Just came across this video. Your slip stockmans bowline knot is the best I have seen. I will always use this knot in place of the regular bowline. Especially for boating. Thank you. Great segment.

Good clips Bro... Can you explain now WHY Wrap thing UP and Tie Things DOWN?? Why wrap Up and Under and Tie Over and Down?? Why does it matter? Curious minds really want to know. Good stuff
@jbitranch2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Gerry. Sure. Happy to explain. The tying down is rather obvious as it's simply the simplest way, but there's a reason for the wrap up. The reason in that horses fidget, and if wrapped down, they can cause that wrap to keep wiggling itself shorter and shorter as it works its way down around the pipe they're wrapped to until the find themselves tied right to their chin and some will blow up. The importance is that generally the reason they are wrapped and not tied is that they're new to tying and prone to pulling back. They're not solid yet. So, finding themselves too short could cause a panic. Of course, that's why they're wrapped and the wrap will give slack and they'll realize they didn't die and in the long run it will actually help their tying confidence, but, if they were wrapped while you were trimming their feet, and you were underneath them for their blow up, well, that could get a little Western on you. So, wrap up and tie down for the long term safety of horse and human both.

Hi, it is a very useful video, I learned a lot from it, thank you. I have quite a few social media channel in China, my partner and I collected these professional and educational videos of horses from internet, would you mind if I translate your videos to Chinese and upload it on Chinese social media, to teach people beyond the sea who love horses how to take care of horses in a better way? I need to keep my channel running so if you didn’t notice this message in 3 days, I will upload the translated video on my channel, but don’t worry, when you see this and you disagree with it, feel free to message me back or email me ([email protected]), we will deleted it as soon as possible. Hope you are all right in this time, and no matter what decision you’ll make, we still learned a lot from your video, thank you and take care.

Hi. Thank you for your comment. I'm glad you found this helpful. Please feel free to translate and use the video. I will be pleased to reach the horse lovers of your country. If you think to, please message me a link to the Chinese version. We have many Chinese students in my children's school and they might find it interesting. Thank you.

I only use a quick release knot, especially when my horse is wearing a rope halter. All I need.
@BigLakeNubians4 жыл бұрын
For the quick release I use a loop in the loose side not attached to the horse over the rope then from the loose side under you go pull a loop in from the left side of the loop and there you be a quick release with a easy one rope fast release for a puller (down side a horse can untie themselves if they see this done for many years our older horses know how very easily!)

The Picket Line knot is also known as the Alpine Butterfly knot. It's a very useful and easy to untie knot, and it can securely and strongly handle tension either from the standing or running ends, or from the bight itself.
