    Getting into sax and this video really helped, had an idea and wated to run it by to hear thoughts on it. I keep 2 silicon packets in my case to keep the sax dry and the case as well, still seeing if it will do anything to it.

    I used to do that as well, mainly because I live in the south and it's humid. Honestly, though after trying it for a few months I couldn't tell any difference and really that's what the pad saver is for as the horn should be completely dry before inserting the pad saver anyway. The main thing is drying everything thoroughly. I've even started using these "spit sponge" cloths as part of my drying process www.amazon.com/Sponge-Saxophone-Dual-Texture-microfiber-cleaner/dp/B07Z8JCBG3/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1HIBUHWOW8TYY&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.5E4h6x7ahaIp7mYvgI5Q-uvxjTj_Kvate-nPdWlv3gIAZl45Mo3zowlLCcB-QsolVWBL7vwLR3FfuKgaeAioLdVrTDLW8S-Jbo0tJquzpXyjx1pt816hioLwdggSJziVV8Skgok1en1zkSL-IPV2-suRYLPlM5fYgveXMzCnTS_bJog9skJgQRv8q3fOZhfGzmjXflCfUAPvXZ_JpaJE8yLcWmX0xNGqo1Pk2K_bAxXn8x_JcFi_-F8whHmkOAUxW_jKgKmhYU_osPcwpyvfEmYNlcobVWslHzzK5H_2e6I.ENKeHi2PYUkAPgp7hR8Q5bVr9TO-KZKwV1bl9P2xPBc&dib_tag=se&keywords=spit+sponge&qid=1720191794&sprefix=spit+spong%2Caps%2C157&sr=8-1 They allow me to get any water off the pads after swabbing. Hope that helps!

    Not really, that's when it's time to get a new one. The only thing I could suggest is trimming the tip it like you would a cane reed, but I haven't had good luck with that.

    thanks. Neither of them were for me, personally, but wanted to show the differences. I prefer Legere on soprano and on alto and tenor now I use Silverstein Ambipoly (though they took some getting used to) There's so many synthetic options as I see why Different horns and mouthpieces (and players) respond differently to them and there's so many variables. I finally found the sweet spot in my set up, but it took a lot of trial and error. 🎶

  • @ChrisGodbersax

    Only if you're DJ'ing on the beach or in some isolated area with no power in which case you'd want 2 of these. The bass is decent for an 8" woofer, but if power isn't an issue then there are so many better options for DJing. This is a nice little unit for what it is, but when I have power available I use my EV Evolve 50's.

    I've seen a lot of cheap IEM stuffs having issue with low end (40-50 Hz) and dynamic headroom on the bodypack. I hear insane representation of the low end in your recording. Is the recording test made from the bodypack itself or the headphone out of the transmitter?

  • @ChrisGodbersax
    @ChrisGodbersax3 ай бұрын

    the distance test in the back yard was coming out of the bodypack headphone out transmitter as shown, plugged into the camera mic input - that track was a lo fi copyright free track with record fuzz added to the music itself - not the best track to use for a demo, but I didn't notice the lo fi record fuzz until editing as I just picked a random copyright free song here on youtube. I left it because this was not an audio demo, but a distance demo to show that it wasn't going to drop out on stage use. The original song I used when playing my sax was recorded out of the rear transmitter itself so that I could hear using the bodypack.

  • @jerff
    @jerff3 ай бұрын

    Nice review! There was some static in the audio used for the range test, can’t you link the track used for the test? Or can you comment on whether or not the static was a lo-fi effect used on the track?

  • @ChrisGodbersax
    @ChrisGodbersax3 ай бұрын

    Yes just to clarify that was some sort of "lo fi" copyright free track I found real quick as a last minute idea for the video and though I don't remember which one it was now "lo fi" was in the title and the vintage record crackle sounds you hear are in the track itself. The only static that was present from the unit was around 5:42 when I got to the back of the fence line well over 100 ft away. It's about as clear as any high dollar SHURE unit I've used, but no doubt some of that will get lost between the unit and the camera, this test was more to show the distance and that it's not going to drop out on you while moving around on stage. Thanks for watching.

    "Peak Wattage" is a very misleading, totally irrelevant, fabricated spec. It has no real, standard, useful meaning, whatsoever. It's basically said how much power someone managed to put through the system for an entirely arbitrary period of time (chosen by the tester) before it blows. This can be as short as 1 millisecond, or even less. Unless you are planning on powering the speaker for less than a tenth of a second, this provides no information to the end user. A speaker could be rated at 15,000 peak watts (because it took 15k watts before catching fire after 0.1 milliseconds, but only handle 25 watts for 10 seconds before blowing up! Continuous or RMS (Root Mean Square) power ratings are also often fudged by manufacturers, but are at least a bit more indicative of actual performance. It's telling that Gemini now rates the exact same WRX 900TOGO as 2400W peak, and 250W(LF)+50W(HF) RMS, just showing how inconsistent and essentially useless these numbers are, even from the manufacturer!

  • @ChrisGodbersax
    @ChrisGodbersax4 ай бұрын

    💯Exactly, that's why I brought it up at around 8:10 Also because each online description of these say something completely different. In my experience the RMS is about half of whatever they list the peak as, but not in this case as online it was listed at anywhere from 2500 - 3000 wts as peak which I knew was bogus at first sigh. All the speaker companies do this, but this was one of the worst exaggerations I had seen. Not even sure where that number comes from as it's clearly not anywhere on the box. However, the 800 wt peak that's actually listed on the box is much more realistic to expect a 400 wt continuous output when hearing it in person. 👍

  • @ManifoldSky
    @ManifoldSky4 ай бұрын

    @@ChrisGodbersax400W continuously would most likely destroy this PA, as it is only rated at 250W continuous.

  • @ChrisGodbersax
    @ChrisGodbersax4 ай бұрын

    Yea I've seen stats all over the place, stating even as low as 100wrms on the gemini wrx900. I feel like each seller just makes up numbers. If 250w rms is the correct number it's still no wonder it's louder than the JBL compact that's rated at 120 watts continuous. Regardless, the point of this video is to show a bargain battery speaker that gets loud without breaking the bank, that's why I bought it. 🤷‍♂ Thanks for watching@@ManifoldSky
