Now imagine that North Korea has quite a few of these and they will carry a squad of SF troops ... now imaging N Korea decided to wreck havoc at a US airbase in S Korea --- they land and take off from taxiways or the grass infield. Kid of makes you a little more vigilant.

These planes would be perfect in areas of Alaska and for Buffalo Airways in Canada but politics have kept them out of USA and Canada when they were in their prime years. Parts may be getting much harder to come by now.

Mike, I met you in Australia at the turn of the century. Chris was off wandering about nearby, I think? You told me he was contemplating his future, which I suppose is where we are now. I'm not sure how I got this inscribed copy of Hudson/Yukon? Dated Sept. that year so you must've sent it to me. I'm reading it to my kids :-) Glad to see you're having adventures. - Mellë

Thanks so much for sharing this clip of Bill... awesome to hear him tell some of the story. The movie was a def. a 3-star (great scenery thou!) yet the story of this event is captivating. Anyone know if the two found are still alive... where they live... how was their lives, etc.? Really bummed at the lack of info about the real people at the end of the movie.... even about Bill.

You would think after so many years of doing this the fish population would decline we have commercial fishing we’re I like and they have out fished our perch and sunfish to the point we don’t catch few if no sunfish because a big group of 40 men come out catch 35 lbs of sunfish while ice fishing and then throw there smalls to the seagulls and then they look at me that’s a 13 generation VTer and say I don’t know were all the fish went they don’t like it when I say we’ll that 35 lbs of sunfish or perch that took u all day to get and you get 20$ for it everyday all winter along with the 1200 people that have been doing it for the last 25 years of corse we have no perch or sunfish in lake Champlain!

Those fishwheels were heavily used in Alaska in the early 20th century, primarily to catch salmon to be dried and later fed to SLED DOGS. Thats right, those northern pooches were eating on a daily basis fishes that today is considered the creme de la creme of cuisine!

These fish runs are doomed. The wheels just keep turning and catching. The trawlers keep bycatching and dumping dead in the ocean. "Free fish" so no one wants to stop even when they already have enough for their needs.
