Almost 100% of drownings are people that can swim.

Why tf did no one get a boat or jet out to them? This pissed me off that no one sent anything out for all of them.

I may be wrong but I see the rip current ending a few feet behind the second person. Had he just floated to that area and then swam either left or right to the shore.. would this work?

Has anyone ever ridden a rip current to the end only to be attacked by a shark because you're so far out? That would be my luck...

This video is an amazing form of self-awareness. If you’re a lifeguard or someone going to the beach, take a look at the water first. 2:06 look at the sand. You can see the ocean is pulling out

Rip tide, always swim parallel or diagonal to the shore. I know from experience. Before any of that try to remain calm and float on your back to conserve energy.

I was surfing at a break called Poipu Beach on the south shore of Kauai Island. An older woman had gotten pushed out beyond the break due to the trade winds & had fallen asleep on 1 of those mattress sized air mats. She woke up & started screaming. Why the lifeguards didn't respond I have no idea. I paddled over & and gifted her the velcro cuff on my leash. She locked it down & I towed her back to the beach. She was on vacation from Germany & I thought boy with tiger sharks & big surf everywhere these inexperienced inlanders are not too bright.

I don't know why people try to go for a swim in the ocean, you can have all the fun in the world in waist deep water. The ocean isn't a swimming pool.

one thing i don't understand in most rip current rescues is how are the lifeguards able to swim easily directly back to shore if this is the complete opposite of what you should be doing and doesn't work most of the time, at least if you're out pretty far? i also noticed them swimming backwards as waves are coming in the same direction ( some youtube videos showing this ), which is even more confusing. what i mean is, typically you are supposed to swim back diagonally so you end up avoiding the rip current and travel along the waves, but waves are also occuring within rip currents too, so it makes it more difficult. i guess it's just something that you have to "Feel" when your in one?' now i only remember briefly a time that apparently i was in a rip current, maybe a weaker one, who knows, but the way i got back was somehow looking at where the waves broke farthest on the beach, or at least what appeared to what could be called a "return line", and although it wasn't something i could explain at the time, i was lucky enough that it was the right path to take, obviously exhausted and breathingly very rapidily when i got back to shore. this is also when i had very little to no understanding of rip currents, i just thought that they were randomly generated currents that occurred in the ocean and take you out almost endlessly, unless you swim directly back. but even now, i still feel like i would struggle a lot if i was caught in a relatively weak one, but i've always been very bad at floating and swimming, even in still water, i can only barely float on my back, and that's if i'm able to calmy do so with a lot of effort, even then, water is still constantly going into my mouth / nose, so it doesn't really work really. i think a large part of this inability to float is due to my body type, my chest sinks in a bit, and i have mild pectus excavatum condition, on top of that, my physical health has always been below average and worsening gradually, so when you have all that and other factors( like pre existing mental health related conditions like anxiety, stress, clinical depression, etc ), then it can be very difficult to survive these situations.

Why are there always situations like this where you have people content to just record the life-or-death situations? I'm not saying you need to go jump in the water and swim out there but you could call 911 and tell them what's happening, the Police would be able to contact the right people who have the equipment to get in there ASAP. Just do something that is not just standing there recording with your phone and hoping for the best. We see this stuff all the time, especially with car accidents where people just stand there recording when the Ambulance or the Police haven't arrived. You have those people who see something like this happening and they immediately go into that "what can I do to help" mode, and then you have the people who just pull out their phone and record.

🗣📢✝️ Everyone will die and youth is no guarantee of old age. No one is promised the next moment of life. Don't neglect the most important decision you will ever make in your life! Jesus Christ saves! Repent of your sinful lives and believe the gospel of Jesus Christ! Romans 1:16-32 King James Version 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Hello, 🌷🌹🥀🏵🌸🌸May I share an Old Testament Verse with you from Daniel 7:14 "And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a Kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should SERVE Him; his dominion is an Everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom shall not pass away, and His Kingdom that which shall not be destroyed." Also, can I share Isaiah 53:5 " But HE was WOUNDED For our TRANSGRESSIONS, he was BRUISED for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His STRIPES we are HEALED." God the Father loves you so much that He sent Holy Sinless Jesus (His Holy Son) to earth to be born of a virgin. Then, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins. He was in the tomb for 3 days, then Father God raised Holy and Sinless Jesus Christ (Y'shua) to Life! He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, & immoral persons sorcerers & idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire & brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent. Will you have a Real encounter with Holy Lord Jesus (Y'shua is His Hebrew Name) and stay in a Genuine relationship with Him daily please?

Man that guy approaching the 2nd swimmer. He is lucky that dude did not panic. I have a story about the time I literally almost died. I was trying to teach my younger sister how to swim, roughly 3 1/2 years younger than me. Back when I thought I had the universe figured out @11 years old, I decided it would be a great idea to get her to swim underwater to me where it was over her head without her knowing. This is where my 11 year old idiot ass learned that when you are near a drowning human in the water, they will use your ass to keep there own head above water no matter were the fuck your are. She had a death grip around my head and neck and was in 100% panic mode, she had me forced about 3 feet under. I was down there for what seemed like 10 minutes. Luckily a woman swimming nearby saw what was happening and saved my ass. This was at apple mountain lake in linden Virginia around 92. Whoever you were, you saved my life that day. I will never forget that feeling like I was about to die and when I was suddenly grabbed and pulled above the water.

One time when I was little I think around like 7-8(idk exactly I’d have to ask my mother) but me and my family went on a trip to the Oregon coast and went to the beach one day and we were out swimming and I got caught in a rip , and I tried swimming against it and kept getting pulled further and further out and was starting to worry cause the shore was getting so far out and just idk why or how I thought of it but I just thought that trying to swim directly towards the shore was not working so I started swimming in different directions until I found a direction I was able to swim somewhat towards the shore and actually move foward instead of being pulled out so I just kept swimming until I was able to make it to shore, and my parents said they didn’t notice me until I was already almost back in about 50yards to the right of them and then I apparently just walked back to them all calmly and told them the weird thing that happened in the water, and I didn’t know at the time how lucky I was at that age to even be alive. For some reason I’ve always been a strong swimmer thank god, and I never had any water safety or swimming lessons growing up so I had no idea what a rip even was. they told me about it 2 years ago (I’m now 18) and it so many memories came flooding back from that trip. Idk how I was so calm being carried out into the ocean at that age. Pretty crazy stuff to think I could’ve been one of these dudes or even drowned.
