Dr Jayaprakash Narayan is a physician by training and served as a member of the Indian Administrative Service for 16 years. He had a tremendously successful tenure and held many important positions in the government of South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. During the course of his service, he acquired deep insights into the Indian governance process and the problems afflicting the nation.
Dr Narayan is the founder of Lok Satta Movement & Lok Satta Party, and is also the founder and General Secretary of Foundation for Democratic Reforms, an independent public-policy think-tank and research-resource center. A giant in policy and reform, he has been instrumental in driving three constitutional amendments and over 15 landmark legislative acts.
He served as a member the National Advisory Council (NAC), Second Administrative Reforms Commission, and Vigilance Advisory Council.

Koritala siva garu, i have a film concept or STORY on ( economic development). 1) for govt services, govt should NOT be monopoly. E.g u need birth certificate. U should be able to get from govt. Office and also from authorised private office. Now everything is computerised. 2) mee seva says that it will give only 50 to 75 tokens per day. So give additional licence to 5 private agencies as everthing is computerised. 3) apply same to even police stations. U can approach govt PS for service or private PS for paid service. 4) private courts to handle pending cases in time bound manner. Increases employment and prevents monopoly. 5) stop licence to sell houses. Instead they should act as limited companies giving rents in govt prescribed rates. Advantage: people wont waste there money by buying 10 lakh house for 1.5 crores. They will either spend or save. This fuels economy, jobs, and economic prosperity. 6) tax ememption if they show gst recieps(automated in ITR form) either in form of spendings or 5 , 10, 15 year long term savings or investments. So people will stop thinking of evading taxes, stop buying unncessary gold, stop dealing cash or buying unnecessary properties. 7) i have an idea of how to build international capital city with zero % contribution from center state. What is the necessity to give DA and other incentives to government employees. Why 'the government not able to control expenditure and government employees in Education and Medical departments. At the same time judiciary and law and order.

Sir , u selectively criticise kerla govt on loans. But bjp raised loans reached to 110 lakh crores. Despite increased taxes, curtailed subsidies, cut off pensions, increased fines. Not making gst payments to opposition states like bengal. Stopping mandega funds. Sir, pl. Join bjp. And poor anchoring. He is not asking right questions. Just saying " yes boss".
Reservation is the problem
Thanks for doing the interview. I think a deep dive in each topic would help, and if people like you set goals and and show the way I am sure the public and government will support and do their best to bring some change. There are many fundamentals wrong in India unfortunately from basic facilities to governance and accountability etc. A simple example is the number of medals India won in Olympics for the size of the nation.

Dear Dr. Jayaprakash, 1. If a political party is winning on promising welfare schemes, how would one compete with them? . It is evident that political parties that promis such schemes win, example Karnataka. Reason for this is that the majority of the population would benefit instantaneously with non- sustainable benefits, and people who are getting these benefits are the majority people who cast their votes. Assuming votes of intellectual Individuals are not the deciding votes. 2. Once a political party comes into power and would want to make necessary amendments for the benefit of the people, if they then do so, the party would not sustain as ruling party. If they want to sustain they too have to play the game of who is giving more. This also applies to cast based votes too, i.e, schemes that give benefits to people who belong to a certain cast. In the context of drawing a bigger line to make the one already existing smaller. What is the bigger line ? We are in an evil world, do you need necessary evil to get better world?

Great interview by koratala… one genuine question to JP & Koratala garu, everyone is hating reservation but i genuinely feel that no one explained why we need reservation and is reservation is the reason why genuine candidates losing opportunity.? What is the reason exactly ? I genuinely believe that someone told people that Telangana is required for people so everyone stood up and fought for it. Why don’t we have rules reserved categories to give up reservation based on the social status?? Why upper caste people are still not accepting lower caste marriages and people around them??? Is these things going to keep the reservation cycle on and on forever???
People in the country should focus on productivity, skills and efficiency. Become highly skilled in your own interests and fields or multi-skilled, instead of wasting time on social media, politics & false beliefs, religious myths etc.. . In USA we do our home repairs, Car oil changes, yard work, cooking, and cleaning home apart from our regular day engineering management job, and on top of that hobbies like photography and graphic design etc.. As one person with many talents and productivity.....works 16 hours in a day.... So as other countries like Japan , Singapore and Korea even though they are richer.

One thing is clear don’t compare with India with other countries, we have more population, more youth than any other countries. Before British we are so good every village is an industrial hub people doing their own duties living their lives happily. When brits came to india Mcalley found that there is no in this country without work and without education, to rule us they changed the education system into Macally education and ruined. Even after they left the country same education system we are following till now . We are bound to be slaves in somehow are the other, we are biggest democratic country and our system is corrupted and everyone habituated to short cuts and easy money. But fortunately we were growing big in last 14 yrs , all the first world countries are considering our voice and We are now at peak stage in Geopolitics. Coming to skill sets we are more skilled than any other country but here due to reservation and lack of payments those skilled people are going other countries and setting.
