"Farewell... This is the only world that your ancestors were able to leave you. Please... forgive us." This hits hard. Really hard. We can see how King Daphnes sees himself in Ganondorf, as a man who couldn't let go of his past glory, who couldn't forgive himself for his mistakes, and who ultimately lived bound to his kingdom in life and in death. His body language, the way he bows his head down... you can almost see the shame he feels, and can almost picture him silently crying as Hyrule, his kingdom and the only thing keeping him alive, drowns yet again in front of him. In the end, he accepts the flow of time, and understands that his time is past. He entrusts Link and Zelda with carrying the seeds of the future, knowing that the next great kingdom will not be *his* Hyrule, and dies in peace knowing that he can rest. Damn, this game is powerful.

Wind waker is the best game in the series change my mind, not only is this games the most mature in a way if you know what I mean but also has the best version of ganondorf and a king that all he wanted was to bring his kingdom back and one of the saddest cutscenes in the series with beautiful music😭😭❤️❤️

I liked most of Wind Waker but I wasn't really fond of this ending. Link made to look what he is, a plain little totally helpless Kid. I know he fought and is battle weary but at least show some Power like Tear's Link with his badass Master Sword that never loses durability. That is showing true Fight , fit to save a Princess! The styling is also exposed to the fore here and I have to say, King of Lions aside (that was Cool), the cartoony stuff can only take you so far in creating a truly Epic finale. Sorry if I don't do nostalgia either.

I love this version of Ganondorf, he wasn't a power-mad dictator that just wanted to destroy everybody else for the lawls. He was a leader his people were suffering From the lack of necessary resources to survive. And his only perceived choice was to conquer a nation with plenty. That doesn't excuse him for not negotiating with said country I'm sure Hyrule would have been glad to help. after all they are a pretty benevolent country In most depictions of it throughout the games. You can't forgive his crimes but at least it's a better understanding of his character and why He did what he did. I only wish that tears of the kingdoms Gannon didn't go back To just being the power-mad war conqueror hes depicted as in that game...

One interesting thing about this cutscene, Ganondorf did technically get what he wanted beyond just ruling over old sunken Hyrule. Unlike each game's Link and Zelda, Ganondorf isn't reincarnated for each new game. More often he's resurrected or pulled out of another dimension instead. Which is why he says "Let us put an end to that which binds us together!" at 1:33. He's sick of getting brought back from the dead, never really moving on, and still being beaten by the same two damn people every time... Except. Except that this Link, despite having the Triforce of Courage and all other classic Link traits, is NOT a reincarnation. The King of Red Lions says as much in your first conversation with Jabun: "The one I have brought with me has no connection to the legendary one. And yet I can sense great potential in the courage that lies within him..." Toon Link broke a goddesses-know-how-old cycle of reincarnation and defeat, an equally old curse, and possibly killed Ganondorf dead this time but I'm not sure. In the toon timeline, those bindings are crumbling at the bottom of the ocean. god i love zelda so much
