Welcome to Color Guard Academy. I’m Bryanna, and I’ve been a color guard instructor for over 10 years with middle school, high school, and college color guards. I have had the privilege to learn from some amazing instructors and fellow color guard members who have all influenced my technique and choreography style. However, I know that many band programs do not have the budget to hire full time (or even part time) guard instructors. Part of the reason I decided to create this channel is for it to serve as a resource for color guards without an instructor. In addition, this channel is meant to provide beginners with a way to learn color guard at home, give veteran performers a tool to perfect and grow their technique, and provide a reference of basic skills and exercises for instructors. The art of color guard is an amazing gift to the world, and I hope to inspire and share my passion with others through this channel.

Good afternoon! I am a choreographer from Ukraine. I want to teach children this art. Where can I buy such flags, what standard should they be? And in general, I am very interested in any information for beginners.I will be grateful for help in this matter!🙏❤️
From Bogotá Colombia, thanks for share your talent, you are an amazing teacher, your videos are clearly and funny. Thanks a lot !!!
Thank you so much! I’m glad they’ve been helpful for you! ☺️
At my school we call those flourishes (don't mind my spelling)
That is a common name for this move! ☺️
Those are windmills, back scratchers, or country roads.
Cool names! Many instructors have different names for the same move. Usually each instructor has his or her own unique set of terminology that is important for each guard to know and understand. 😉
As a fairly new coach- some of my teams silk were rolling up and I could not understand why- the epiphany I just had when you explain why. Amazing video. Thank you very much!
I’m so glad it was helpful for you! ☺️
Hello how can I connect with you please
thank you for these videos! I was a sax player and never had anything to do with color guard until my husband got a band director job and he needed me to teach color guard!

These are building blocks and even transitions between one move into the next.
We call it a carousel, in my 8th grade year our routine was mostly these lmao
We call this a toaster turn, for me an around the world means a carousel/backscratcher type thing w an extra spin behind the back. Its my favorite :)
Thats neat cause my school always called it a bagel turn since it stays inside the toaster
I love that name! 🥯
I’ve always struggle with the 1’s in draw spins! This ready helped me understand!

GREAT video! I love the explanations. I'm sending this to my new students who I can't be with on the first day of band camp.
Can you do a video on a windmill exchange?
I love the video within the video. Very helpful. What video editor was used? Could you do one for speed spins?
I use Adobe Premiere Pro for all my video editing. I’m hoping to do a video for speed spins soon! Thanks for the input!

I am so glad I found your channel. My daughter is in the 8th grade and she will be trying out for winter guard and color guard for 9th grade. She has learned so much already
did she make the team ?
Everytime I try this my flag hits the ground I'm also 5ft tall so how would I fix it with it still being correct?
Try holding your arm up a little higher. I’m 5’2,” so I understand!
