    Still shreds after all these years, young people can't appreciate or understand the respect young surfers had for the pioneers of modern surfing like Tom, Shaun Tomsom, Mark Richards, Tom Carroll, Gerry Lopez etc...They were all fearless G.O.A.T.s

    While his turns are unmatched, he has no airgame. Airgame = progression. Without it, you are 1 dimensional, and that doesnt win contests.

  • @RealSurfStories
    @RealSurfStoriesКүн бұрын

    He does amazing airs. Watch the El Salvador freesurf video I made from 2022, he does the craziest high speed slob grab revert and pulls it clean. Ewing is far from one dimensional. He rarely shows his strong air game I believe because the judging criteria generally rewards big carves over airs and he is concentrated on the judging criteria. Thay may change though with more performances like Yago Doras here in El Sal a couple weeks ago! Thanks for the comment and I can see how it would seem that way watching from a distance.

    My first board was an 88 Dogtown Eric Dressen Pup Size. I'm now 48 and, I started collecting late 80s and early 90s boards, and right now I have 8 Dressen boards including my first Dressen, with another 12 boards from different riders. Dressen has always been my favorite skater.

    Why? Like Andy Irons. Similar.

  • @RealSurfStories
    @RealSurfStories2 күн бұрын

    I see that for sure.

  • @jaycee571
    @jaycee571Күн бұрын

    Nothing like Andy, Andy was unpredictable and attacked the wave with speed and wrecklass abandon and wasn't afraid to fall, he used parts of the wave that no one used. Ethan is very measured and somewhat predictable their are elements of his style and body placement that are similar to Andy but Ethan is a much more safer and somewhat watered down version, great surfer.

  • @RealSurfStories
    @RealSurfStoriesКүн бұрын

    @@jaycee571 I feel Ethan is completely focused on and molding his surfing for contests, yet Ethan does possess a lot of the aspect's of A.I. 's surfing that you mention here, but does rarely busts them out.

    I was four in 1976. But I do remember getting to watch Lopez and a little bit of Buttons coming up as a kid. But honestly these two guys had more style in their big toe than most of the guys today. I think it's somewhat become so much more performance-based that sometimes style is left out. But when you see it you know exactly what it is that makes that Rider looks so freaking good. RLTW 3/75

    Been surfing since 67. This brings back great memories of awesome surf with no crouds an very few egos. It's sad that some surfers sold out and took this great lifestyle and went commercial with it. I still catch surf and enjoy it but it's not the same. Too much aggression and too many egos. Sorry boys you missed the gold. Soul surfer for life. Forever stoked.

    Loved this old footage, brought back a lot of memories. I especially want to thank you for the Caldera footage. I forgot the name of that break..one time when the shore break was too big at Playa Hermosa , I decided to drive up to Boca Barranca but on the way saw this amazing left off a jetty. Had no idea where I was or anything about this break. I paddled out alone and had an amazing surf session. The only thing was the water smelled like gasoline and stung my eyes. Probably from the nearby refinery/ship yard. I swear if I lit a match the ocean would have been ablaze!

    A great big thumbs down for the crap music in the video. You know the crap music that P Diddy Jay Z and the rest of them put out at the expense of young people. Crap music has destroyed the lives of hundreds of thousands of young black and brown people. Celebrating it in a video definitely deserves a thumbs down. It leads me to think that these two Surfers might be diddly diddly is as well.

    So...I guess you commented without even watching the video? Sounds like you are talking about the less than one minute intro hip hop music- which is nothing like what you described. Because the entire video is completely varied musically.
