    I told the hubbie, I ran across a use for the discarded hoses. My parents were post depression and my mom tried to use every thing. It drives my husband nuts. I’ll have useful trash hidden. He finds and gets rid of it and if I’m lucky, I notice it and hide it somewhere different. His family obviously had more money than mine but we had more fun making things together. Janice.

    You sound like my husband and me. He’s older, but I grew up poorer. Where he sees trash, I see use. I often shop the construction side of the dump. (Don’t worry, I worked construction, and I know how to be safe.) I have rehabbed parts of my 200 year old home with cast offs. People are too quick to throw anything away. I grabbed a weedeater from the dump. It looked too new to be there. My husband was afraid someone would see us. I took it home, took it apart, and realized the previous owner had crossed the wires. In twenty minutes, I had it running. My husband said, “Smarty,” and went into the house. Keep recycling all!

    Hello, thank you for sharing. I love that color. I have a dark red-brown leather couch I got for free, it's old; I wanted to change the color to a lighter color like your chair; do you think it will be okay, if so how many coats do you think it would take? Thank you!

  • @marcieziv
    @marciezivАй бұрын

    Greetings! I would recommend doing a test area in an inconspicuous area of your sofa. A darker color could take quite a few coats. Even for test area make sure you prep area then paint giving adequate time in between each layer of paint until you’ve reached desired opacity. Good luck in this project. 😊thank you for watching my channel.

    Lovely Marcie, can I ask...did you apply any type of top-coat to your freshly painted chairs? How is the paint holding up? Thank you.

  • @marcieziv
    @marciezivАй бұрын

    Greetings! No. I didn’t use a topcoat. The paint I used was a three in one ; prime, paint and sealer. Heirloom Traditions & they say it’s not necessary. So, that said. Let’s go on to how they are holding up. We had a delightful dinner guest one evening who had tanning solution on her legs… we were dismayed the next day after seeing this because it would not come out of the newly painted chair. Additionally another guest had black jeans so we got a dye transfer on another chair. I didn’t have any more of this paint so I deglazed once again and used Angelus z leather paint. I mixed a bone gray and white to give a bit of tint and repainted all 6 stools. Then sealed with a matte topcoat by Angelus. So far it’s ok. We use these day in and day out. Fingers crossed. Thank you for watching. Side note to this; I would def run a test on any vinyl or pleather chairs first. I’ve used both products on real leather before with great results. The vinyl I’m not 💯🥰

    I was given several bowling balls a year ago by a neighbor and gave up trying to find a good tutorial for doing mosaics on them. Greetings! They’re a few things I would do differently in making another gazing ball for my garden. The first thing I would do differently is I would take and mortar strips around my bowling ball beforehand and then cover it giving your tessarae some grit to adhere to. ( see my video on mortar mache on plastic planters) or use fiberglass tape strips and mortar skim coat over that . (why do this? My gazing ball cracked .. I feel that perhaps the expansion and contraction of the bowling ball material in Florida heat made it do this. The other material that would highly suggest and I also have a video on this because I had to save the bowling ball that that was cracked with all the glass on it, and I covered itl with apoxy and tessarae .. apoxy is very durable. This is out in my garden now and looks amazing still. I’ve included a link here for you. kzread.info/dash/bejne/q2mo0KpwpdGsmbQ.htmlsi=zJ01kuBIEU8Ucoz_ I am forever experimenting with materials and enjoy passing on this information to my viewers. Thank you for watching. I hope I explained this clear enough. Let me know if you have other questions.

  • @marcieziv
    @marciezivАй бұрын

    Greetings!! Out of the 4 planters in video two are being used as a”cache pot” which simply put means placing another planter inside this one. The other plastic pots I kept the integrity of single holes for drainage if I want to plant in there directly. Thank you for watching my channel.

  • @marcieziv
    @marciezivАй бұрын

    @sheilagilleland4312 yes! If you want to paint or stain them first then seal them that’s great. The sealer that was used here is ONLY for unpainted mortar, brick, cement etc. you need a different sealer for painted mortar. There are many many options out there. Thank you for watching my channel and taking time to comment. We all learn with these questions/ answers. 😍

  • @marcieziv

    Hello! If it were me and I had that in hand I would use it. I don’t feel you would need to use glue like I did with the wall compound. If the spackle is ready to use I would use as is. Again this wouldn’t be for an outdoor planter. So paper mache over the plastic planter pot then use spackle. .. and it’s sandable too! Have fun and thx for watching my channel.

    Nice video. I've cut glass regularly for work for years. Just some constructive critique. You are pressing much too hard when you score. The wheel should only make a light score breaking the glass surface. Your wheel will last longer and your success rate will be better if you lighten the score. I subscribed.
