    Yeah, try that on a 700lb cruiser.

    680lb cruiser here, I practice slow speed all the time to keep my mind fresh. Two parking spaces edge to edge, but I I start with a counter steer to get the bike into the tilt, and let it ride out.

    Practice a figure 8 in a 4 parking spots square. You should cross at the middle. If you don't lean the bike enough or don't have enough speed, you won't make it.

    One thing missing is that the clutch lever must have some free play. Also check that there is play when turning the wheel fully left and right. Too much play will give a dragging clutch with lever fully in. The throttle cable also needs some play. If idle rpm changes when turning the wheel, you have too small play.

    I've been counter steering for 55 years. No gimicks, no training, just learn to ride. If you know how to ride any two wheeled vehicle, you have been counter steering, if not you have been falling down or running off your intended line of travel consistantly.

    Right. Unless you're one a 1000 pound Harley, you just go where you look. Things only get complicated when you're doing sport bike things or a tight low-speed parking lot course.

    the street bike and dirt bike world is so different, i used to race and i'm currently still riding motocross as a hobby. i have never had a driving license for a road bike. When i ride street bikes i'm ok with them i can ride them, but corners, i usually find myself drifting or at least sliding rear wheel. Sometimes had difficult moments at high speeds, it turns out, i ride them like MX bike, which is obviously WRONG but i can't help myself not to steer the bike with feet, body and lean bike underneath you,... do you really steer road and heavy bikes with handlebars?

    This is the first time I've seen this exercise done from the rider's perspective. I learnt so much watching you ride, especially the part how you never want to be going straight and are constantly transitioning from right to left turns instead. Thanks and please keep making these type of videos with explanations to hrlp us newer riders to learn how to do these exercises.

    Hp is measured using ft/lbs x inches per second. If you measure the distance, the fly wheel travels per second multiplied by the torque output at that very rpm you can get the HP for each RPM slot. This is how a dyno works by measuring the distance the wheels traveled to get wheel horse power. Hp is essentially a combined equation of force x velocity. On a lawn mower, hp could be measured in the distance the blade travels x the force output from the engine. To your wrench analogy hp would not he the force put into the wrench but would he the ft/lbs force x the rotational distance the bolt has traveled inches per second.The wrench it's self simply acts as torque converter or can symbolize gear ratio. The hp at the bolt vs hp at the handle of wrench is like measuring wheel hp vs engine HP.

    Less pressure?

  • @chrismoody1342
    @chrismoody13427 ай бұрын

    You don’t know what your talking about. A typical Harley has a compression ratio of 10/1. My Kawasaki has compression ratio of 13.5/1. The long stroke of a Harley yields good torque, but low rpm’s and low horsepower. A Kawasaki has a short stroke and therefore runs higher rpm’s easily twice the rpm, but makes not as much torque but more horsepower. Per liter of displacement a Kawasaki makes close to 200 hp. A Harley with twice the displacement makes half or less the hp, typically 80-90 hp. Torque helps a bike accelerate away from a stop, but hp yields speed.

  • @mhoeij
    @mhoeij7 ай бұрын

    Torque is usually measured at the crank instead of the wheel, which makes it irrelevant for performance (except when comparing bikes with the same gear ratio).

    Thanks for the video. Hey, did you ever get plugs for those bolt holes? You can't go around like that; they'll rust in weeks. Seems like they'd come with the risers, and it is that big of a deal; they're mosquito swimming pools. I wondered if you tried pulling (twisting) the existing handlebar closer to you, or that might not be an option? I don't have a Rebel, but I did sit on one and thought I'd like the handlebars closer and thought they were somewhat adjustable. I'm 5', 11", how tall are you, what size are those risers and how much were they? I might consider them for my Eliminator SE, but I'd want those caps.
