Inspiration and information for model making and model railroading. This channel covers tools, techniques and actual construction of models and model railroading projects. Also touched upon are railroad related photography, rail fanning and similar topics. While the primary focus is 1/87th scale modeling (HO scale), including rolling stock, structures and scratchbuilding, there will be videos on model boats, airplanes, armored fighting vehicles and other subjects, most but certainly not all of which will be in 1/72nd scale.

Very nice!
Love the orange
Looks great, thanks for sharing. Dave
Hey Bob you did a great job , it looks awesome. Who makes these ? I keep debating whether to get a drone.
Jerry I have a DJI drone which is a Chinese company but the biggest consumer drone manufacturer (along with camera's, microphones and other products) in the world. I recommend their products. I have far too much to say about drone features for this forum though. If you get serious we should talk. Don't go too cheap though. There are crappy drones out there.
I need to invest in a drone at some point . There are many things I would like to do with one ! Great video !
Thanks for the comment Mark. I hope you are well. A drone is an expensive toy but I do enjoy mine! Keep in mind, IMHO as a lawyer, you need a Part 107 commercial license to use drone footage on KZread, assuming you are entertaining being monetized in the future. So that's a further investment in both time and money.
Yeah, that will definitely be easier to see Bob!
Thanks for the engagement John and good show on Sunday. Can always count on you for good modeling content. I have been experimenting with using metal foil and various adhesives on some signal bungalows. Hoping to have a video out on that project this weekend. God willing and the crick don't rise.
Good idea Bob. It looks great.
Thanks JD. Hope the Texas heat isn't killing you and Beryl left you unscathed. Contract on my Denton house set to close 7/26. Fingers crossed.
High vis drone definitely easier to see, great job..
Thanks 👍 Really enjoyed your railfan/cookout video. Great location.
@@PKWModelwerx awesome thank you.. it was a relaxing day..
Wow. Great job, Bob. Looked like it was painted that way originally. They should have the option to buy it in fluorescent orange. Happy flying!
Thanks Drew. Some manufacturers DO mold in bright colored plastic - but not DJI.
@@PKWModelwerx Sadly. You’re welcome, Bob.
Great tip. I'll be changing the color of my next drone. 🫵💯👍✌️
What are you flying now Plumber? Any chance I will see you at RPM in Saint Louis?
😮 that is really interesting my drone is black 😄 I rather have orange 🍊 thanks for sharing
What are you flying now Dwight? Is it DJI?
@@PKWModelwerx I'm not sure it's just a cheap drone
Great sharing man
Thanks for the visit
Never throw away those silica gel bags that show up everywhere. They are super useful in any workshop to keep reagents dry and prevent rust on tools. You can also reuse them almost indefinitely by simply by forced evaporation in an oven at up to 100 celcius. If you have a fine scale you can measure pretty easily if they are in need of replacing because they will increase in weight up to 40% when satured. Just put those in a jar and regenerate them in bulk later :) You can buy this stuff in bulk - including versions that change color as they get saturated. But free is free... ;)
Great tip! I bought some due to lack of patience but free is better! Thanks for the engagement!
Very cool industry! Thanks for sharing. Dave
Does this sign cycle through corn-kits pan-kits bis-kit in neon at night? I'm remembering this from Denton in the 90s.
Cool…that would be a nice challenging scratch build for someone
Hi Bob 👋 Wow... what a massive facility and what a build that would be . So you are finally and officially moved...how exciting 😁👍 DD
Nice iconic structure, definitely unique. And welcome to Pittsburgh!
Thanks. I'm baaack! Still hunting commercial space for a layout. then I may be reaching out to you if I need some muscle or extra hands to get up and running!
Would be a great build for some one !!!
Thanks for the engagement Mark. You doing OK?
@@PKWModelwerx Just trying to keep up with the real world !! Have not had time to do any model RR stuff . Very long days just keeping my nursery and landscaping going !!!
Do you have plans on building this for your layout Bob ?
Maybe but it's a pretty ambitious project. Would YOU build something that big? But the real question is - are there even grain elevators on the gulf coast? if not, there is no place for that on my planned layout.
A very interesting building
Thanks for watching James. Still unpacking but some modeling content coming soon.
Pretty cool building.
I like the two shapes of silos. Do you think a cricuit or silouhette machine could cut those letters?
@@PKWModelwerx I bet they could.
Thank you for the nice review, Bob! Glad to hear you approve. Good luck with the move and happy modeling!
Super nice Video
NEAT! Can’t wait to see what other company swag you’ll be getting 😏. Have a safe trip!! -Anthony Z
Great video, thank you. I love inter modal so your channel is so interesting and helpful
Hi Bob Really enjoyed your video looking forward to seeing and can’t wait to see the build on the upcoming project keep up the great work thanks again to have a fantastic weekend
Sweet swag, Bob! And OMG the shirt... back in Jr HIgh and High School I was the photographer for our school paper... I had a home darkroom and did nothing but b&w - mostly Tri-X!. I can still smell the vinegary stop bath...
Thanks for the engagement Bob. I hope all is well. I'm considering going to Wonderfest next year. Have you been? Care to join me?
This will be a very cool build. Highly interested.
Any suggestions on how to make the letters? Cricut machine? I'm not sure. Maybe just print on paper, glue to styrene sheet and cut manually?
@@PKWModelwerx I'd try finding the exact letter font and printing them on photo paper. Love old school architecture.
Looks like a cool build Bob.
JD if you ever railfan in Denton you can check the place out. Known for root beer.
Looking forward to seeing these in the works. This looks awesome, like yourself, I love the '60 architect.
Thanks for the engagement Jerry. All that glass is a challenge and makes an interior of some sort mandatory.
Have fun with the scratch building, Bob. Got lots of great details you can add on. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, will do!
Cool structure Bob, should be a fun build! Looking forward to it.
Once this move is over! So many backlogged projects.
Very cool project build. 👍 Looking forward to the video.
Thanks for the engagement. Moving from TX to PA right nnow but stay tuned!
Looks like a fun build !! Enjoy !!
Thanks, will do!
cool vd on channel thanks lee
Glad you enjoyed it
Oh you live in Denton, I spent a week there working at the Peterbilt factory, cool town. My favorite band is from there too, Bowling for soup. I do remember the town square. Nice to things that have meaning on the layout.
Great jazz in Denton. I will miss that but not the heat!
Looks great Bob. Welcome back to PA.
Thanks 👍
Wow real nice there. That’s great. Happy moving.
Yeah, that looks really good.. they definitely done a great job, good stuff Bob, moving is no fun, but exciting at the same time..
Thanks Pappy. Ton of work moving but look forward to being back in Pittsburgh. I'll see you in person at some point up there. Appreciate the engagement.
@@PKWModelwerx for sure, I get that way a few times a year, will definitely have to meet up..
Sweet tumbler, Bob. Thanks for sharing. Good luck with the move.
Thanks Drew. Hope to meet you trackside once I'm settled.
Nice looking tumbler !!! Hope the move all goes well!! Great to see some thing from you !!
Thanks Mark. The real world interfering, as you've noted before. But in a month or so I am hoping things will settle down! And I can get back to my scratchbuilding.
That is a very nice tumbler Bob.
Thanks for the engagement JD. Moving truck comes Wednesday of next week. I'm already exhausted. Having just moved, you know what I'm dealing with!
@@PKWModelwerx I hope you have a smooth move.
good
I wonder, where the carbon comes from and who buys it. Anthracite coal maybe? I think I've read tire manufacturers use it.
I want to say carbon black is a by product of the petroleum industry. Not sure. But I AM sure that it is used in the rubber tire production process and is why automobile tires are a uniform black color. The carbon black also aids hardness and longevity of the tires.
To answer a couple of concerns you had...there was only one difference between 88 rounds used in the FlaK 36 and Tiger Tank guns, and that was the primer. The flak guns used a percussion primer, while the vehicle gun rounds were electrically primed. Cases and projectiles were identical in all other respects, and cases would have been designated FlaK on the head, so that is all correct. The stenciling is also correct for this round, and is really cool to see on the model. The primer represented is indeed a C/22 Electrical Primer, so the round is correct for Tiger I. The FES stencil designates the projectile as having sintered iron driving bands as opposed to copper, so good call on painting those a steel color. They are called driving bands (not compression bands,,,) Cool kits to represent a very hard to find and expensive round. As an ordnance collector I actually have 3 FlaK/KwK 88 rounds, 2 HE and an AP. It seems to be a very accurate 1:1 model!
Wow! What a long and helpful comment. And from an obvious expert. Thank you so much! I'll have to find a way to highlight your comment for future viewers. Yes. Very cool kit. Seriously considering the Tiger II round as well. Out of curiousity, how much does it cost to but real exaamples?
@@PKWModelwerx Sorry for the delay on this, I just saw your reply...so basically the FlaK gun was designated the FlaK 36 (FlaK being a contraction of Flugzeug Abwehr Kanone, or anti-aircraft gun)...the vehicle gun was KwK 36 (short for Kampfwagen Kanone, or tank gun)...FlaK/KwK 36 rounds complete in good shape are running around $1000 and up now. The rounds for the Tiger II, (KwK 43 gun) are hitting $2k now, sadly I do not have one of those, although the PIG model might fit that hole...oh, and the stenciling on the case was information on the powder used in the cartridge, charge weight, type and physical characteristics of the powder, maker, lot number....so that date on the stencil is for the powder manufacture, the date for the case would be part of the hed stamp on the base of the case. Don't know if they reproduced it on the model, but the projectile would be stamped in the steel with maker/date/lot number, and then stenciled (often, but not always) with the info on who filled the shell with explosive, what explosive was used, and date. So looking at the headstamp in your video, the case maker was avk (Ruhrstahl AG, Brackwede-Bielefeld), and was made in 1941. 6347 was the case designation for the FlaK/KwK 36 case (each type/caliber case had its own). The FlaK 18 designation was the original designation for the case, the FlaK 18 was the predecessor of the FlaK 36, they kept that designation on the headstamp. The primer shows it is a C/22 Electric primer, maker was bmv (Rheinmetall-Borsig AG, Soemmerda plant, Soemmerda) also made in 1941, 45 was a lot number. Most 88mm AP projectiles were actually filled, meaning they had an HE bursting charge with a base fuze, so that once it penetrated its target it would explode adding to the destructive power. The projectiles were loaded with 2.12 ounces of cyclonite. Hope this all helps round out the info on the shell!
Nice👍👍
Great idea to buy it when you can. Thanks for sharing.
Pretty cool, thanks for sharing. Dave
Roof tops are hard to get references of a lot of times . Its good you had the capability to do that !!
I have to be careful about using my Dr0ne photos until I get my commercial license. Using it for YT is arguably for profit, if I ever monetize.
