"on the line" was the what I hated to hear from our high school basketball coach...ran the shit out of us. We did stuff like this video but we called them crunchers. It worked. 21-3 and State Champions in 1984. The coddling of kids needs to STOP!!

During practices, coach would ask random players (1)their name, (2) hometown and (3) who they played for. Up until this scene, players would answer (3) with a name of their school. Mike was the first to say he played for the United States of America.

You want to talk about some burning legs, all that equipment you're wearing back and forth. That's why they take shifts when they play the games.

This scene reminds me of my time when I was in high school playing football. During the summer in 1999 right before the start of the season it was a Saturday and it was 85-90 degrees in NYC. Our coach made us played 5 different teams throughout one day. After we were done he made us run up a steep hill which is also slanted. I have never been so tired in my entire life.

It's also worth noting the exercise ended when Mark Johnson snapped in frustration and broke his stick, that was when Brooks new he pushed them to their limit. And for good measure, Mike Eurizione added that if Brooks only wanted to hear "In play for the United States of America," he would have figured that out and screamed it a whole lot sooner, maybe just five runs in.
