    Finally, someone to explain this procedure. THANK YOU SIR. It was driving me nuts because i could not find any videos on this. After watching you. I've decided that I'm not going to tackle that. I'll figure out something else. But you did great with showing the video in detail of what has to be done. Thanks Again.

    I just bought a 2008 528i as a 2nd car in Florida. Clean car with only 79,000 miles on it and I saw in the paperwork that the oil filter housing was leaking, so I looked and cleaned it up and sure enough....it is leaking. This is a 2nd home, and I don't have all my tools but after watching you certainly with limited tools .....and limited talents (mine) this can be done pretty straight forward. I do some videos myself and can say it isn't easy and you did a great job. Straight forward and you are definitely Passingasgarage approved!!!!!!

    I am in process of doing this soon. Do u have to drain any coolant or oil? Will coolant system have air pockets after this? Just replaced coolant flange recently and lost some coolant and had to top it off and use the cycling procedure to get air pockets out. According to BMW if you have air pockets can cause engine to overheat. Also what's the torque specs on bolts? I hear is 2 diffrent specs for the oil gasket and for the coolant gasket? Other than that great video and explanation.

Do you know what can be the problem?

  • @Croket71

    Yes, thats correct, that sub is punch and puts out great sound.. its a day and night difference, what I'd like to do is get a bass control knob for this amp because its a pain in the butt to get to the bass section through this head unit. Overall I'm really happy with how it turned out, with its stealthy, and no visible wires, no one would ever know its not stock. Thanks for watching.

    oil probably got in from the oil filter housing into the oil cooler when they removed it. simply open the coolant reservoir and stick an oil absorbing pad or a stick. that'll to the trick (or flush the whole system if there's a lot of oil in it).

    Hey, did you ever put an amp in your passenger side kick panel? I'm wondering what aftermarket 5 channel amp would fit in there...can't find the dimensions of the factory one anywhere...any recomendations? just bought a 2007 SC.

  • @Croket71
    @Croket713 жыл бұрын

    Let me Start off by congratulating you on your purchase, I've had mine for roughly 5 years now and I love it. Unfortunately I haven't gotten around to the kick panel amp yet, I'm at 225k miles and she's asking for some repairs so they have taken priority, nevertheless the amp project is still on the list. I have my mind set on the Alpine KTA-450, its a 4 channel that ill use for the doors as the sub has its own amp. Based on all my research the KTA-450 should fit the opening (with minor mounting tweaks) and other than the RCA's that I ran to that location in one of the 3 part videos I shouldn't have to run anymore cabling (at least thats the plan). Cheers!

    @@Croket71 thanks, man! It's pretty cool....one thing that will take some getting used to is the ride. I'm coming from an element ex that had a softer ride on the road. this one is a stiffer suspension and feels like a car. can be a little annoying as I feel every bump and dip in the road. but all in all- a beauty. I might just add a radio and speakers and forget the sub as that seems like a pretty complex matter and I don't have the time, at least now, but do you remember the name and model of the amp that you mentioned fits in the kick panel? I'd like to look into that.

  • @Croket71
    @Croket713 жыл бұрын

    Hello, its the Alpine KTA-450, its a 4 channel that ill use for the doors. Thats what I'll be replacing the stock kick panel amp with. I have noticed the SC ride is a bit stiffer than other Elements I've ridden in. It will take some getting used too. That is due to the "beefier" suspension on the SC Model. I honestly don't know why they changed they made the SC suspension any different, I mean its because its not like the Element is rated to pull and RV or extremely Heavy loads. But with that "upgraded" suspension comes a bit higher parts price and even hard to find parts (thanks goodness for on-line resellers)

    I followed this 3 part video series to install a 6.75 Kicker CompRT Subwoofer and a 5 channel Amplifier on my Honda Element LX. Everything went smoothly, except I ended up cutting the entire A/C vent that goes underneath the seat. I tried to cut it in half, but it wasn't enough space. It gave my amp so much space once eliminated. You'll know what I mean if you watch part 3 towards the end of his install. Extra info: Overall, I'm very happy with this tutorial. I WILL SAY.... it is an intense install. I did it from 5pm-11pm on Day 1, then from 9am to 12 pm on Day 2. There's a lot of wire cutting, routing, measurements, and a bit of multimeter using to check the ohms of a subwoofer. I wanted to quit mid-way but took a deep breath and pushed through. Mostly because I know my way. I've installed an aftermarket radio, dashcam powered by the fuse box, backup camera, big-4 audio upgrade, and other electric-related stuff on my same Honda Element. My recommendation is to start on a Friday after work and work your way through the weekend. Definitely ask for guidance from your local/friendly shop around town if you need help or google the answer. When I first started I thought black wire had to be ground and red wire had to be for power.... ha... it's just for your color-coding ADHD. Moreover, If you have an aftermarket radio, then buy a 50feet double, oxygen-free copper speaker wire from amazon and cut it into 4 parts. Basically, you'll end up with four (4) 12.5 feet speaker wires. One for each speaker. For my RCA cables I bought one OFC 4 Channel 17 feet set, and one 17 feet OFC 1 channel RCA cables from Crutchfield. Basically for the four speakers and the subwoofer. I just drilled/screwed the subwoofer into the box with wood screws. 0 disregards, straight to the point.
