    Oh yeah, it’s definitely a very, very nice late. I have not turned any bowls on it yet, but I’ve turned a few dowels and a bunch of pens and stuff like that. Seems really nice and controls are nice. I would definitely recommend.

    I just installed the same saw in my new workshop and am very happy with it. I opted for a four-wheel BORA base which fit the base of the saw perfectly after a bit of trial and error. Had no problems setting the guides with 1/2” Jet blade per several Alex Snodgrass I watched. I was a bit perplexed at how to best to connect the upper and lower dust collection ports together and lacking a 4” straight connector decided to Flex tape the straight pipe of a Y to the lower one with a short loop of hose from the upper to the Y which connects to a DustRight connector and nozzle. I already had a BOW finger stop for router and table saw and plan to get the one they have for re-sawing on band saw.

    Just a heads up to anyone thinking of buying one of these. The feed rollers on the planer part of my G0958 disintegrated after 4 hours of use. Now it leaves black streaks on everything, boards jam and bits of the feed rollers flake off on my fingers. Four hours of use was not a very good value for $550. Suggest not getting this unit.

  • @wooddogg8
    @wooddogg87 ай бұрын

    Have you talked to Grizzly? I had a problem with the guard not snapping back (it would stay completely open) and they sent me replacement parts right away. I have noticed black streaks on some of my boards and figured they would sand out easily... Gonna have to take a close look at the rollers. I'm probably at about 8 hours total use and i'm impressed with it so far. You need at least one roller stand on the outfeed if you plan to joint much longer than 4 feet.

  • @ions82
    @ions823 ай бұрын

    I feel like yours can't be the only machine out there with crappy rollers. I am on the fence with this machine. I do machine and fabrication work and might be able to correct any problems/shortcomings. I wish there were a machine of this size that were twice the weight and better quality (for twice the price.). I don't need capacity but would still love to have good quality.

  • @genericuser4266
    @genericuser42663 ай бұрын

    @@ions82 I agree on all points. I was finally able to get this returned for replacement under the one year warranty but, other than my roller problem, I've seen a number of people report motor failure on these units. My plan is to get a Dewalt planer and just use the Jointer on this unit but not the planer. Motor on the Grizzly seems to get hot a lot more quickly doing planing. If I had to do it over again I'd get two separate units rather than this all in one and just accept that I have to move things around in my cramped work area. Better to have reliable equipment and more setup time than worry about equipment dying in the middle of a project IMO. Hope you have better luck than I have so far.

    The machine may get a solid eight but then is a cheap tool in comparison to a pro model. You in turn get a solid 2 as a presenter by not disclosing the shortcomings of this very limited machine. It’s almost toyish. Very small and fragile. I just got mine and yet to try it, but by the looks of it I don’t expect much. Only time will tell. I got mine with the thought of making bird houses and picture frames, but for something more elaborate I believe you need something more profesional minded.
