I make weird videos about budget and used tech since all the big boy tech youtubers forgot what it's like to be poor with their three houses and Porsche's. Ampere? Raptor Cove? We're still rocking Pascal and Zen 3 for a third of the price! Oh and some people like my voice sometimes.

    On the GPUs, I'd hazard a guess that the nas doesn't have CSM/CSM enabled and can't initialise the older cards which are designed to work with legacy BIOSes? Whereas the 1650 will have a UEFI GOP, meaning it doesn't require that to function properly.

    at this point I just want these manufacture to make a real good case for putting normal motherboard and hard drives in (horizontal orientation, around 4-6 hard drives minimum, good structure integrity for the hard drive mount (for enterprise hard drive vibration endurance)). then they can add their mark up, profit on it without resorting to these expensive hardware and expensive software development. for software just put together a "community project" if you don't like existing ones. open source it so if people don't like something they can go fix and change it themselves.

    cases in the old day with 4-6 3.5-inch bays in front and some 5.25-inch bays on top is already good enough. but finding them in good condition these days are hard. and putting long and big gpu in them is not possible.

    lmao okay well in the future, it'd be helpful if you actually told us more about the NAS part of this thing. I still don't know what the read/write speeds after putting however many drives in, for instance. 2.5 gig home networking isn't expensive so I'd figure you'd be highlighting that for us since that kind of thing is what your channel is about.

    10gbit is a better option nowadays tbh, SFP+ switches are pretty cheap and you can always adapt SFP+ to 10000BASE-T

  • @andrewmcewan9145
    @andrewmcewan9145Күн бұрын

    @@thegeekykitten468910gb is enthusiastic for home use still. Pricing can be similar to 2.5g but it's considerably more power hungry and you need cat6 or better. Also the sfp to copper adptors have way less power available than a native 10gb ethernet switch and may nessatate cat6a or better or the copper run is just too long. (Just run fibre if you need to re run and want 10gb+) Every step narrows down exzisting home installs feasibility for 10gb. 2.5g is fine on cat5e. Edit, ex in my home my networking core is remote from my server core. If there in the same place it's really easy to have a much faster core and backbone.

    If you really want to unlock what this camera can do, the magic lantern stuff is essential, it unlocks a lot of really useful stuff including RAW (though, be careful with that, you can overheat it, the CPU on it just doesnt cope well with long shoots doing that, though modern fast SD cards make it possible, and hey ask the high end pros about RED cameras and heat lol.) and fix that autogain guff as well as letting you black balance, focus peaking, zebra stripes etc for really calibrating that video output. And for photography, it has some fun stuff like HDR multi exposure photography.

    you should try to get a t530, slap an extreme edition i7, overclock (yes you can mod a t530 to support overclock) above 4.5ghz, add a gpu on it, and game. only suggestion would be getting either a model with dedicated gpu (that will be disabled) or upgrading the cooler to a regular one. the models with gpus have a better cooling solution that's needed for overclocking
