Hmmmm , mine works just fine . No bogging down unless you get goofy with it . I did get a longer screw for the angle fence on the table so it would actually lock in place .

I mean come on...everybody that has one of these(which I do)knows what you're getting. It's from Harbor Freight which means made in China, mass produced and made to sell so cheaply that the hobbyist believes it's a fantastic deal. I guess I got REALLY lucky mine seems to work fine for what I use it for and worked well right out of the box. I have it clamped to a table so it doesn't vibrate badly. It will never perform like a $500. piece of equipment. If that's what you're looking for buy another brand

I have just restored a 10" Pratt Burnerd chuck like this. A cross between a 3 jaw and 4 jaw. The only chuck you will ever need. No idea why they didn't catch on. Too expensive I suspect. And it's flipping heavy!

Hi I'm hoping to hear back soon since I'm in the middle of trying to replace my inner cv boot, but I dont understand the very first thing you did in the video where you smacked it and that cap came off. I have tried to do the same but no luck lol, just hoping you could explain it for me. Thanks!

So basically the sander is junk unless you have a machine shop and several hours of time to modify it.

mine the belt to wide as well, just let it run and sanded the belt down, it worked. The rollers were a bit out of centre a re machine like Alex done. The motor still get very hot in 25 minutes time, untouchable... cant do nothing but buy more expensive one i suppose. Over all ok for diy small jobs. Changed the roller bearings after about a year..but i did use it a lot on small projects, so no complains.

A lot of these belts are really stiff when you first buy the machine especially if it's cold outside. My drill press was just like this. It wouldn't even start turning without me helping it start. I just got it going and let it run for like 30 minutes and it loosened up and worked fine after that.

On better tools you don’t need a machine shop to get get your new tool purchases to run correctly. Lol These things are the classic “you get what you paid for” scenarios. That said I got enough use use out of mine for what I paid for it but I’m ready for something better.

I was given one, the roller had cracked I’d advise not to turn down the roller the wall is to thin and an undersized roller will cause drag. I turned a roller from red gum made it 5/16” larger and machined a bore to accomodate 35mm oversized bearings. I replaced the tension spring using a valve spring and adjusted the travel to use a longer belt, I’ll be changing the motor next to 1/2 HP

I'm thinking if you can afford a lathe, you can probably afford a better sander. And in reality, the belt isn't the issue with these, it's the sackless motor.

I feel like you got a really crappy one from the factory. I have the same sander that I've used for 8+ years and it's ran like the end of your video from the day I bought it. The only thing I have done is remove the disk sand from the side. If sand everything from hardwood to bolt heads and washers without a problem. I would have just taken that thing back. I mean good work, maybe I just lucked out.

The best thing I have found to make this sander better is to change the drive pulley to a 3". I used a 3" Chicago diecast pulley and drilled the arbor hole from a 1/2" to 9/16" to fit the motor shaft size. It doubles the speed. Some people use a 3 1/2" pulley but that is a bit too much for the motor. If you change to the 3" pulley you will need a 3L - 230 V belt.
