CARGO ON - Cargo Conversion Build & Camp
CARGO ON - Cargo Conversion Build & Camp
As a retired contractor, Rick converted his cargo trailer into a practical yet very attractive custom cargo trailer camper conversion. Our Channel is about budget RV travel and camping. We camp often on the East Coast as we are from NJ. Recently we drove across the country and spent 51 days in our tiny camper.
We have over 700 videos - but they are sorted into playlists like: Construction, Camping Tips, Hacks & How-to's, Product Reviews, Interviews with other campers/nomads, Videos from our cross-country road trip, Campground Reviews, Tours of other campers, Our cargo camper, Our travel destinations, Hiking, Biking & other outdoor adventures. We are down-to-earth, fun-loving seniors and we love camping. Mainly we focus on BUDGET RV travel and Rick talks a lot about construction tips

Nice 👍 what diameter Abs pipe? What diameter metal conduit for the frame? Thanks
Rick says it's a 2" diameter pipe and a 1/2" metal conduit. Thanks for watching.
Nice I like it 👍
Glad you like it. Thanks for watching.
I love Kring point. Something about it is magical.
Yes, we loved it there. Thanks for watching.
😂
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing ❤
You are so welcome
Saw one of these for the first time last month at a state park. The couple that had it showed us their setup. So cool. They had the awning and add-a-room. They were all set. The funny part is that they went from a large fifth wheel trailer to the Kompact Kamp mini mate and they love it. So much easier. We are hoping to get one as well.
Yes, there are many advantages to smaller towables.
Thanks for the video what site is this?
I think it was sight 13.
thanks
You're welcome!
Monmouth County's Turkey Swamp Park, in Freehold, has a nice campground also !!!!
Thanks for sharing - we haven't been there. We'll have to put it on the list.
Hello from Ocean County !!!
Hello there.
Very nice production
Appreciate that. Thanks for watching.
I love it!!!
Glad you like it. Thanks for watching.
Did you use just dry ice or both dry and regular ice
We used both. Someone said that could explode - but we didn't have any issue.
Here is the Tour playlist kzread.info/head/PLvyfMoKfW7ejQhRC0J5YHOnvSVCxsSMLA
Love your information and honesty on designing then building. 5x8 cargo is my next journey. Kiss = Keep it simple sweety. I’m going insulate, add 2 windows, vent fan, bed and counter with sink, 1 fresh water, 1 grey water jugs. I have power station and camping gear. Looking forward to new adventure.❤
You can do it! You will love the adventures - we sure do.
I'm scared already
lol
"Hawkins Bridge!" Be Careful! That's where the Jersey Devil lives. Just sayin'
LOL. Yes, that was the place that felt creepy. I think it's creepy near Caranza too.
I have lived in the Pine Barrens, not far from Batsto, since 1985. At night I can go outside, at various times of the year, and hear Great Horned Owls, Screech-Owls, Chuck-will's-widows, and Coyotes. I used to hear Whip-poor-wills, but haven't heard any in several years. In the late 80s/early 90s I got my pickup stuck in the woods after dark, and walked out for a few hours in total darkness, and never had any eerie feelings or anything. Oh, and also, in all these years of living here, I have never camped here. I haven't gone camping since I did backyard camping with my best friend in North Jersey in the 70s.
We just heard the whip-poor-wills when we camped at Godfrey's Bridge a few weeks ago. We've camped at Hawkins, Godfreys and Atsion. All were fine - we never had an issue. Some spots seemed more eerie than others - but no problems. It's a great area to explore.
@@cargoon-cargoconversionbui2880 Come to think of it, I believe I have audio recordings of Chuck-will's-widows and Whip-poor-wills on my channel, from several years ago. I don't know how well the KZread search function works, but they should be in there.
Thanks I'll check out your channel.
That figure of 1.1 million acres includes farms, towns and housing developments. So it's technically not "over a million acres of wilderness", but that's okay. It's a mostly rural area with a lot of wilderness for sure. The buildings at Friendship were still standing in the 60s, and possibly a little later than that. 20 years ago I knew someone whose family lived there when she was a little girl, which was in the late 60s and maybe early 70s. She remembered riding the school bus down that long bumpy road to Friendship from 563. We just drove through there recently too.
Good point. I can't imagine riding in a school bus down that bumpy road!
Enjoy it while it lasts
thanks we hope to.
Umm, free? Are you sure? I've used that PA state system several times over the last few years (same website, same interactive map, etc.) and every time I reserve a site nowadays, the CHARGE is $10.00 per night or $70.00 per week. Pretty sure it was free till about 2021 or 2022, but I do believe that has changed... Once you type in your desired dates, the $10/$70 rate shows up just under the calendar that shows the dates are available. So could be the charge is fairly new (I've seen other videos complaining about it), or possibly, some areas might be still be free? I've only camped in 3 different areas, so I guess that's possible, but I've had to pay every time for about 3 years now. Or, somebody is seriously ripping me off! 😮😆
You are correct - it was free when we filmed this - but they changed it to a small fee.
@@cargoon-cargoconversionbui2880 Spent last Memorial Day weekend in the State Forest (Tioga, i think) near the Reynolds Spring Natural Area -- I had no idea there were still such REMOTE places in PA. Yeah, free is always better, but $10.00 per night was a small price to pay for how beautiful it was out there!
It's still worth it. Yes, PA has some beautiful remote spots. Beautiful state. I guess I need to change my thumbnail to almost free camping - lol
L😂
glad you got it.
So neat and orderly this looks really nice man good on yall im subbing
Awesome! Thank you! We have a TON of videos. Pop the popcorn and sit back and watch! lol
I can't get into the state park for over a year ,it is so booked up. And most other places are just RV PARKS. Brian, the log cabin guy. If you said TICKS .... thats a big no for me. My dog already has lime disease and a couple of years ago i had something on my back and i pulled it off and it was a big blood filled tick that i must have gotten while mowing high grass at a place i worked at before i retired. Hopefully i don't get lime disease. 😮
We didn't have any problem with reserving a site. But it was early in the season. My dog also had a tick borne illness - he was very sick but a month of antibiotics and now he's good. Hopefully you don't get lyme. Happy camping.

Are you going to do any Stokes Forest camping? Thanks for the clip!
We went up to the Delaware Water Gap for an overnight canoe trip a few years agao- but I don't think it was Stokes. We want to do more primitive camping in NJ - maybe we'll check it out. Thanks for watching and for the tip.
@@cargoon-cargoconversionbui2880 You were probably on Kittatinny Canoes lor Indian Head land in the Delaware. The Appalachian Trail travels through parts of stokes where there are some cabins, but most of it is primitive. Breathkaing views views from Sunrise Mountain road. .
There is such a difference in the flavor, but boy Creed sure changed that all around and now the world is full of all this plastic in our landfills due to people's laziness, Keurig is King. Boy I miss the day when items were made with integrity.
Yeah, we've tried Keurig - but we got tired of it. I was just thinking about giving ours to Goodwill or something - but I'm afraid I may want to use it again! lol
@cargoon-cargoconversionbui2880 Thank you very much!
you are welcome.
I have a 1977 Trillium. I am a 57 yr young woman & started renovations last yr after i got it. I've reframed and polished the back window & kitchen window. Hoping to rehinge door as one bracket is lose, then ill tackle the other windows. I'm terrified of the front window that has the cover, but gotta be brave lol id love to know what your buddy did where the belly band is, as I need to do mine? Thank you for sharing, he did a fantastic job!
Thanks for watching. I'll reach out to Chris so he can answer your question.😀
I recently bought a 2 hp Evinrude outboard to use with my canoe. I tried it for the first time yesterday and decided very quickly that it was too unstable and need outriggers. I really like your design how it just clamps onto the boat without drilling and will incorporate that into my design. Thank you!
You are welcome. Ours is nothing fancy - but it works great. We've even been in some rough back bays with it. Thanks for watching.
This video is a few years old and I don't believe the camping is FREE anymore.
Beautiful dogs. The coach was OK also. Stay safe and take care of those dogs.
lol - thanks for watching
I like the coach I can do without those mutts .
Can't wait to see those Joyzee tomatoes !!!!
Me too!! LOL
Sorry for your loss
Devil
If you hear any gunshots don't stop for anybody.
Did anyone know that NJ was split East and West? crazy - we never knew!
Sadly I do not think that the campsites are no longer free
Yes, it changed shortly after we camped there. Thanks for watching.
Occasionally we will do product reviews of products we use and like. We are Amazon affiliates and here is the product link amzn.to/3UaWpBt
Here is a link to the coffee percolator. amzn.to/4aNVgp6
Thank you ❤
You're welcome 😊. Just don't touch the dry ice!
A percolator coffee pot is good for heating water to do dishes etc. When camping if you don't have a hot water heator
Great idea - thanks for sharing.
OMG! Rick and the percolator presentation! I can’t even…!
yes, He's funny sometimes.
Hope everyone is doing okay.
:)
Remember being a kid in the 60s 70s and smelling the coffee on a Sunday morning using one of them. A great smell.
Sooo looking forward to that smell. Tomorrow morning is brew time.
Be sure to watch the full video to see this couple's adventure.
Can one person do it??
I'm not sure. We saw a few people taking it down. We missed filming the set-up.
If you love your kids keep them off the internet
easier said then done - especially when they are adults. But I know what you mean.
Life Redesigned, These two people, Bob and Karri are great people. My wife and I met them back in 2022. It was great meeting them. They are very honest people. They have not forgotten their roots and their friends.
Although we haven't met them in person (yet). We agree - they are GREAT people and we love this couple!
