As a professional artist I have to disagree with you. I believe that you need six colors you need the cool primaries and the warm primaries and it honestly would not hurt to add a burnt sienna that is made with PBR 7 as well as pbk 11 which is Lunar black in Daniel Smith. And as a suggestion I would avoid all cadmium paints for mixing because they are not transparent

Hi dear! Yup, 6 primaries are good to start! This video is meant for those who don't know where to start, want to start, and need some recommendations on colors that behave like good boys 😂! Limiting your palette is a good way to begin and experiment, removing the stress of having other colors in the way and not knowing how to use them! Thank you for your comment as you inspired me to make another video about the topic! ❤

Student grade paint is more expensive in the long run. With the fillers added, your paint won't go as far. Really, there are only 3 primary colors. The others like cadmium red, ultramarine etc are not primary. They are yellow, cyan, and magenta. Others may be preference and close in color that'll work but they aren't primaries.
@_shuika_7 күн бұрын

A bit late, but you were wondering about the texture of that indigo. It looks like it contains PBk11, which is a highly granulating black pigment, so you're seeing that black working its granulating magic! Also, I'm glad you got to experience Roman Szmal paints. They have become one of my favorites! The Indanthrene Grey you got is interesting, because PB60 is usually a rich, denim blue, so that might have to be added to my wish list.
@_shuika_17 күн бұрын
Ohhhhh so it's that specific pigment the source of all that granulation!! Nice to know ! Roman has easily become the target of my interest ahahah I'm probably going to make a video about a few colors good for color mixing and include the red and the phralo blue in it, they're amazing !! And that indigo YES I adored it, so rich !!! ❤ Glad you found some inspiration!!❤

Seeing a lot of very lovely choices for the reds in this palette! I do wonder, how important is lightfastness to you in your work? I know that you mainly create art for social media, but has fading ever been a concern outside of that? I've grown a bit picky with my own selection because I do display my work in the open, so for me is just peace of mind. But I have to admit, having the freedom of choosing beautiful colors like Opera pink makes me kind of jealous hahaha. I know the audience from instagram doesn't always translate to YT, but I do hope that doesn't discourage you and you keep making videos like these <3

Hi! Thank you for your comment and support! And yeah; gotcha on the lightfastness ! I try to be mindful of the colors I use, but I can't refrain from using colors I really really like, as it would mean cut off an arm to my creative expression! I keep my pieces collected in folders, so it doesn't concern me that much, especially because I scan them so I can have a preserved version of it! And thank you for your kind words ❤️
