We are a young family trying to learn all we can about growing and raising our own food, as well as canning to become more self sufficient. I purchased the land I was raised on (a little over 5 acres) with the house, a decent sized pole barn and small out building being all the infrastructure built. As well as all of it being wooded land. With that being said there is a lot to do and we are very excited in our journey. We will be posting a lot of videos on our building projects and everything we have going on here on the homestead and invite you to join us along the way!
If you would like to give your support we would greatly appreciate a follow!
Thanks! The Lewis Family

Welcome back to the worm farming community! Steve from the channel Our Sustainable Journey uses those repurposed containers for worms too. I have four inground worm buckets as well as totes. New subscriber! ~ Sandra
Thanks you! I like them!
So cute. The babies look awesome.
I think so too!
Congrats on Spot's second litter! That's a great litter size. Hope all goes well!
Yeah I miss counted she had 9 again which is still great!

Thanks for watching
The scars on your hand literally sums up the life of a rabbit breeder 😁💪🏻
Yes 😂😂 after I’m done I’ll be like dang didn’t even get scratched then an hour later my daughter will be like how’d you get a boo boo daddy and I look down to my hands and arms covered. Like how 😂😂
Nice video. We have a similar creek crossing. Our creek goes from bone dry to 8 feet deep during heavy rains. I widened the channel as you have to slow the current down. Having said that with the amount of water born debris evident in your video it will continue to work its magic and want to clog things up. Additionally depending on the velocity of the current it may tend to scour the creek bed along with the stone you put in. It looks like you have plenty of large stones there. You may consider having your contractor pull the 1-1/2 inch back and then dump a quantity of cement block size rocks in the creek bed and along the sides as riprap. He can imbed the larger rocks in the creek bed and then use the smaller stuff to fill in the voids to smooth out the crossing. Its how the romans did it.
That’s how ours is we are lucky if there’s even water 300 days out of the year. We might eventually put a couple 12 inch pipes and concrete over that but for now we are gonna keep it how it is. It has done great with almost an inch of rain. Very little water coming through and no rock has washed and my little neon still makes it haha
Great video definitely a good idea
Thank you 😊
Great 👍
Thanks for the visit
Just a thought, keep that spotted buck as another breeder
Yeah I have thought about it. My backup buck isn’t weighing in good at all. The only problem with that is I plan on keeping a doe out of this liter and I don’t ever want to worry about breeding litter mates.
Put a top on them
I tried taking them out and so far it is going much better!
@@elderacres what ever been doing this shit for 60 years but carry on

Thank you!
Nice set up 👍
Thanks 👍
Those hutches look good!
Thank you!
Those bowl holders are brilliant, might have to make a couple of those myself. Great video!
Thank you! They have been working fantastic! I have had no tipped bowls with my doe and kits. I haven’t been able to make one yet for my buck, I need to tho because he needs one bad. But overall they work really well and a great solution because I love using the metal bowls!
@@elderacres Glad to hear! I love using bowls for moms & kits as well, but my rabbits are chronic bowl flippers. Seems like this those holders fix the issue. Looking forward to seeing Spot's litter, I have a Californian doe due around the same time. You have a great rabbitry!
I’d definitely give it a shot super easy to make! Hope you have a successful litter! Thank you for the kind words!
I have a blast raising meat rabbits I've been raising them for about 6 years.. keep up the good work 👍
I’m finally enjoying it as well I’ve had ups and downs over the last couple of years but daily chores with the rabbits are so fun and my daughter loves them! Now just to teach her as she grows up to appreciate them at the dinner table as well!
Thanks I like seeing what your up too I'm 80 and used to raise rabbits for meat raise new zelin
Thank you for watching! That is awesome! I’ve thought about New Zealand’s, it would open up more opportunities with 4H!

😢trees are so expensive now!
They are I want so many more but starting with this then will propagate on my own!
@@elderacres i grew pomegranate and mullberry from seeds too. Only 1' tall this 1st year.
@@elderacres where's your land? I'm in central Texas.
We are in southeastern Indiana
did they get pecked on?
I planted a bunch of peach trees i grew from seeds. In central Texas on my channel. I'm making my cliche into soil from chips and leaves. It's amazing! It feeds chickens too!
That’s awesome! I can’t wait to grow this space out. I used to free range but hawks and fox and bobcats have gotten so bad I can’t right now. As soon as the pasture is up tho I plan to again.
@@elderacres i fenced mine in with free fencing from various sources. Some from house construction stucco backing...all waste. I'll do a video. My area is huge now.
Awesome! I’ll check it out when you do!
That's a great set up. 🐰🐇🐰
Thank you! 🤗
I like it
Thank you
Good deal man
It has worked out nice
Keep on keeping on 👍
Alright alright alright 👍🏼
Cool little set up 👍
Thanks 👍
Sounds good what are you doing to do about all the parasite they are going to get from being on the ground
Most of the time parasites from being on the ground come from getting into contact with a wild rabbit through the wire. My rabbit run is inside of my chicken run to that is impossible. After that it is just a matter of keeping things clean and monitoring your rabbits!
@elderacres will I bring raise rabbits for over 60 years and are going to get them get off the ground
They are your rabbits but you will have a bunch of sick rabbits
Thanks
Welcome
