Hi Patricia, thank-you for your kind comment. The portrait images I have in the video are mixed media that includes digital. I start with a photograph that I personally shoot. I have a course on DVD that I am in the process of updating as Photoshop, Corel painter and other digital imaging software used for various parts are outdated. It is one of the things I love about traditional media, it doesn't really get "outdated". I found that the traditional media parts aree still the same, the techniques with digital are the same but the software and interface changes so much every couple years that you have to see-do everything instead of just small updates each year.

what I do I I got Epson clear film for my wide format pigment based printer and I do image transfers onto a second coat of wet resin. Then I remove the film once resin is cured. It's tricky to get the resin even though because you can't do the torching this way. one can also use a gel or fluid medium on the cured resin,, peel away the clear film, once it;s all dry brush on clear gesso to give a tooth and then do a final coat of resin. both methods need clear gesso before putting the final coat of resin because it can't be sanded with the image transferred on to it.

Should the completed piece of artwork be displayed in a cool environment or climate controlled environment?
@ArtGeekTeaching3 ай бұрын
Hi Pronto. Thank-you for taking the time to post. Encaustic is beeswax and damar resin so it is pretty hardy. Like all pieces of fine art though one would want to avoid direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, high temperatures, as in a hot car, or direct heat. For those that live in a hot environment care should be taken on placement. The wax will soften at 100 degrees F making it more susceptible to damage if being handled at that point. Having said that, the Romano-Egyptian Fayum mummy portraits from Egypt are from around 100-300 AD.

@ArtGeekTeaching3 ай бұрын
Hi Susana! I personally love pan pastels and think they are worth the high price. They last forever. I am certainly not a pastel artist and I dont use them traditionally. They work on just about anything, I use them typically to add vibrant color. Most often I use resin or encaustic as a part of my process and they are great with those mediums. Thank-you for taking the time to comment.

I was wow 😮 Do you use that for art making? I like home made soaps. And I think of making it when my studio is ready for me to do everything I want. And that's a lot of stuff. One must be patient. The recipe of soaps I normally see use some kind of foaming ingredient. I'll try it one day. I can say I like variety. Maybe I'm on the right channel. Thanks for share this idea 😊
@ArtGeekTeaching4 ай бұрын
Hi Susana! I do also like soap made from scratch rather than melt and pour but I find my self using melt and pour more often than I used to because of time limitations. It works just as well for me and is much quicker AND without having to be careful with lye. Probably a better choice for me given my propensity to go down rabbit holes and not pay attention. Thank-you commenting!

Hi Kay-My color palette choice and portrait crop of the coyote doesn't help to identify him as a coyote as opposed to a fox. In general foxes are smaller than coyotes with tiny, pointed snouts. Coyotes have large, long snouts and stockier bodies. Their coat is a mixture of tan, black, and gray shades that become lighter in the winter. Not being able to see the whole body, nothing to indicate scale and my color choices do make it look more like a fox than a coyote in my opinion too. Not being a photo realist, I am okay with that though. Thank-you so much for commenting.

Music is a huge part of my process although I usually wear headphones. Being fairly new to YT I have found it really difficult to create and talk at the same time, I cant really get in and stay in flow while I am explaining. So there tends to be a really big difference in creating for YT and creating for me. Currently I am trying to find the balance. I suspect that I really need to go to creating in the studio with no recorded sound, then ad the VoiceOver. The other thing I found out just today is that if I actually watch the videos on YT the background music is much more prominent than when I was editing which is interesting. Thank-you for taking time out of your schedule to comment.
