North Foils

North Foils

As humans, we’re drawn to foiling because it gives us back a direct connection to nature, to freedom.

Foiling opens up a whole new world. It’s a sport and a technology that sets us free.

The North Foils rally cry “Run, Fly Be”, inspired by philosopher Bruce Lee, reminds us that we can be as powerful, as ever-changing, as unstoppable, as wild, and free as water itself.

“Run, Fly, Be” inspires us to create a lifestyle based on your own rules, not that of anyone else.

This is North Foils.

    Hi there, The Mode Ultra was designed to be our competitive race wing, for the riders chasing high speeds out there on the water. If you are looking for a more wave-oriented wing, I recommend the Nova Pro or the Nova in our wing line-up. You can find them on our website here: northactionsports.com/pages/wing-overview I hope that helps, James from North 🤙

I use the mode pro in wave sessions too and I find these sails really good but they aren’t made for that so … I was thinking that was maybe the case for the ultra too. I find the material of the ultra interesting …

    As with any race-focused product, it is stripped down to the bare minimum that is required to ensure it can perform at an optimum level. Any unnecessary or convenience features have been removed to ensure we can make this a racing machine. For this reason the ShiftLock system have been left off.

  • @NorthFoils

    Hi there, N-Xi is a performance race wing material that requires more careful handling than a ripstop canopy. While we recommend storing all of our wing canopies by rolling and folding, the Mode Ultra has a specially designed bag to accommodate the rolled wing. You do not need to fold the canopy. I hope that helps, James from North

    Hi there, The 850MAV2 would be your best bet in this situation. You will find the V2 has a much better wind ranger per size. They are carbon handles, same as our grip lock carbon handles. Also, every other brand has hard handles as they are a benchmark nowadays. Besides, we’ve covered the ends with soft plastic to prevent injured or board breaking.

    I bought 5m with boom. After 2 session for now this is a nightmare to setup it on the beach. It took me more time then inflate it and attach mast to the board and assemble foil. Maybe need more practice… first session on the way to the beach I lost 2 pieces to connect boom to the wing, thanks god I was able to find them. Boom is grate but all actions need to be done to use is complicated. I prefer to have quick connection without any tools.

    Hey my friend, I don’t agree with you. If you follow the correct steps it’s simple, quick and easy. Make sure that the screw is tight enough for the clamps not to fall, but loose enough to fit the ShiftLock handles onto the track. If done correctly should be as quick and easy as attaching your mast to the board 😊

  • @Uli_Sommerlatt
    @Uli_Sommerlatt3 ай бұрын

    @secondlife7976 What works best for me is whenever I have taken the ShiftLock handles or boom off the wings I tighten the screws hand tight that way the clamps never come off the handles during transport. If you leave them loosely assembled they can come undone during transport as any screw connection that is exposed to vibration.

    @MikeRaper0505 How is the stiffness of the MA2400V2 with the e-glass? Does the thicker foil help offset the flex of the e-glass as opposed to the others with carbon construction? I'm very curious about this, so I ordered a MA2400V2 to try it myself. I can't wait to test it on the water.

  • @Uli_Sommerlatt
    @Uli_Sommerlatt4 ай бұрын

    @gregorybenning423 The MAv2 wings in the bigger sizes have quite a long chord length being mid aspect ratio wings. The thickness is always a percentage of the chord length. So a longer chord length will automatically result in a thicker profile if you keep the same profile thickness in %. In short this mean that these bigger mid aspect wings are based on their geometry alone already very stiff. We call this geometrically stiff. It does not take much laminate to get them to the stiffens values we want from a performance point of view. There is no downside to go for a prepreg E-glass laminate for these type of wings. Hence we brought out the Prime MA1850v2, Prime MA2100v2 and Prime MA2400v2 which are using a prepreg E-glass laminate. The MA1850v2, MA2100v2 are currently also available in our standard carbon prepreg construction, as well as all the other smaller front wing sizes in the MA range. Prime and Carbon Series come out of the same mould. The Carbon version is just a touch lighter than the Prime version at a similar stiffness. In the construction details both versions are identical. The individual prepreg layers warp around the LE making it a pretty bullet proof construction. The Prime version is anything else but short of a 'low-quality pressed together' E-glass front wing where the two moulds are butt jointed at the LE and TE line and wings can easily split apart on impact as no layer wrap around the LE properly connecting upper and lower skins. So nothing wrong with using E-glass prepreg for these front wings. Hope the above info is helpful?
