Wondering how to help keep this video series rolling? Why not donate a dollar or two and I can afford to pay a camera guy and travel a bit visiting your local crag. I have a paypal donation button at www.mountainguide.com or as some people suggested here is a address that you can stuff a US dollar or Euro in and it will show up at my doorstep.

I cannot believe I am only now discovering this channel. Barter is hilarious!
skating here is my life dream :(
Loose the music.
Music ruins it

Think I’ll gift myself a trip here after graduation
Great stuff you just can't learn that kind of shit anywhere you know !!!
Great stuff I can't believe it's only got 384 views it's bullshit Thanks Joe makai
How do i get alerted for your next broadcast? Hope all is well. I would like your thoughts on the chariot belay, and setting up a rappel on a weighted rop, thanks.
What an amazing place to skate. We need something like that in Holland!!
Speaking of speedier mountaineering techniques, what's your opinion on couples you see on Class 1-4 scrambles or "climbs" using SRL's as hiking tethers? (e.g. Guardian 10900 Halo Web SRL 11ft.w/nylon webbing)?
What knot did you throw onto that CAM anchor? or did you just clip in?
Clove hitch
Thx for these videos! They were a great guide. Update July 2023 for future parties - the exit off the glacier coming down from Peyto (see video around 6:40) has changed a lot - you can no longer come down near the bottom as the glacier has melted, and the lake has become significantly larger. The exit is now higher up (a bit above the large crevasses you see in the video here), and you follow a set of cairns off towards your left (right on the photo) down a steep gully with a stream. Scramble down that to get down. We did it in dry conditions and it was fine, if it’s raining it would be quite sketchy and slippery.
I tie in with a bowline
Посмотрим на 2026 скоро.
Extremely underrated. Thank you for making these videos over the years.
I’m new to mountaineering, but why would I need to kick in steps as I hike? Isn’t that what crampons and snow shoes are for?
Would you stop dig out your crampons to cross 15 feet of soft snow? Your new it will all make sense at some point
Shame about the shaky camera after you go over the edge.
Quality demo, deserves more engagement in the comments=)
I'm curious about how this would work with multiple partners. Let's say you have a rope team of four on the glacier and transition to lower angle terrain with loose rocks. What's the best way to shorten the rope between each climber and not simply between the leader and second position? Would have folks untie (when it's safe), take in coils, and then retie their knots at shorter intervals or is there a better way to do it?
I wish to go there someday before i die.

Thanks" a Million on the axe setup info!
Merry Christmas guys
I skate on Erie Lake and edge of Ontario lake and lake Simone before each time for 60km
Isn’t this dangerous? I only think in what I’ve seen at movies: the ice breaks, the people fall down, the ice comes solid in a second and the person is still down.
Thanks for the videos Joe! Back when I was newbie around 2012 your videos helped me understan a ton of things. You rock! Greetings all the way from Monterrey México.
I am a bot
You got that backwards. No one would ever walk off when they could rappel.
Canada has a story any nation can be proud of. I say this as an American. Seems we share a similiar history of western expansion. Proud people, independent people, a hard, beautiful land grown by much hard work & the spirit of people too dam proud to quit.
To bad, we had to destroy so many nations to do it. We have little to be proud of.
Mike thoughts on dry climbing ? Bunch of bs I think

Super video!
excellent videos, much appreciated. love this format.
Talk about overcomplicating something. He knows but shouldnt teach
This is a great service they run here. About 5 years ago - I had skiied Louise once prior - I saw this service advertised. Went on a tour and I was blown away. Enjoyed it so much, and even though konw Louise pretty well now, I always ski with these guys. I'm even considering applying to be part of the team.
Yea, this is life changing. Thanks
I live a lot closer to Banff, so I hope to meet you some day.
Thanks for another edifying video! I really enjoy watching your content and the sense of humour
Amazing content ! Thank you Mike Barter ! I'm glued to the screen.
Always appreciate these tours
That satire at the end got me lmao
Thank you so much for very helping mucj video sir..even maybe this videp is already very quite old video.. Cheers from 🇮🇩☺️🤗
Is that some kind of special piss-based ice anchor? It's very yellow around there 😂
