw too much power so it’s super nice! will definitely buy one now. question: can you fit more non-compact things like a Yeti? how heavy can it get with things in it?
The cooler itself weighs about 64lbs with nothing inside of it. I do wish I had some wheels to be able to cart it around, but it definitely feels the the plastic is made of high quality
Would be interesting to see 24 hour consumption once it is at temperature. Thanks for posting what you did.
I’ll be doing that soon as well, I’ve uploaded a part 2 testing it with my power station and some solar panels
Just went live if you want to see my 24 hour test!
How many watts a day does it use? I have a jackery 500 and wondering how long the jackery would last?
It uses about 45-55 watts , once it hits the targeted temperature, it drops to the lower to mid 40s.
just uploaded a new vid
Mine lasted exactly 48 hours when pre chilled on household power. Using a Jackery 1000. One side set at 32 smaller side set at 7
