Coach Bennett

This channel was created to celebrate the sport of running and track & field over ten years ago when I was teaching and coaching at the high school level. I hope to share some of the great stories of this sport as well as the amazing athletes behind them here. Running can motivate and inspire. Be a fan. It's your sport after all. I'll also be answering questions and helping you become that best version of yourself on this channel. This is my personal channel and not affiliated in any way with anyone else or any other entity. Hope you enjoy the content!

A couple of funny things. 1) there is one year in California where his time would have put him in 3rd place. 2) of course, if he was racing against those two other guys, he might have run even faster. 3) He did this as a junior. He did not beat (or even match) this time as a senior. Basically his older self ran against his twin little brother - and lost.

I needed this! I just had to stop running a marathon at 34km, so close to the end but I hurt my knee a few km before than and couldn't go on any longer. I felt like such a failure but this has helped. Thanks Coach❤

he probably looked at cycling for strategy, it's common in road cycling to "attack" in an unexpected segment somewhat far from finish to build an advantage and then go back to pace until the final sprint. He likely trained for it too, to figure out what the best moment for that attack is, the perfect balance of a good advantage and having enough track left afterward to run at "normal pace" for his legs to be ready for the final all out sprint.

You always are more capable of something than you realize. You always have to ask yourself “ am I really giving this all I’ve got? Can I try harder?” If you’re honest with yourself, you probably aren’t giving all you’ve got, even though you may feel you are. Ask anyone who is successful and they’ll tell you about working harder than you think you can.
