I have this same machine and dearly love it. A 2017 model, 50 watt. Many many hours on this machine and no issues at all
Kreg Tools! Love it!!
Appreciate ya watching my ridiculousness! Haha
HERO ALSO these cnc videos are so nicely done. Very thought out. Thank you 😎
Aw. Thanks buddy! 😘😘
Pickles
Haha yeah!!
Thank You "Batman"
My pleasure!
A track saw is appropriate for cutting large sheet of plywood.
@@theoremus yes it is!
How did you know from the Amazon listing that they were laser safe ? Just trying to learn how to find items that are safe
This is a great question. I apologize that I didn’t get back to you sooner. I have been hosting family this past week. The short answer is, I didn’t know if they would. I bought them and just tested out settings and figured out what worked best for my wattage laser. As long as you know what materials are not safe to laser, things like PVC or vinyl, you can stay away from those things. Otherwise, most things will laser and engrave, it’s just a matter of if they will look good or not. A lot of people use settings that are way too powerful for journals like this and I don’t believe they look good. It doesn’t take much to remove that top color and reveal the black beneath.
it's 94 € on french amazon. a bit expensive but seems very useful. great presentation thanks
Thanks for the info! Cheers!
Trying to wrap my head around the poly. So you apply it before you paint your letters right? Isn’t the paint sitting on the poly then and not on the wood? If that is the case, then I’m assuming you would need to add a coat or two of poly at the end to sandwich the paint between the two poly layers?
The paint adheres just fine to the poly and then yep if you want to seal with poly, you would then poly again over the entire sign after peeling off the masking. 💪🏼
Awesome, thanks for confirming! I’ll give it a shot soon. 😊

kreg tool!!
Some good tips, thanks for sharing.
Sure! Appreciate you watching!
Thanks!
Aw. You’re welcome!
A cheaper alternative is using DAP Plastic Wood(or any wood filler or a joint compound). Seal the wood first, then mix the amount you use with about 10-20% water, spread it on the wood with a plastic spreader, let it dry and then carve. Paint it, spraying is better than gobbs of paint and brushing, then sand. Works great, saves you a crap load of money.
BOSS! My husband & I just ordered a Onefinity machine. It hasn't arrived yet so I've been learning as much as I can about how to operate it. Other instructional videos have sounded like Greek to me. Yours is a God sent. You make it less intimidating. Thanks so much 😊
Aw. Thank you for telling me. I’m so glad you found it helpful! I’m long overdue for CNC videos!
Whoops!!!
Boss!!!
Harvey! 🤪
Suck brick kid! (If you know, you know) This might be from 1 and not 2 though.
Where did you get the audio?! LOVE violin!
Nice work!
Hittin it one more time did not work for Brittany and it didn't work for me. It took a sec to process this but I got a chuckle 😂
😂
I've got close to the same boot on my machine, works very well!
Beautiful work!

Just curious... as I am waiting for my Onefinity CNC to be delivered, at about the 10:50 mark it looks like there is some rust on some of the components of X axis carriage assembly... am I seeing that right? If so, was this received as a brand new machine?
Nope. Because I make videos for a living, onefinity sent an older refurbished machine to me to use. This was not a new machine.
@@OakHillMillworks Gottcha... thank you!
that sign in the bckground is really nice
Thanks! Lizzy from The House of Timber made it for me.
Ok Batman 🙂
Having understanding clients goes a long way. Thanks for sharing Christy!
Totally! Whew. Load off.
👌👌👍👍

Great video Christy! Yes, more on the laser would be awesome!
Thanks, Jason! I’ll try to come up with some more things that could be helpful. Kinda tough with a laser that not as many people have.
@@OakHillMillworks Maybe time for a Thunder Laser! 🤣
@@jasonhagenoh lawdy!
Great Job Christy!
Thanks, Alex! Little rusty but hey… had to pump out a quick video before YT took away my monetization status. True story.
@@OakHillMillworks lol! I just want to get to that point ;)
Thanks for sharing! Keep up the good work👊
Thanks, Andy. 😊
YES more! I have the same (almost) Epilog laser. I've got the 60watt. AWESOME work!
Ok ok sweet! I don’t know many with Epilog lasers so I have avoided doing Epilog content thinking it might not be helpful. I would love to get a newer bigger one!
It's so nice when you have understanding clients! Also, who wouldn't want to learn more about lasers?!?!?!
Pew pew! I wonder what I should talk about on the next one, esp if not many people have an Epilog?
I want to learn laser stuff! I'm using a little baby xTool D1, but it has paid for itself several times over and is more productive than my CNC. For my my sidehustle shop, it has been the MVP by far. So yeah, give me all that laser content!!!
Hope some of this was helpful! Sounds like you are rockin it already.
Cheeseburger!! LOL when I saw the dots I thought to get a pen and ruler out and start drawing lines. Keep up the great work! Your husband is a lucky guy for sure.
Haha! 🍔 Thanks for the support. That ruler work would have taken a little bit of time!! 😅
@@OakHillMillworks only a few minutes lol 😂.
They turned out great! Glad your client was understanding.
Thanks, Jenn! Yeah I was fortunate to get that response!
Love watching that machine do its thing!
It’s still fun for me 5 years later!
Commenting below that I want to see more! BACON!!!!
🤣🤣 Thanks, Dale! Here ya go buddy 🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓
@@OakHillMillworks well… not EXACTLY what I meant, but being one who has never been known to turn down bacon…
Great video, Christy! I just received an xTool P2 55W CO2 laser, and looking forward into getting to work with it!
Nice! Mine is 50 watt and at about 40% of its max power is where I live for these journals.
Listening to you talking to your customer on the phone tells me you have good business sense. Keep up the good work!
Thank you, Pop. ♥️
Helpful hint for saving time!
Sometimes using that strategy has cut engrave time in half! Pretty big deal.
#linedjournals4life
🤣 I wouldn’t know what to do with dotted.
“You crossed the line. You’re so far away from the line, the line is a dot to you” Who said it
Haha! I’m impressed! Joey!!
Do you think spray lacquer will seal as well as the water-based poly?
I do! I think that will work just as well. I have also used rattle can clear. Shellac works too. Anything to “clog the pores” that is clear.
Thanks Batman, for sharing your knowledge!!
Happy to help! Thank you so much for watching.
