My daughter showed me this video, and I nearly cried. My crochet method is just about identical. Taught myself how to crochet by reading a craft book when I was 5 or 6, and never learned the proper way to hold a hook. We certainly didn't have tutorial videos back then. Many times have I tried to learn the "right way," but it just feels wrong. I've absolutely been teased about it by fellow crafters. It's lovely to see that I'm not the only one!

OMG! I am the same way in reverse! I learned to crochet when I was 4 and taught myself to knit at 7, so I've always thrown my yarn while knitting crochet style! (Or I knit continental style for fancier folks than myself)

IS THAT WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING??? I learned to crochet first, but can't comfortably throw the yarn on that way. When I learned to knit I just did the same thing. It's more comfortable for me, I thought I was the weird one!

I am in the same boat. I learned to knit when i was 8 and crochet when i was 11. How i hold my yarn and hok might be wrong to some people, but i can still crochet faster than those people because it works for me

OMG! This is so me! Im an only child, so bored, I taught mystify to knit at 10. And later to crochet. Since ot was only black and white photos then, I hold everything weird. But its not just here. My cousin flew to Russia and one of the little old ladies had to stop and "correct' her knitting. Grannies are grannies anywhere you go.

I learned to knit first, but I don't do a true throw. So, learning to crochet took me a while. I will admit that I can't watch videos of people who crochet with a throw like yourself. My SLD, OCD and ADHD brain can't handle it.😂
