I would advise against associating with Monsieur Z given his propensity to perpetuate misinformation and dangerous ideologies (I am saying this as a former subscriber of his before he showed his true colors)

Agrippa didnt defeat Mark Antony. Mark Antony defeated himself...Anthony fought many more campaigns then Agrippa ever did..with caeser etc..and let's not forget without Mark Antony octavian and Agrippa would have been defeated and killed by the liberators..ironic ..before cleopatra..Anthony was loved and respected by the legions and peoples of Rome..the rest is history..a soldier's general. Caeser called him Romes greatest warrior And knew he could rely on him battles 100pc...I think both Agrippa and octavian were still boys ...

In my opinion, the long reigns of the seven kings may be representative of seven dynasties, the apparent instability of which could even explain why the Romans decided a new system of government would be a good idea when most other civilizations retained monarchies for their entire histories.

It's funny that you used the Cicero denouncing Catiline painting as a background. During this event, wich takes place inside the Jupiter's temple that dates back to monarchy era, Cicero was referencing early Roman history during this famous speech. And you just happen to talk about all these references origins ! Was it done on purpose ?

I seem to recall Romulus being the one to expand the Senate to 200, as a means of integrating the Sabines after he Watership Down'd their women. Tarquinius Priscus then raised it to 300 to consolidate his power. There's some scholastic speculation that 509BC was decided as the birth year of the Republic in later times when Rome was in regular contact with Greece, as this would mean they beat Athens to having a democratic form of Government, Athens' first fully democratic form emerging in 508BC.
@spectrum11402 күн бұрын
I'm pretty sure the expansion from 100 to 200 was Tarquinius Priscus, and 200 to 300 was with the formation of the Early Republic. I'm re-reading Livy right now and he does not speak of any Senatorial expansion in the times of Romulus. As for the other 2... I haven't gotten to those parts yet. Regarding the date of the foundation, yes, and I'm very much on the side which speculates the Romans altered the foundation date of the Republic as a way to beat the Athenians.
