LiveKeyboardist

Welcome to the LiveKeyboardist KZread Channel. My name is Brett Pontecorvo, and I am so glad you stopped by. On this channel I do three things:

1. I help keyboard players build stable, easy to use, and functional live set ups for their performing needs by helping keyboardists choose the right gear, the right software, and the right configuration for their needs.

2. I teach sound design with the keyboard player in mind, breaking down the skills you need to build the sounds you hear from scratch or from already made presets

3. I teach the ins and outs of Ableton Live and Gig Performer, as well as explore and review other Live Performance software,

Playing live keyboard can be a ton of fun, and your computer can become part of your instrument with a little intentionality - I am so happy to walk alongside you on your LiveKeyboardist journey. Never hesitate to reach out to me through my website, LiveKeyboardist.com, or in the KZread comments!

Question: what made you choose these Keys/pads/leads as track? Is that better than groups or return tracks? If so, why?😅 thanks!! Awesome content 🙌🏼

This question may sound stupid. How are you managing to record loops without metronome on SL MK3. I mean as far as i understood you need to keep looking at the LEDs on the steps and play when the first LED blinks. How is it that this Controller doesn't have a metronome? Or am i missing something? Can you please answer ?

I used to have Reason Propellerhead, and shifted to Ableton Live. However, Abeton is CPU extensive. In comparison, does Gig Performer uses CPU more as well?

The only problem ive been experiencing with a setup pretty much identical to this has been the latency. There is a considerable amount of time in between the input and output.

Well, my problem comes with an Oxygen 61 MK IV, I'm manually mapping the controls and all was going fine but.. when it came to the mod wheel that I want it to assing to CC1 I can't find a way to do it, I program the mod wheel to send the CC1 with values between 0 to 127, then I switch to MIDI map mode in ableton, and I click in, by example, track 1 and then I move the wheel to let Ableton to know the control I'm assigning, but what it does it's to change to track 2.. instead expression command. I don't want to use the auto mapping since it maps awfully for my way of using it.. but I cannot find a way to program and assign the mod wheel. Do you know how to do it? Or if you know where I can find the information it will be welcomed.

no built in sounds... FFS really. professionals as in huge top names use MainStage real professionals massive names that fill huge stadiums and its stable as. Im not sure what planet you're on. two programs get used by massive bands in the last 2 years Ableton live and MainStage .

If you're playing live you wouldn't be connecting to speakers. You'd be connected to an amp or direct out hopefully with a monitor. Speakers are great for the home. I am trying to figure out how to use MIDI running on Linux for a live gig.

Kind Sir Mr. LiveKeyboardist I want to thank you so very much for sharing this link with me. I really do appreciate it. It is and was exactly the info I needed and was looking for. To think that all this time it was as simple as that. I already created a well needed Keys Rig that I can use and not have to worry about taking a Keyboard with me or being restricted to a particular Keyboard! Thank you so very much again Sir. I look forward to diving much more deeply into the world of Ableton and the other Software Keyboard options.

Hi Sir thanks very much for your informative Video. Could you explain how to configure each Patch/Sound within Ableton akin to Splits on a regular Keyboard? Example: Organ from C2 - B2: Piano from C3 - B3: E.P. & Strings from C4 - B4: Sample from C5... Thus using Ableton as a MIDI/USB Live Keyboard Template connecting to any USB/MIDI Keyboard!

Hi Sir. Thanks for sharing. I find your Videos quite informative. I probably don't know the right question to ask as I am just starting to use Ableton Live... I would like to be able to use Ableton Live as a Keyboard having the ability to Split Patches & Trigger Samples using the onboard Sounds from Ableton Live 10. So far I have not seen a Tutorial from Ableton or anywhere showing how this can be done. There are Musicians who no longer worry about taking their Keyboards with them. Just their Computer & connect via USB to any Keyboard that is USB compatible turning of the Local Channel.... Are you able to point me in the right direction? I would greatly appreciate it thanks.

Damn, I want serum because I used to have massive and while I made whole records with those sounds, it wasn't too fun of a process. Serum sounds like the direction I wanna go (plus i prefer the visual aspect), but native instruments is offering 14 plug ins for 100 bucks. Decisions, decisions.

Ok found the fix if you’re not getting any signal even though it was working before and you know it’s set up correctly just reset your Mac (if you’re on Mac) it just woke up and realized it was being stupid.

I have used gig performer since the first version. It did have a few issues, but as time went by, these were sorted . It it by far superior to main stage. Mind you , this is coming from someone with a strong knowledge of all that is midi. No, I am not sponsored by these guys . Extremely powerful software. Yeh sure this guy might be biased , but for a very good reason! If you are a die hard mainstage user, you should stop and have a long hard stare at yourself in the mirror !

This video is so basic I feel sorry for the people that could not figure that out for themselves! I wish the problem I am having was this basic. I have a M3 MacBook Pro running Rosetta. Kontakt 7 VST3 is in the correct folder, I have scanned plugin but Ableton will not find it. I have allowed Ableton, Kontakt and Native Access full disk access, I have reinstalled it 4-5 times. Still does not appear in the VST3 plugins list in Ableton despite being physically VST3 folder, I tried without Rosetta, I have tried creating a custom VST3 folder and moving Kontakt 7 VST3 into that folder and rescanning plugins. Still does not work. I have reinstalled Native Access that has not worked. I tried deleting the specific files ( recommended by Native Instruments) to the fix to this issue, that has not worked. I have run out of ideas, so I finally turned to your video to watch "how to fix missing VST files in Ableton" and you say that it is probably because the file is in the wrong folder! that is the entire video? honestly! If someone has to watch this to work that was the their issue I just feel sorry for them.
