    As it was so quiet in the evening (even quieter when you came out) but jam packed at lunch times, shows how much it’s geared towards tourists. Think you’ll find the locals don’t spend their money there.

    Glad you enjoyed your day here. My number 1 Zoo, has been my favourite for a long while. They now have a new Lion pride and new monkey exhibit where the Sloth Bears were. We always take the car in (even with the extra charge) as my parents struggle to cover that sort of ground. It gives us the chance to possibly go around twice and be able to go through the Asia drive thru paddock. Great video.

    Hi guys, looked amazing. I can remember.going to Duxford with my parents when I was a girl and also the Shuttleworth Collection in Bedfordshire - my Dad was nuts about planes! I'm a bit like you Issy on the plane front I have to say but great to see Matt's enthusiasm! Sienna looked like she had a good time too. 💗 Thanks as ever for recording the video! Looks like another heatwave here in Norfolk from tomorrow! This Summer has certainly been a strange one!

    Duxford is apparently the largest air museum in the UK, although we didn't know this at the time. It's just over one side of the country so it's going to be quite a distance to travel for a lot of people. It's well worth the visit though. Hope you're having a good weekend! Matt and Issy

    Great video... thanks for posting. For those unfamiliar with the museum, the simple answer to the question on the thumbnail .... YES! Chalk Pits is a truly wonderful (mostly) open air site, with excellent collections, especially industrial narrow gauge railways (many from Sussex industries and utilities) and quite the finest collection of Southdown Motor Services buses to be found under one roof - quite literally, given the lovingly recreated SMS garage. If you have no car, no problem ... as the site is literally a couple of minutes easy walk from Amberley Railway Station.

    Great video! Have you been to Whinfell Forest yet? It's a bit different to all the others as it wasn't originally built as a Center Parcs so the pool looks the same as it did when it wasn't a Center Parcs, it also doesn't have any rapids. The village centre is also all indoors too.

  • @ExploreHomeRepeat
    @ExploreHomeRepeatАй бұрын

    Hi there. No, we haven't (yet!). We have Sherwood booked for Spring next year, and then Whinfell will be the last on in England to do. It's just a bit far for us with our daughter being so young, but I'm sure we'll get there. It would be interesting to see how it differs. All Centre Parcs as so similar in some ways and then very different in others. We have heard that a lot of people think Whinfell is the best, so it would be great to compare. Thanks for the nice comment and info. Don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already! Matt and Issy

    @@ExploreHomeRepeat Ah that's understandable, yes they all have things in common but also differences, I go every year to Whinfell as I'm only 45 mins away from it. Last year they added the Tropical Cyclone and recently they've refurbished one of the slides. Just subscribed!

    @Michael-123 Oh nice, we so love a tropical cyclone! It's definitely on the list of places to visit, as we are big fans of the Lake District in general. You're lucky being so close! Centre Parcs are brilliant, been going for 25 years +, Elveden is the biggest park, the cost is whatever you want it to be so you make your own choice. At least there’s no locals protesting about your being there!

  • @ExploreHomeRepeat
    @ExploreHomeRepeatАй бұрын

    Haha, yes, you're pretty safe from anti-tourist protests at Center Parcs! Totally agree with you regarding the price. You can spend as much or as little on activities and food as your budget allows. Do you think they've changed much in the 25 years youve been going? Thanks for watching and commenting. Matt and Issy

    Hello, I have recently been enjoying watching your videos. Having worked in zoos myself, it's always interesting to see how other people interpret other zoos, wildlife parks and safari parks. Been to West Midlands a couple of times, well over 10 years ago now. Not one of my favourites probably due to the fact how busy it was both times and the theme park side doesn't really interest me. But, it does have a wide varied selection of species. I shall have to try and get back there in the near future.

  • @ExploreHomeRepeat
    @ExploreHomeRepeatАй бұрын

    Hi there! Yes, we'd agree that the downside to West Midlands is it's popularity. It does get VERY busy at peak times. There are ways to get around it, like doing the car safari in the afternoon however. It's still very good in terms of how many animals you see and how close you get. So when you've worked in zoos, what did you do? Glad you enjoy our videos and thanks so much for watching and commenting. Matt and Issy

    Yes, both times I visited I think were during half terms so bad mistake by me I hold my hands up. One of the times I'd forgotten it was. I have worked at Colchester Zoo with the big cats (just over 20 years ago now which is scary) and as Educational Presenter at Dudley Zoo.

  • @simonjerryncf1987
    @simonjerryncf1987Ай бұрын

    Yeah, Colchester is about 80 acres in size but is jam packed with animals. Part of the zoo is set on a hill but has an easier route to follow. I do recommend Colchester. My favourite is ZSL Whipsnade Zoo. Though that is 600 acres. You can take your car in and park in various areas of the park but they charge an extra £30 on top of your admission fee.

  • @ExploreHomeRepeat
    @ExploreHomeRepeatАй бұрын

    @jerryncf1553 Yes, we've been to Whipsnade a few times. We always say that place is more for the animals rather than the visitors. Some of the enclosures are vast!

Games room was handy to have opening onto the patio/bbq area. Not too bothered about a sauna but is quite nice to try on your holiday. A hot tub would be our preference. All in all a comfortable stay as a home from home. Kitchen facilities very good. Prefer eyelevel ovens so having microwave and oven built in their own unit was ideal. Wine fridge was very useful. Hi, I was in the design team for this Parc. Designed half the dome area (dry side) the Pancake house, The sports plaza, The bowling Alley (below ground) and the wild water rapid. It was a bit more vicious than it was when opened but its been flattened out a bit now. The level of detail by the Architects Kromhout was incredible. I really enjoyed working on that job. Been there 3 times since with the boys as kids and recently as adults, they still love it and are hard to please. Improved with new features like the raft rides. It does cost a lot but everything is catered for. Just lock up your bikes well as they tend to go missing (happened to us twice). Staff are really naturally friendly. I don't have shares in it btw. Ive been to all of them now. All good. No complaints about anything. Aqua Sana is Ace. Plenty of variety there.
