The F22 just like the F35 are not dog fighters. The f16 is far better in a dog fight then the f35. The problem the F22 and F35 will both shoot and multplie times before you know it's even there. That's its advantage.

Me and my dad have been talking about reasons why we believed that the Gripen would be better for Ukraine. Such as: I thought that because of its STOL capabilities, they can scatter them around the country. And so, the russians would only be able to destroy one at a time. Instead of multiple in 1 bombing run. IF they were kept at an airfield. And my dad did mention that when it comes to reloading, most of the crew could be conscripts. Though I assume that he meant that even IF the ukranians would suffer heavy losses, the process may not be that complicated.

F-35A variant is about the same price as a Gripen. As more F-35s are ordered by nations the overall price has decreased. Not enough orders of Gripens has enabled Saab to lower overall prices.
