Limitations of the ROM mean I can't do this. Luigi shares all of the same sprites from a certain position down as Mario, with the palette swapped from red to green I might be able to change Luigi to Wario or Metal Mario or another Mario re-colour, but at the moment, Luigi fits best.

Fuck this is great! i mean this basically made my dreams come true, though i'd like Yoshi and Kirby instead of Luigi and C. Falcon, because they're more important as franchises and also more representative of the Smash series, but anyways, Amazing hack!

AntiCromosoma there's only so much I could do with colour pallets and stuff. I might be able to do something with Luigi but unsure as of yet. It's been a long time since I've worked on the game.

oh don't worry about it, i think luigi is kind of a mario recolor except for the face, so he must stay there, and i'm actually making Kirby into the game by myself, don't worry, i won't publish it, it's just that i love Kirby and wanted to play as him, i'll just keep it to myself.

He has a lot of experience with working on Tile Data and knows what to look for in a ROM. Super Mario Kart has a significant amount of Tile Data that is compressed which makes it inaccessible to most normal romhacking programs. But there are specialized programs that he knows how to use that can decompress this data and then recompress it after its been modified.

This is awesome. Can't wait to see the custom tracks update based on other Nintendo icons. Now, if only Nintendo made a true Super Smash Kart.... wouldn't that be good?

Ah, this is the mod you mentioned. Pretty awesome! Didn't even know how far SMK modding went. I see what you meant by being better for the Wii. This is very limited due the forced 8 character roster.

+ShadowLuigi~NG~ Thanks! And I agree, the limitations cause problems (but can be fun to work around) I couldn't even swap out Luigi as his sprites are shared with Marios! haha. It'd be great to see Super Smash Kart Wii, If you ever find the time :)
