Guitar Collector Guy

Guitar Collector Guy

You can never have too many guitars in life. I am a collector like you who likes to share his collection and experiences with friends.

reverb.com/shop/guitarcollectorguy

I learned that there are many different types of collectors. I would characterize myself as a generalist. I do not specialize in any specific manufacture or model of guitar. I cannot recite all the permutations of a specific guitar through the years it has been produced. I am the guy that knows a little bit about a lot of guitars. I want them all. I have limited funds, so the guitars I buy tend to be the guitars that are usually below $1500 in price. I do periodically buy guitars that are in the higher end when it comes to costs. I like all Gibson Les Paul’s but would not turn my nose up at a Tribute model or a Special. Meaning if the guitar plays well and makes me smile - all is good in the world. I love to work on guitars. I like to share the projects I am working on with other like-minded people.

    Just got a good deal on a Gen 1 Player Telecaster Body(In Tidepool) that I plan to build a project guitar with. It looks to be routed the same as the Player II. I have very specific preferences on a lot of aspects of a guitar, so I’m thinking the Player series will be a great mod platform.

    @@guitarcollectorguy, so far I’ve modified an Epi Les Paul Classic Worn(which needs repairs due to a faulty replacement harness) and a Squier Sonic Strat HSS(I moved it to a SSS with a rail stacked humbucker and two noiseless singles). This will be my first build effectively from scratch. I was thinking about a Humbucker-P90-Humbucker(Nashville on Steroids), but after this video, there may be other variations worth a look. Didn’t expect the option for a P90 at the neck.

    Have you done any builds with bathtub routed strats? They're the only kind I make, but curious if you have any insight on EMI issues with an open pocket like that.

  • @guitarcollectorguy
    @guitarcollectorguyКүн бұрын

    I have done a few. I have usually installed humbuckers. With single coil installed have you experienced more hum/noise?

  • @Chaosweaver-1
    @Chaosweaver-117 сағат бұрын

    @@guitarcollectorguy I haven't built any out, I just manufacture the bodies, but I'm wondering why there aren't more bathtub routes out there for potential EMI issues.

  • @guitarcollectorguy
    @guitarcollectorguy16 сағат бұрын

    It probably is the reason. It seems they would be a really popular routing because of the upgrade possibilities. Makes sense that there would be more noise.

    I love natural and large headstock! $149 for my Epiphone special II was great also! Don't get me wrong, genuine Gibson Specisls are much better, but properly set up, and a few parts replaced, the low end models are miles ahead of the old day entry level.

    I totally have a question for you too! I am building a guitar and I want to have 3 pick ups. I got a hum bucker, single coil, and a jazz master pick up. I want to have just one switch to turn on or off the pick up and maybe just a volume knob. It’s kinda based off of the 1960’s Sandtron guitar. I have never built a guitar though and never really messed with guitar electronics just soldered some stuff before. Would you know how to go about that and what kind of on off switches id need. I just thought there’s no harm in asking sense you seem very smart on this stuff.

  • @guitarcollectorguy
    @guitarcollectorguy3 күн бұрын

    You could do it with an on and off switch just like the Jaguar. It has three switches and would allow to control each pickup individually. The combinations would be cool.
