    This is so amazing to watch. You are my sister in The Sisterhood of Metalsmiths❤️. I am helping as much as we can for Ukraine. Most importantly the World Central Kitchen. I’m so hopeful that they are there, on the ground, helping. And, giving hope. Please know there are millions of people all over the world, who pray for peace, believe in the Ukraine people as amazing souls in the world. I pray you hold your chin up now, if you can’t, imagine 1 million people right now are skiing to do the same thing. Give a woman hope. Hope drives us. Hope , makes us stop and breath. Hope relaxes our soul. So don’t ever doubt there are millions ready to stand up and say, enough is enough🤗🤗🤗😘❤️🥰🙏

    hi Misty! my filigree is SS, from rio, it should be fine i think, yes?

  • @MystyFoxArt
    @MystyFoxArt2 жыл бұрын

    The SS filigree wire from Rio is too thick and too springy. I highly recommend making the wire yourself from fine silver and roll it through the rolling mill. I have a tutorial on how to make filigree wire in my Etsy shop. Or if you don't have a rolling mill then I can make both the filigree wire and the frame wire for you. That wire from Rio, I've never tried it, people of course use it, but the filigree is not that delicate from it.

    I use the powder solder from Rio, that you have to mix with water, which is hit and miss on the consitoncy. my question is which do you refer, I find and it would be my soldering but some wires come undone after soldering new peices on! Also do you measure your threads before you place them in the frame!

  • @MystyFoxArt
    @MystyFoxArt3 жыл бұрын

    I failed to figure out how to solder with Victoria Lansford's powder solder. I use small medium solder chips that are sold precut at Rio, 0.5 * 1 mm size. I love them. You also do filigree? That's nice! Sometimes when you add more elements and solder them then the solder from the previous soldering gets undone, solder just flows somewhere else. It happens. I don't measure the length of the swirls, I just shape and cut then check whether it fits in where it has to be or not. If it's too long then I cut a small piece away and try again. If it's too short then I make another swirl and keep the short one for later. Hope it helps :). Feel free to ask any questions.

    Love the visual and the accompanying music... so relaxing! When do you use hard vs medium solder? Are you spraying it with flux? Thanks, Erta, I love your filigree jewelry!!!

  • @MystyFoxArt
    @MystyFoxArt3 жыл бұрын

    Thank you very much for your kind comment. I looove to watch the solder flow, it's so meditating for me. That's why I decided to edit the video and upload it to KZread, thinking that maybe somebody else will find it relaxing too, so I'm happy :). I use the hard solder for soldering the thick wires, making the frame for filigree and I use medium solder to solder the filigree itself. Yes, I poured the flux into a small spray bottle and use it for soldering my filigree. I don't want to risk messing up my filigree by using a brush or dipping the whole piece into the flux, so I just spray it onto the hot silver.

  • @MystyFoxArt

    Thank you very much for your kind words. I used to make liver of sulfur but it is a VERY stinky and unhealthy thing to do. I'd recommend you to buy it at RioGrande from USA, because the handmade one doesn't last long, you have to make it over and over again. Rio Grande has a stabilized one that you can use for a long time.
