My daughter showed me this video, and I nearly cried. My crochet method is just about identical. Taught myself how to crochet by reading a craft book when I was 5 or 6, and never learned the proper way to hold a hook. We certainly didn't have tutorial videos back then. Many times have I tried to learn the "right way," but it just feels wrong. I've absolutely been teased about it by fellow crafters. It's lovely to see that I'm not the only one!

People in the art industry often say that people don't care how you got there, as long as the finished product looks good. As long as the finished work looks like what you intended, why does it matter what technique you used?

OMG! I am the same way in reverse! I learned to crochet when I was 4 and taught myself to knit at 7, so I've always thrown my yarn while knitting crochet style! (Or I knit continental style for fancier folks than myself)

At least you can!! I’ve had friends try to teach me to knit? And I’m impossible!! My brain doesn’t work right watching people then when I try to get my hands to work ? Nope! 😢

IS THAT WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING??? I learned to crochet first, but can't comfortably throw the yarn on that way. When I learned to knit I just did the same thing. It's more comfortable for me, I thought I was the weird one!

I learned to crochet first (around 7) and taught myself to knit later (13-14). I have no clue if it looks ‘weird’ when I’m doing it, but I think it’s fun

I am in the same boat. I learned to knit when i was 8 and crochet when i was 11. How i hold my yarn and hok might be wrong to some people, but i can still crochet faster than those people because it works for me

I learned how to knit young, but always hated it because throwing seemed so slow. Then I learned how to crochet and accidentally stumbled into continental knitting. Now I knit how I crochet, so same same, but different 😂

OMG! This is so me! Im an only child, so bored, I taught mystify to knit at 10. And later to crochet. Since ot was only black and white photos then, I hold everything weird. But its not just here. My cousin flew to Russia and one of the little old ladies had to stop and "correct' her knitting. Grannies are grannies anywhere you go.

I learned to knit first, but I don't do a true throw. So, learning to crochet took me a while. I will admit that I can't watch videos of people who crochet with a throw like yourself. My SLD, OCD and ADHD brain can't handle it.😂

I'm surprised they let you have crochet needles on the flight, considering all the other restrictions they have these days.
