I have noticed in last two episodes I watched that there were names on the costume boxes. I remember going to school and allot of times you weren't allowed to wear the costume to school, but around mid day they would have a costume contest and parties in the various classrooms. Some parents did this so their child wouldn't lose his/ her costume at school 👍
You are 100% correct. I finally figured it out myself after years of doing these lol. Thats what I find so special about these that they survived at all. I know some people like Mint in box, but these ones that were actually worn on Halloween have a special vibe to them!
I was so into these costumes when I grew up that when Spirit Halloween released their Vintage monsters collection, I had to get them. They are currently on my wall..😂👍🦇
They are works of art , aren't they?
Was just kinda thinking that D. Robbins could have just as easily been a Donna, Debbie, Dolly etc... Just as you popped back up in the video and made mention of that ... Very fun and cool video!!... i really liked the Mod looking lady mask from the first 3 also!! Lastly.. Have you seem the Ben Cooper action figures of kids in the costumes W/ masks that Neca just released!?!?!... If not I kinda think you would like them alot!! And each is like $20 bucks.... Thanx for making the video
Thanks! I’m glad someone appreciates my humor! lol. I have seen the Neca figures and have picked up a few. They are very cool and I’ll probably showcase them in a future episode!
@@doctordurantssanctum1977 Cool Cool ... They definitely surprised me in just how cool the figures are for that Price point!! I only have the 2 from Walmart. But definitely want to try and get some others. The only thing that seems like a huge miss for me is that the masks aren't separate and removable !! Anyway the humor was spot on and funny!! Sorry for rambling... Thanx again!!
@@DOCDOCFLAMINGOS no worries! Ramble away! The only two I don’t have yet are the Wal Mart ones. I agree making the masks removable would have been a plus.

Nice! Ive seen that costume. It's very cool!
Would love to see this. Don't know if it is still in the works. Your videos are always an event.
Would you believe I am working on that episode as we speak! Hope to finish it soon
Superb and thank you! From one Monsterkid to another!!! Yes! The newsprint smell! I had #2 and how I survived childhood…
Thanks Bela! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for subscribing! Monsters got me through life as well!
There was very legitimate reasons why Marvel never referenced the Mafia. Firstly, the mob was heavily involved in the (trucking) distribution of comics and magazines to the news stands. “The entire comics industry was forged in the world of mobs and gangsters as laid out in Gerard Jones’s excellent book Men of Tomorrow: Geeks, Gangsters, and the Birth of the Comic Book. Indeed as late as the 80’s, the mob had a hand in the distribution pie as Jim Shooter points out in his blog.” Secondly, the first season of THE UNTOUCHABLES used mentioned the Mafia and as legend has it, Desi Arnez was visited by a couple of gangsters who convinced him never to use that name again. Even in other 1960s shows (MISSION IMPOSSIBLE comes to mind), organized crime was referred to as, “the organization “ “the company” or “the outfit”. I would like to think that Lee & Kirby could have clobber any goon that would have paid them a visit -- but having SPIDER-MAN’s comic pulled from the news stands was one battle they couldn’t win. Great show as usual!
Catching up on some old episodes? Glad you enjoyed it! Great comments and insight on the "Maggia" ;) I read the book Men of Tomorrow many years ago. No doubt you're right about the term and the influence organized crime had at that time ,especially in NYC.So was The Godfather the first time the Mafia was mentioned in a major motion picture? My most recent episode was very comic heavy and focused on that great Bronze age period (my favorite) of comics! BTW I am a HUGE fan of The Untouchables!
and I forgot you did see the most recent episode as we discussed it in the comments! Im getting old! lol
@@doctordurantssanctum1977 if memory serves, I thought GODFATHER II was the 1st time “the Mafia” was mentioned (during the hearing scene). The Black Hand was another alias used in films produced in the 50s/60. Not so much as catching up since I have seen each episode many times. I guess somewhere between the 4th to 6th rewatch, I get a little bold and consider commenting on older post. I am confident if we compare our interest, many lines would intersect on the popular culture graft.
@@patrickodonnell1352 No doubt! Comment away my friend. I always enjoy reading them and conversing with you. Please watch as many times as you like! I can use the views! lol
Not sure if anyone knows this since this video is a couple yrs old as of now ..Neca has made Ben Cooper Halloween action figures..They made Frankenstein,Creature Black lagoon and a few others all with a 70’s vibe..They’re pricey but they look great!
I’m aware and ordered a few. I have some custom ones in another video on the channel that are great and showcase a few on my instagram page as well. Thanks for commenting.

Boscpv's is mainly in the NEPA to Philly area.
Thanks. Is it still around? We don’t have many local department stores that remain in this area. There were so many greats growing up as well. Zayre, Kings, Bradlees, Caldors, Woolworths etc
Nice collection. If you ever see those vintage 1960s - 1970's vinyl Ultraman and Kaiju action figures made by The "Bull Mark" toy company (predecessor to Ban Dai)... those go for hundreds of dollars. I've seen them go for that much at collector expos in my city. They can still go for decent money even if out of the bag. Depends on condition. I've seen the twelve inch 1970's era (out of the package yet in decent looking condition) Ultraman and Mirror Man action figures with the removable mask edition go for $400 a piece. I've even seen people pay $20 to $50 for poor condition vintage figures for the parts (arms, legs, tails, heads, removable masks) they are missing to complete their own incomplete figure. I've bought the (more contemporary 1990's - 2000's era) six inch "Mother of Ultra" and "Father of Ultra" (out of the package) action figures for $3 a piece at a recent convention. The contemporary eight to twelve inch figures go from anywhere between $10 to $30 (still in the package or the box) I guess it is like any other vintage toys... they are worth a lot more money today. Though the contemporary toys are still cool to have.
Thanks so much and thanks for the info! As I said in the video Ultraman wasnt big in my market growing up, but I love it now and this was a nice find!
On a bright note, the poor girl who met up with Mr. Hyde seems to have survive the incident just to make another appearance with Jack the Ripper. Somehow, the same girl (somehow or another) survived the flames from the witch burning just to meet her final doom with that unboiled crab. The tape editor must have got her spliced in there while in the torture chamber as a memorial. Stuff happens you know.
Ha ha! It’s still a chilling scream! Lol
One of my favorite and most memorable LPs from childhood! Completely forgot what the back cover looked like. Thanks!
Those of us that heard this ad a kid remember it! Thanks for watching! I hope you enjoyed it!
Another banger my friend! Now I need to check my boxes for these books and seek them out if I don’t own them! Great vid!
In 1970 I was 10 years old and magazines like Famous Monsters, Monster Madness, Eerie and Creepy were a very big deal, if you missed a movie on TV or the theater, you might not have a chance to see it again, but you always had the magazines to fall back on
Yup! That’s why we cherished them. It was hard trying to hunt down all these great films before VHS. Sometimes all we had was a photo from FM or a picture in a book.
Kool collection thsnks 4 sharing
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Wowza..... there was so much more to this than I knew.... Sad ending ...re-realizing everyone is gone...I never got to meet Bernie, Dammit! (*Sigh) .. Epic Statue!!
Thats why I always try and take the opportunity to meet some of the greats when I go to con's now. Wrightson and Len Wein went to many con's, sadly I never had the chance to meet them. Most conventions now focus on celebrities and the comics guys are really pushed to the side. It's kind of sad! Thanks for watching!
Nothing will ever beat a Halloween in New England in the 1970s.
Damn right!!
Sweet. I got to meet with the man for the first time when I was hired to work on a Bela Lugosi documentary that we shot at the Ackermansion. I even had a table at the last two of his Famous Monsters Conventions in Virginia and Hollywood. Lucky me I even got to know the "Horrorwood Brat Pack" (Ackerman, Bradbury, Harryhausen) through my film school and attended many events where they got together. I am a HUGE fan and still have most of my FM magazines. Thank you for this.
How cool! You got to meet the man himself and participate in a Bela Lugosi documentary. Thats fang-tastic!
Thanks for the kind words! You’re so lucky to have met and hung out with those legends! You must have some great stories to tell!
@@doctordurantssanctum1977 Thanks for the pun... very Forry-esque.
@@doctordurantssanctum1977 I have a few. I may reveal them on my KZread channel.
I love the score for this weird little gem. William Lava wrote music for the worst of the Looney Tune Cartoons as well as the old sitcom "F-Troop". Hell, Lon Chaney and J. Carroll Nash hadn't worked together since "House of Frankenstein" in the 40's... not to mention one of the stars of "Freaks" Angelo Rossitto.
It is great! I actually have the score on cd. I didn’t know Luna scored Looney Tunes . You’re right on the stars as well! Great group of classic monster actors trying their best to get a paycheck

That's my kind of Superhero Comic!!
Thanks Mikey!
Outstanding episode! If you are interested in seeing home movies of the Halloween parade, the Internet Archive has a bunch of them. Also, one small point, I don’t think Batman knew of the existence of Spider-Man. I think it is more likely that he was referring to a real spider and not the Marvel superhero. Fight me!
Thanks Patrick! I will not fight you though! lol! I need to check out those home movies! I wish I could have gone back in the day but I was far too young! A guy that works at one of the comic book stores I have been going to for years actually went to the parade back in the day. I found a picture of him dressed as Prince Valiant.

My very first movie related collection started in 1976 FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILM LAND mags then STARLOG and FANGORIA now I was able to sit and look at pictures of monster films I loved seeing on late night TV and Theaters ,then later early 80’s I started collecting music recordings to cassettes from rock to whole movies to listen to like naming one is Escape from New York then mid 80’s VHS holly cow now I could start a movie library.
I don't remember every costume I had but my coolest for a young boy was the glow in the dark Ultraman. We didn't get cable but my younger than me second best friend's parents allowed me to play & watch TV.
That sounds awesome! Love that story! We didn’t have Ultraman on Tv where I grew up. I’ve seen those Ultraman costumes before! Very cool!
I still have it! Classic! Truly terrifying to listen to as a ten year old. 😅
If you remember the Remco monsters....the mummy was the hardest one to get....at least for me. Not the 12 inch dolls...the ones from the 80s that were action figure sized
I had the 3 3/4 inch mummy as a kid. That’s the hardest one to find now as well!
Where'd you get that?
Which one?
A highlight of my childhood was walking to the local store to buy the newest issue of Famous Monsters of Filmland. When I approached the magazine rack and saw the latest issue with its beautiful cover art, WOW! I was on cloud nine! Fond and cherished memories.
