The senses become intertwined in the mind of the artist. Sounds appear as colors, numbers sing songs and frequencies dance in my head. Synesthesia is a crossing of the senses. The mixed media work represent a beautiful blending of sounds, nature and science.
I experiment, paints write and teach at my studio in Santa Fe, NM and across the globe. I also teach around the US, Europe and Australia. I am the author of five art technique books, several DVDs and my work has been featured in numerous books and magazines.
My latest book, Awakening Your Creative Soul was deemed an Amazon Best Seller and my online Creative Soul Courses have been a hit with artists globally of all backgrounds.

Thank you for a great video. Will the method work if you dry it with blow dryer. Thank you again❤❤❤
@@SMART-pn3fn no let it dry naturally.
Hi Sandra - thanks for the tutorial ... does this work with clear gesso?
@karenw8929 Well, the purpose of using gesso is to provide a white background, so if you want a transparent transfer, just use gloss gel.
@@SandraDuranWilson I haven't tried the gloss gel method. I was just thinking about the possibility of layering images and the gesso would fix the previous layer making it possible to overlap multiple layers. But, I don't know if the method will work with clear gesso or not.
@karenw8929 yes, it would work with cleas gesso, but if you really want it to be transparent do the same steps as the video but use gloss gel

@@teresajordao6634 you are so welcome. My blog that is coming out later today goes beyond this. You can find it on my website or sign up for the newsletters.
What’s the difference between working with a glass bead medium vs working with diamond dust? Can you use diamond dust in the same way the glass bead gel is used?
@@juliebelcher8433 I use the glass bead gel because of the texture it provides. What I am familiar with the dust is that it is more like sparkle but no texture.
Very helpful, thank you!😊

Susan, you make mixed media doable. Thank you for your step-by-step instructions!

Omg I remember that dvd. So many peeps were going crazy to Venetian plaster evrything. And yes, I did dozens of walls, entire rooms, pillars, murals, bars, canvas, wood, planters, pots, statues and more. I just love working with textures. My latest craze is using pastry rolling pins or textures rollers I make. I really enjoy your work and always inspired and excited to see your work and videos😁
@@tomasinaconti4140 thanks! I love using the clay texture rollers as well.
The clay or texture rollers/stamps do create a more defined pattern that are lovely. And easier to work with especially to grunge it❤️
Thanks! 🩷🩷
I fell in love with this plaster INSTANTLY. The texture, the possibilities, the color, just blew my mind. Thank you for this introduction to the Venetian Plaster. ❤❤❤😊

I had the most fun watching you, I had this big ole' smile on my face the whole time! Could you please tell me about the wide brush that you used to remove paint in a pattern?
This is a silicone brush that is slightly curved and is cut. If you watch my previous video on my favorite tools you will find a link to my Amazon store. Check the links in comments on this one as well.
I love your videos! Thank you for sharing your talent with the world. Bob Burridge has the Best color wheel out there. I reccomend it for anyone that needs help with choosing colors.
Thanks. I will try one of his.
Muchas gracias por tus vídeos. Eres un amor de comunicadora. Llevo 2 años buscando una tinta o acrílico de color negro y brillante. Una pregunta: puedo diluirlo en agua?.
If it is an acrylic ink you can dilute it with water.
So much useful information, thanks!

Beautiful efects! I dont find this produt here but I have done similar whith silicone glue, of course Tar gel must be better 😏😍😘😘
Yes, glue is another great idea.
Tar gel is a gel medium for oil, acrilic and watercolor? Thanks for the video! 🩷🩷
It is for acrylic.
Hey Sandra, the adhesive grout on fabric is interesting. What kind of fabric do you use, and is the grout layered on it? Did you use big pieces of material or small pieces? Did you let it dry and then cut it in pieces? I always enjoy your teaching. Thanks Nina
I used muslin and put a thin layer on first, pressing it in and then added a thick layer. Let dry, paint and cut. There is a KZread video on this on my channel.
Super ideas, thanks I will be trying this. What fun with an amazing result. Thanks 🤩 🎨🖌️

So cool!! I have so many stencils...i can't wait to see what i can do with them!! I have several products i think might work!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 So excited!! Thank you so much!!
You are very welcome and post on the Creative Awakening FB page.
I love how they all turned out!! I really need to do this more. The pieces I don't like don't get any more beautiful in a box!! Thank you for all the great ideas...as always!! ☺️
You are so right. Those little paint elves don't seem to work on the pieces hidden in the back of the closet.
P.S. Re the one with the photo, is that just a photocopy of your photo that you adhered on (not a transfer, etc.)?
Correct.
Great ideas, Sandra! I have the book but hadn't run across this yet!!

AH - funny timing - I'm doing just this type of thing right now. Re-working some paintings and up-working some abandoned pieces. I also keep the same titles and inventory numbers. I share the before and after; people really like to see the transformations.
