The influx of pics, interviews, posts, tweets and videos was OVERWHELMING and very WELCOME as I was trying to keep up with my emotions😭♥️ I don’t like the “friend”narrative PR strategy AT ALL but was giggling so bad at the sexy pictures and Norman’s ill attempts to contain Melissa’s comments about the happy ending 🤣🤣🤣 They’re really trying to be there for us and I commend them for that. The trailer was perfect up until the “talking about taking you back to America” part. They keep insisting on that, against our knowledge of Daryl’s character and our best efforts to communicate that this line of thinking ISN’T DOING IT FOR THE SHOW’S CORE AUDIENCE, which I’m a part of. But, I learned the lesson from the previous teaser (and the only reason that I didn’t tweet you afterwards for therapy and counseling 😂): Trailers are misleading, won’t reflect what will really happen and they like to torture us and use that sick, manipulative technique to keep us hooked. I don’t like to have my emotions manipulated. Certainly, there are better ways to keep me hooked as a spin off fan. Like progression in Daryl and Carol’s romantic evolution, for example. But, their playfulness and giddiness (Norman and Melissa’s) hooked me already. I don’t know if TPTB think that once they become canon it’s over, they’re done. I would say, on the contrary. Things are gonna be way better and there’ll be lots and lots more to explore. I’m with Laura, their deep emotional scenes are the ones that stick the most with me. And those scenes are the reason that I don’t get tired of watching them and being their fan, even after all these years! GREAT JOB, DEAR SHALAKA!!!! 👏🏻😘💯

Loved your theories!!! They were perfect to incorporate Carol into the arc. Carol meeting Leah on her own and figuring out who she was first, gaining her trust and building rapport with her before going after the missing group and Daryl. YES to Carol finding out that she was Leah because of Leah telling Carol that it was her cabin. And YES to Leah seeing the knife early on and figuring, either Carol’s connection with Daryl OR that Carol DID SOMETHING TO HIM and stole the knife from him… That would immediately put Leah on alert and position them as antagonists. But, like Shalaka said, to stall that discovery until Carol would gain her trust and get to know her better first. YES to some sort of camaraderie between them! Carol studying her nemesis without even seeing their similarities, only the differences, looking for whatever it was that Daryl saw in her, without clearly seeing that he was looking for someone like Carol. SUPER INTERESTING PLOT!! Lydia looking for the group with Carol would’ve been perfect with the whole walker horde strategy!! Teaching Carol how to herd walkers and use the mask. Pure GOLD!! I share the other listener’s view and commented there about Lauren Conrad’s return and Season 11 fight between Maggie and Leah. THANK YOU FOR ANOTHER FABULOUS PODCAST EPISODE, ladies 😘

Also, according to Norman and Angela Kang, the original plan was to send Carol and Daryl off on their road trip spinoff while the main show continued, with the two of them coming back to the main show from time to time before heading out again. So my theory is that Caryl would have left at the end of the Reaper arc (either in the mid-season finale or in the season finale, if they chose to extend it through all 16 episodes). Then the Commonwealth story would have taken over in Season 12 and unfolded largely without Caryl, leaving Maggie, Negan and some of the other characters to take the lead. But then AMC decided to cancel the main show and go with spinoffs instead, forcing the writers to scramble to rework everything and wrap up what they had intended to be a continuing story that played out over a much longer period of time. Hello, more time jumps! But I guess we'll never know for sure what was originally planned unless someone decides to talk one of these days. 🤷🏻‍♀ As usual ladies, another brilliant podcast!

I could be way off base, but looking at the setup in Season 10 and how things played out in Season 11, it always felt to me like when Lauren Cohan signed with the show again, they didn't have a Season 11 storyline for her. So they pulled Carol out of the Reaper arc, made a few tweaks, and shoved Maggie into it. Hence why Carol was largely sidelined for most of the arc and why Maggie didn't really seem to fit. To me, that made the whole arc unsatisfying, emotionally and narratively, and I think that's a large part of the reason the Reaper arc was mostly a bust with the audience. (I actually wrote this before you discussed this at the end, so I'm actually echoing a lot of what you said. lol!) Anyway, yeah, I think that's exactly why it felt like it should have been Carol in that scene. Because it should have been, and perhaps was, when the story arc was originally laid out. At that point, they didn't know the show would end with Season 11, so they needed to re-establish Maggie before they sent Caryl off on their road trip. But then everything changed. 😐

  • @user-zk9zb7rx6s
    @user-zk9zb7rx6s7 күн бұрын

I completely agree with you… That’s exactly what I thought and how I felt when I watched it. It didn’t fit. And I get that Lauren was coming back and they needed to put her in the forefront but the Reaper arc would’ve made much more sense with Carol included. But maybe they thought it would’ve overshadowed Lauren’s return. Leaving the Reaper arc with Daryl and Carol at the forefront would’ve been gold, and then having some sort of a different psych plot, their own storyline between Maggie and Negan. Which is what they’re doing with Dead City now. They had to rush meaningful interactions between Daryl and Carol on 11B. Just not enough time. They had to insert Carol in the whole “Jude got shot” storyline to give her something to do in the midst of like 20 other character development’s storylines. Then, Maggie and Negan were pushed to the side to focus on Daryl and Carol. Felt incomplete. Too much going on. The whole Sebastian, Pamela and Lance situation took a lot of space and also the Mercer, Max, and Eugene’s trial story. Then, the whole news reporter stuff and Rosita looking for the baby, Luke dying… I mean, just too much. But, to be fair they didn’t know that this was the last season. Bottom line, that last confrontation with Leah belonged to Carol and Daryl would’ve been on the spot. It would’ve been the perfect ground to position Caryl at the end of the story. I guess they were thinking on the spin off. How the spin off would give Daryl and Carol more time together. So, they gave precedence to the other characters. But, they shifted and ended all focusing on Daryl and Carol and positioning them for the spin off.

Out of all the spot-on insights the two of you offered here, I especially love the tapestry comparison when looking at their relationship. It's a beautiful and perfect way to describe it. I wish the viewers who didn't find value in this episode could have watched it through your eyes. When you can appreciate it for what it is, it's a highly rewarding character/relationship study.

Whenever I need inspiration in the Caryl department, I listen to another episode of your podcast. Thanks a lot for the millionth time for your insights and observations. I agree, this episode is by far one of the most underrated (no plot development was one of the complaints) but was precious for me. I love how they were coping in thier own ways. When I saw that scarf that Carol had found, it threw me back to Season 3 when Daryl found Carol's scarf while looking for her in the Prison. Could there be a reference? Who knows. Only this time it was like Carol had to find a way and save herself and somehow that was through mending this scarf. Somehow it all came together for me like that.

I LOVE DIVERGED AND THE FACT THAT IT WAS A #Caryl FOCUSED EPISODE!! After their fight the ENTIRE UNIVERSE WAS WRONG. I was feeling sooooo horribly uncomfortable. This was BAD in a whole new level. I received some consolation when, after a little hesitation, Dog went home with Carol! 😭 In a way, it gave Daryl a little reassurance because she wouldn’t leave while being in charge of Dog. I think that’s another reason why Dog went with her, he KNEW his Mom might want to go away but he wouldn’t let her 😭 But, Daryl was pissed. A man’s best friend? Dog was a woman’s best friend 💔 Daryl and Carol don’t have luck without each other, everything was so off! They tried to give us little joy nuggets throughout the episode like “Hmm, it smells like Daryl in here” I DIED A SLOW DEATH 😍 Girl, even his SCENT is intimately known to her…🔥😮‍💨 I’VE ALWAYS LOVED JERRY and it was gold to position him as the friend that Carol needs in this moment. He KNEW right away that something was wrong with her and that she came back without Daryl 🥺But, she tried to brush it off, to mask it. She’s sooooo resourceful!! It’s the one thing that stood out, how she built a rat trap from scratch, scavenged food, how she cooks a meal out of practically nothing, fixes a solar panel, plasters drywall… I’M A PROUD CAROL FAN!! But the broken bike, the spilled soup, the hole in the wall… It broke me to see them like that, struggling without each other 😭 Another joy nugget was spotting the pirate’s book!! 😍 Our Daryl secretly sings “Yo-hoo, yo-hoo a pirate’s 🏴‍☠️ life for me!” 🎶 Daryl NEEDS Carol by his side. They’re connected and operate as one, indeed! And when you compared their life together with a tightly interlinked tapestry… 😭😭😭!! Breaking them apart doesn’t work!! IT ONLY WORKS WHEN BOTH OF THEM ARE WEAVING THEIR LIFE TOGETHER🔥🔥🔥💯 Your explanation of grief when loosing someone important resonated so much with me… When I lost Mom, a lot of my energy funneled into that grief to be able to hold it together. It certainly disregulated me, it unleashed so many emotions that I usually keep in check, exactly as you said. It was a very dark time. And Carol’s bedtime scene with Dog was simply perfect in the most beautiful way. For her to be able to express to Dog that she missed Daryl was huge. Building walls around us don’t help to cope. Walls need to come down and we need to face our pain to start the healing process, like you shared. So, they might be fictional characters but they shed light and their healing journey helps all of us quite a lot ❤️‍🔥💯

Soooo many wonderful, insightful thoughts. I especially love the way you point out the difference between what Daryl heard and what Carol actually meant when she told him he should have let her stay on the boat. They were coming at it from two heartbreakingly different angles. And unless AMC FINALLY gives us the conclusion in the spinoff that we never got in the show (and I doubt they will), I will forever regret what could have...and should have...been a deeply emotional and rewarding story for them. As it was, we were left with a half-baked afterthought where all the important conversations apparently took place offscreen. And, yes, I would KILL for a "What If" discussion. Okay, maybe not kill. But seriously maim, perhaps? lol

Hi! I apologize in advance for any possible mistakes. My English is not very good. I'm working on it. First, what I would like to mention from the podcast. I don't think Daryl expected to see Carol outside the door. He thought that the walker had eaten her. I think he noticed that there was a walker in the punishment cell when he passed through there with Carl. And now that he's here alone with his feelings, he just wants to kill all the walkers. He was surprised when he saw Carol. And now for the case. Thanks! Your podcast is great! This is the first video I've watched so far. I'm going to see everything. I doubt that in the second season of the spin-off we will be given a romantic relationship. This is impractical from a franchise point of view. They have been delaying this for so many years for a reason. All these years, they've been throwing bones at us, but they haven't given us anything tangible. We only get snippets from interviews where one of the main actors talks about their connection. Now, if you don't take into account the production, but look at the characters. I am sure that this is the pure love. But they've been best friends for too long. After such a path, it is already difficult for them to cross this threshold. I think they could have done it. It would take some effort. But now they don't look at each other as a love interest. Unfortunately.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but there are delayed scenes from the show that would really offer some clarity to the characters' actions. At the end of one point the group goes back to the Vatos who have all been killed and there, one of the last things Daryl said to Carol was to "shut up Sofia or he would do it." Or words to that effect. So, I thought there was a sense of guilt in his actions to find Sofia. And one of the reasons he was staring at them when he road passed them in S2 E1. Just mho. Loving this podcast! Can't wait to catch up.

@@icooley7391 We mentioned it in episode #9. Daryl says "shut her up or I will" to Carol. It contributes to his guilt in the beginning but later he forms a bond with Carol and realizes he wants to save her daughter for her. ❤️ Thanks for listening.

YES!!! I WANT A “WHAT IF”Reaper arc discussion. And one of the things that stood the most in this episode for me was that Carol KNEW about Leah when she finds the note and questions Daryl!!! She immediately connected the dots and knew that Daryl wrote a note for that woman. She didn’t even mention Leah’s name. She sounded wounded and jealous and his reply was the typical reply from a lover that’s been caught cheating. I ALMOST DIED. When did they have that conversation? What did he tell her about Leah and Dog? In what tone? Or did he mention it to her as an out of the blue meaningless fling? Did he mention the fling at all, or did he just say that a friendly woman left him Dog? Did he even tell her the woman’s name? Because, Carol sounds hurt when she found the note and kind of realizes that maybe it wasn’t that meaningless to him as he told her (of course it wasn’t that big of a deal to him in the big scheme of things, but I mean in Carol’s mind now it looks differently and bigger than what he told her)… Gosh… They deprived us of that conversation. I can imagine Carol visiting him at the campsite and seeing Dog. Where did the dog come from? I can just imagine Daryl’s muffled and vague response, like it wasn’t important. AAAAARRRGGGHHH!! I want TO KNOW WHAT DID HE TELL HER. Not much, I think, judging by her reaction when she found the note 😢💔

I’m the weirdo who has always liked Eugene and I loved his conversation with Carol ❤️ I wasn’t surprised when it was revealed that it was Carol who released Negan with the commission of hunting down Alpha. Carol is the Mastermind, the one and only. NO ONE ELSE has such a strategic mind. She IS fk badass! All of Daryl and Negan’s interactions had me giggling. Negan might be the villain but he’s certainly intuitive and he caught on with Daryl and Carol’s status immediately! It’s so comedic how much he knows and how clearly he sees Carol being Daryl’s girlfriend 😂 Daryl and Carol might be clueless when it comes to their feelings, but not Negan. He sees them as clear as day, just like us. When he let Daryl in on the little secret, he was understandably upset and worried about Cookie and the possibility of her not coming back. And THIS IS THE EPISODE when we get to know what’s inside Carol’s head and what is it that she wants: Daryl. The thought of loosing Daryl gave her the drive, the will to live, to fight and get out of that horrible ambush that her mind constructed and his visible relief when she came back was palpable 😭😭😭 He opened that gate and my heart went to him when he smiled a little, he really restrained himself not to irritate her with questions or arguments… Not to toss himself at her and hug her… She looked so tired and covered with battle scars! 😭😭😭 I’m grateful for Lydia and the way that she saved both Daryl and Carol! We owe her sooooooo much!! 🥹I really thought that Carol was going to jump off that cliff together with the horde, and my entire neighborhood heard my screams and NOOOOOOOOO’s. My husband had to appease me and make me open my eyes to see Lydia grabbing her by the hand!!!!!!! Two hands offered to save her life, Daryl’s at the cave and Lydia’s at the cliff. And when they came back, Daryl letting her know that she still had him was EVERYTHING😭😭😭 Yes, I could see his disillusionment when he sensed her shift about running away to New Mexico 🥺🥺🥺 And when the series ended and she didn’t go with him I was so sour, even with the I love you’s that they exchanged! BUT NOW, HOPE IS RENEWED. WE STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO LIVE WITH THEM… New Mexico is STILL OUT THERE!!! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥💯

The TBOC Tribeca Premiere was magnificent, thanks to Norman and Melissa!🤩🔥 I have to say that the entire event was incredibly gratifying for us Carylers, and we’ve been gushing about the gorgeous pictures EVER SINCE! Hahaha Shalaka, when you saw them both color coordinated wearing black you thought of our dear artistic, gothic chic and I was thinking when Carol told Daryl that his color was black, definitely black 😂 I’m so happy that #Caryl is being acknowledged as their ship! And I would say not if, BUT WHEN we actually get a canon scene with Daryl and Carol I’ll be over the moon ecstatic!!!!! I’ve been waiting for so many years, together with our fellow Carylers. I love Melissa, I love Carol, and listening to her talking about Carol was EVERYTHING. Melissa is tremendously deserving of all the recognition, euphoria, and happy buzz that her and Norman’s appearances together elicit. It’s what we wanted, happening and last, this so long awaited show that they dreamt of crafting together! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HER DIRECTING AN EPISODE IN THE FUTURE. Melissa has so much to offer, so much to explore yet!! AND YES, LAURA ANOTHER POSTER, PLEASE!! Now, “Morning Star” is one of my most beloved episodes. It’s very significant to me that the place Carol seeks for comfort and solace is Daryl’s old campsite. The idyllic family time with Henry, Daryl-Henry bonding time, the haircut, the morning after coffee… All happened there 😢 It’s so obvious that she’s craving closeness with Daryl now that the thought of loosing him hunts her 😭 When she looked up, I thought that Daryl was coming and it was incredibly awkward to see Ezekiel instead. I didn’t understand how he knew about that location and frankly, it felt like an invasion of her sacred place 😅 But, he acknowledged why he knew she was there. PEOPLE, IT CAN’T BE MORE OBVIOUS. The discussion that he and Daryl had at Hilltop only confirmed Daryl’s position as his competitor for Carol’s love. That’s how explicit it was. We’re not reading into it, it’s at plain sight for all to see. I mean, how MORE OBVIOUS CAN THEY BE?! You guys were mentioning that Carol can distance herself from everyone, except for Daryl… She can’t live with the idea of him hating her or the idea of loosing him!!! His love means too much for her… But, him saying “I’m never going to hate you” with such confidence, so unequivocally, was the clearest declaration of love and commitment, the purest words coming out of his mouth, declaring his covenant to her, reassuring her of his deepest feelings… Canon has to happen, there’s no other conclusion for them 🔥🔥🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥💯

Once again, you moved me to tears and crafted an unforgettable podcast episode that we’ll cherish and remember FOREVER!! ❤❤❤ It was the right amount of much needed “mushy”. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAREST MELISSA MCBRIDE. YOU ARE INCREDIBLY LOVED!!🥰 Now, the discussion. First, THIS: “I’m the ONE you tell, ME!” Please, KILL ME NOW. I almost had a heart attack the first time I watched Daryl saying that line to Carol and not only that, THE INTENSITY!! Please, KILL ME NOW. Daryl IS Carol’s person, she just NEEDS to see it. She doesn’t know how, she doesn’t know how to put herself first😢 Their embrace on this scene is my favorite #Caryl embrace… She looks so safe and comforted in his arms, it’s like this zombie world doesn’t exist, just the two of them. And Carol is in the safety and comfort of that embrace. A still moment to calm her racing thoughts, to calm her inconsolable rage, to bring a little respite to her soul. Yes, my favorite #Caryl embrace… He looks at her so intently, trying to reach her where she’s at! Daryl is so secure, so wonderfully in the moment for her, THIS IS DARYL. The Daryl that I love, the Daryl that Carol deserves, and that declaration, that promise was said with all the weight and certainty of a man who knows exactly what he means, what he’s saying. Cero ambiguity: WE HAVE A FUTURE. I totally believed him, I totally believe in THIS Daryl. The moment wasn’t THE MOMENT for a kiss and I agree when you say: “This is him consciously choosing that the moment when they take the next step needs to be an eyes wide open, walking into this TOGETHER kind of moment!❤ In “Squeeze” IT BLEW ME AWAY when Daryl revealed that Carol is claustrophobic!!! I mean, they have A TON OF HISTORY TOGETHER, and the scene served as a reminder of that. It was EVERYTHING. It was extremely well done. It screams of a writer who did the homework. With #Caryl we need writers and a showrunner who do their homework, who know them as well as we do, AS WELL AS THEIR FANDOM DOES. We have dissected and discussed every single #Caryl detail, we have followed them faithfully throughout the years. You will NOT convince us or engage us with superficial writing that doesn’t pertain specifically to Daryl and Carol. We know them too well, you can’t bs us. It’s NOT that easy. We are NOT that easy. I’m deviating from the episode, but I need to say this. I remember my excitement when watching Daryl Dixon Season One, but getting increasingly wary as the series progressed. Who’s this new “reboot” Daryl deviating from who we KNOW HIM TO BE? The Daryl who knows where his home is and WHO ARE HIS FAMILY AND THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN HIS FAMILY. I have very high hopes for The Book of Carol. Season 10 raised the bar very high for our Daryl and I want him back and improved. And yes, I want that damn kiss while we are at it! 😂 Repeat with me: MAKE CARYL CANON, CAROL IS DARYL’S HOME, DARYL IS CAROL’S HOME AND #Caryl IS ENDGAME. Love you both, Laura and Shalaka. This is the most amazing podcast and the highlight of my week!!😘💯

Delicious discussion!!! That flower on the tray was EVERYTHING. I love a man who brings a woman flowers and you are right: Daryl served his heart on a platter! 😍 If Carol had opened that door… I imaging him bringing her tray inside, sitting in silence while she was eating, (if she wanted to eat) and sharing her space like he did inside the RV after they lost Sophia. He knows her intimately. He knows how to share her grief, how to be present without being intrusive and accompany her when she’s in pain. Their relationship is more mature now and maybe a conversation would’ve happened. I can only imagine his frustration: Wanting to be there for her and her keeping the door shut. But like you said, she wasn’t ready to be found yet. And I love Daryl in this moment because he gives her space and time, but still makes his presence known to her in his “I’m right here for you when you need me, no pressure, I’ll wait until you’re ready” way. He stays close and doesn’t leave her, supporting her as best as he can and as much as she will allow him to. “Bonds” is an amazing episode. That opening… The chiaroscuro (claroscuro for us in Spanish) was created to showcase Melissa’s beauty for real! Carol is even beautiful first thing in the morning and that little peek into her space made us feel closer to her, indeed. (I wear socks in bed too because my toes are always cold 😂) I love Carol. And I love how not a single detail concerning Carol escapes Daryl’s attention. She can stealthily go out or camouflage her intentions to others, but Daryl’s watching her every move. He drops everything and follows her without a moment’s hesitation. It’s his priority, period. And another amazing Caryl day happened. Some of our most cherished moments: “Mr. Crossbow”, double capper, “it’s not like that AT ALL”, Daryl giving Carol THE LOOK that melted an entire fandom and provoked a collective SCREAM!! CAROL, PAY ATTENTION TO THIS MAN, PLEASE!!!! We’re as desperate and exasperated as Daryl and we want to shake her out of her tunnel vision and make her SEE. But, she’s consumed by uncontrollable rage and not able to grasp what’s right in front of her in this moment, and we understand. There’s too much pain and fury inside of her. It’s not the time for them, yet. (They have to leave something for the spin off, people!) 😆 Then… DOG 🥰 I wanted to be included in their conversation about Leah. Like so many other conversations that they robbed from us 😭 To see his facial expressions when he was telling Carol, her reaction and gestures. Arrrrgh!! I feel robbed of a pivotal moment there. Moving on to the moment when you were saying that even though it has been so long, when canon finally happens between them, it will be so significant and bring so much hope for anyone who might be worried thinking that they’re behind in life or they’ve taken too long to do something. It will show that it’s never too late to find happiness. Coincidentally, Norman was saying something along those lines on a recent interview in Japan: Daryl still has room to grow in “matters of the heart” because he feels like “he’s missed that window” to allow people in. When THE right moment comes… When they BOTH realize that they are meant for each other… When they understand that they HAVEN’T missed that window… OMG, Laura and Shalaka!!! OMG!!! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥💯💯💯

Amén to NO MORE SNOW UNTIL NEXT WINTER!!!! 🥶 Carol had to go through the darkness to get to the light. And Daryl has been the one to consistently help her face her demons and help pull her back. It was a total treat to witness the soap opera! As a Caryl fan I live for those moments. The scene between Daryl and Zeke was a validation of everything that we knew already. I felt for Zeke but I have to admit that it was very satisfying to see Daryl holding his ground for Carol’s sake and to see Carol choosing for herself who she really wanted to be. Fairytales are nice for some time, but just like illusions, they’re dangerous because they have no flaws. That’s not reality and that certainly isn’t who Carol is. I’m glad that she was able to embrace her reality even in the midst of such a life-altering loss. With Daryl’s help. It was such a contrast between him and Zeke, the way they handled the situation and how Daryl gave Carol priority. Carol is the most remarkable woman and that level of resilience is more than incredible. I can’t believe how some accuse her of “killing children” or not being nurturing and loving. Like it was on purpose and she had anything to do with ANY of that! It completely and utterly demonstrates how they don’t know her AT ALL. The level of sorrow she has endured and how she has been able to face the insurmountable weigh of massive loss, take it all in, learn, adapt, stay true, and keep loving, protecting and nurturing has been unparalleled. They all have overcome so much! But to me, Carol will always be at the top of the mountain.

Hello and thank you for the new episode, your podcast is very much insightful for me, as always. And sorry for my nearly stream of consciousness comments, I just cannot hold back))) One of the most heartbreaking moments of the pikes scene was Daryl saying over and over "Just look at me" while holding Carol close. This is so intimate and touching, and, again, heartbreaking. He can only hope desperately that this would somehow postpone her pain and bring a brief moment of relief, at least. As a Caryl lover, I must agree that The Storm episode is a real treat, despite the tragic circumstances. I cannot symphasize with Ezekiel, though. I just don't see them together, there's not so much to keep them together. It's like their mindful decision which is pale in comparison to that natural gravity that draws together Carol and Daryl. And I believe the main difference between Daryl and Ezekiel is that the latter sees only good in Carol and is completely oblivious of her dark side, maybe even by his own choice. While Daryl sees her through and through and stays by her side anyway. Eizekel is all about idealizing Carol. He loves an ideal version of her and this is a personal trigger for me 'cause it makes you live to one's expectations or brings the ultimate disappointment if you don't. With Carol's dark side in mind and in anticipation of s10 episode of the podcast, do you think that Carol could be one pace away from being a perfect villain in the TWD universe if the events took some alternative course? Her s10 crusade against Alpha reveals once again how ruthless she is.

Apart from the Caryl part, which was very touching and heartbreaking and so well-explored in the episodes of the podcast dedicated to s3, that moment between Daryl and Judith was very endearing for me. It always fascinated me how well Daryl interacted with all the kids throughout the show. The storylines between him and Judith, Carl, Henry, Lydia, even Laurent highlighted his character in such a great way. I believe that a person's true nature is revealed through interations with kids and animals. This works for Daryl as well keeping in mind the way he treats Dog. Thank you, I'm so glad that I've found your podcast and looking forward for the coming episodes (especially, on s10 'cause I'm a fan)

I was going to watch the previous episodes of your podcast when a fresh one just popped up in front of me😊 I will eventually listen to all of them but just couldn't miss this one, especially after the cliffhanger of Part 1. For some reason, this one turned out so intense in terms of thoughts and emotions that I had to stop somewhere in the middle to process the information. It was overwhelming but in a good way. I do love seeing my favorite characters in darker places because, as cruel as it might sound, happiness is a one-sided approach when it comes to character development and definition. Wellbeing is not able to highlight the true nature of a person in the way such challenges do, if it makes sense. For me Daryl and Carol are very different in their grief and darkness. I won't explore the Carol's part in anticipation of the episode of your podcast dedicated to season 10. But Daryl is very secluded and withdrawn into his own shell. And I love how Carol alone is able to lure him out. Thank you for your wonderful exploration of the characters and events, and every little detail that make the whole picture a thousand times more delicate and rich at the same time.

This is just perfect, thank you! ❤ I've been looking for something like that for ages and I love the way you addressed every tiny detail and aspect of their relationship. My heart aches for these two and I cannot wait for s2 of the TWD Daryl Dixon series and the reunion. However, I still have a feeling that it won't be easy. There's always certain angst intristic to their relationship.

Missed you during the hiatus, but glad that you took a break! ❤ First of, that kiss at the museum threw me off, I NEVER EXPECTED IT and it left me with an uncomfortable and weird sensation. Not because I’m 💯 a Caryler, to be honest. It felt forced to me to introduce us as an audience to this new twist in the relationship that didn’t feel like a romance at all to me. Then, SAUDADE… THAT’S THE MOMENT I WAS WAITING FOR DARYL TO SAY SOMETHING, because HE REALLY SHOWED HIS JEALOUSY AND HOW BAFFLED HE WAS BY ZEKE’S PROPOSAL!!!!!! The behaviors they have towards each other are sooooooo telling, I don’t know how come people still doubt about their love. Yes, there was sex with Zeke, Tobin, Ed, but this “thing” with Daryl is called L.O.VE. I suffered seeing him so disconnected and unraveled after that night, like he was coming apart because his CENTER WAS GONE. Yes, he was recovering from everything he went through with the Saviors, but also this sudden “loss” of Carol hit him hard! Yes, Carol chose the fairytale but I believe 💯 that one single word from Daryl would’ve changed EVERYTHING! And, she wanted to raise Henry. We all know that Henry and the corny life were the major reasons to move in that direction. AND THANK YOU, SHALAKA: She didn’t say yes to the proposal, just that she would think about it. So odd, no excitement, no illusions or romance. I HOPE WITH ALL MY HEART THAT THIS SECOND TIME AROUND SHE WILL EXPERIENCE ALL THE EMOTION, THE EXCITEMENT, THE ROMANCE SHE DESERVES AND DARYL AS WELL. THEY DESERVE IT, THEY DESERVE EACH OTHER AND ALL THE HAPPINESS THAT TWD WORLD CAN GIVE THEM ❤️‍🔥💯

I WAS GOING NUTS analyzing the voice “tell me a story” on that sunset scene between Daryl and Isabelle… NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING, NOT WHAT I WANTED, IT MADE ME UNCOMFORTABLE, NOT EXCITED. To the point that I had to retire at that moment and was only able to watch the preview later on. SO, I WAS A VICTIM OF EMOTIONAL MARKETING. I’M NOT HERE TO SEE ISABELLE HAVING CUTE MOMENTS WITH DARYL, I DON’T LIKE THE AMBIGUITY, I DON’T LIKE TO BE TOYED WITH. I AM STILL HERE AFTER MORE THAN A DECADE TO SEE DARYL AND CAROL PROFESS THEIR LOVE FOR EACH OTHER AND BECOME A CERTIFIED CANON ROMANTIC COUPLE. I LIVE WITH THE HOPE OF THEM BECOMING A REALITY. I LIVE FOR THE DAY WHEN WE GET A PRO-CARYL SHOW-RUNNER, SOMEONE WHO WILL REALLY GET THEIR RELATIONSHIP RIGHT AND WILL GIVE US, THEIR FANS, THE ONES WHO HAVE BEEN LOYAL TO CARYL THROUGHOUT SO MANY YEARS, WHAT WE’VE BEEN HOPING FOR. I didn’t like the longing and anguish in Carol’s voice 😩 I’m soooooo GRATEFUL THAT MELISSA IS BACK AND SAD TO SAY THAT I LIVE FOR EVERY LITTLE CRUMB THEY TOSS AT ME AND EVERY MOMENT WHEN I SEE HER ON MY SCREEN!!! TO SEE HER ON HIS BIKE, WITH HIS CROSSBOW… I LIVE FOR IT. I WANT A SPIN-OFF CENTERED ON DARYL AND CAROL ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

Awwwwww, Shalaka! Are you feeling better?????????????? This is my all-time favorite Caryl episode. I’ll listen to your discussion several times 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 When he reclined back down next to her in that bunk bed the air escaped my lungs… He didn’t ask for permission, he just feels THAT COMFORTABLE with her. That conversation in the office when he asks her and she answers: It’s like you were a kid but now you are a man! He always asks her how does she see him and looks for that reassurance. Several times he’s asked her, who do you see in me? SHE SEES HIM. Before the ambulance falls, she reaches out for his hand and FOLLOWS HIM even if it might mean dying, agrees with him as long as they do it together, but he keeps reassuring her: Hold on! If it was just him, no matter. But, she’s here with him about to probably crash and die, and that changes things for him. If I die, fine, but not her!! He’s so protective of her!! All the good will towards Noah went flying out of the window when he put Carol in danger, and HE COMPLETELY LOST IT WHEN SHE WAS RAN OVER. I had NEVER seen him react like that. Those reactions are reserved for “Carol in danger” scenarios. He escalated to DEFCON 1 and rushed back immediately to get the army and return to rescue her. He took Noah with him to the community without a second thought, precautions be damned. I love that this episode IS ALL THEM. I love the intimate feel between them even in the midst of the mission to rescue Beth. It’s our first glimpse to the fact that they are so interesting and engrossing that the two of them together could carry an entire episode by themselves, they could carry the series, they could have a spin off. I LOVE CONSUMED ❤️‍🔥

The Terminus Reunion Story: Hubby and I were at our first home in Atlanta, about to enjoy the highlight of our week: Watching The Walking Dead together. I never watched tv series, didn’t have the patience. I like to watch movies, just beginning and end, period. But, my husband likes the genre and somehow persuaded me. And this one was different… Caryl HOOKED me from the get-go and it wouldn’t let me go. It changed me forever and the way I perceived tv shows. THIS WAS MY FIRST AND ONLY TV SHOW. Because of THEM: Daryl and Carol. Watching the show became our weekly ritual as a couple. I almost lost it and wanted to stop when Rick banished Carol. But, my husband convinced me to keep going, he didn’t want to watch it alone. Boy… Was I JOYFUL when she came back!!!! Hubby said: Carol’s BACK, I told you so... It was Sunday, October 12, 2014. I remember vividly him making homemade popcorn, our favorite drinks, comfy pj’s and fav blankets, cellphones silenced… It’s TIME for The Walking Dead’s Season 5 Premiere!!!! Carol was back and with her, my HOPES FOR CARYL. I was looking forward to the show again. Hopeful!!!! Oh my God… The entire episode, the way she strategized, navigated the walkers, the way she was just in time, the explosion blew me away together with Terminus, she rescued them (AND RECOVERED HIS CROSSBOW, Ed/Rick’s watch…) BUT, WHEN HE SAW HER TIMIDLY EMERGING FROM THE WOODS, (they were all in shock), BUT HIS FACE!!!!!!!!!! HE RAN TO HER, THEY EMBRACED, HE LIFTED HER UP, HE WAS PANTING, TOUCHED HER HEAD, STAYED THERE IN THE SAFETY OF THAT EMBRACE, AT LAST HE DISENGAGED AND LOOKED AT HER AGAIN, (ALMOST NOT BELIEVING IT) RESTED HIS HEAD ON HER SHOULDER… I WAS SCREAMING AND MY HUSBAND WAS HOLDING ME, NO WORDS WERE NECESSARY. I felt relieved, I felt joyful, I felt hopeful, I felt uplifted, I felt excited, I felt every darn good thing that a darn good show is supposed to make you feel. Daryl stepped back but stayed close to her when Rick came over and broke the silence. And on their way back to Tyreese and Judith, Carol and Daryl were walking next to each other, leading the way, and the whole world was made right again. And I KNEW that I would watch THIS SHOW UNTIL THE END. AND I DID. I’m part of The Ones Who Stayed. For THEM. FOR CARYL. 🔥🔥🔥

I’ve mentioned this to you guys before. One of my favorite all-time Carol scenes is roasting pecans with the girls at the little cottage in the middle of Georgia. It’s a testament to how resourceful Carol is and how she can make-do with whatever she has at hand to make a HOME out of ANY circumstance. If you are sensitive to those details, you will feel like me, that Carol’s place always felt like “home”. No one else’s dwelling in the show ever felt like that to me. That little country cottage making memories with the girls and the wonderful smells of freshly roasted pecans, so dear to us here in GA… Oh boy, you almost forget the Apocalypse and that they are managing to survive. That’s ALL Carol. Since the very beginning: Be it in a car with Ed giving snacks to Carl and child-sitting him and Sophia, a tent with a bonfire serving breakfast at the farm, a jail cell cooking for all at the prison yard, a house in Alexandria baking casseroles, cookies and watching Judith through the baby monitor, a little house in the outskirts of the Kingdom making dinner for Daryl at the fireplace, making soup out of scrapes to save all from starving, an apartment in the Commonwealth making pancakes for the kids, HOME IS WHERE SHE IS. Her nature is all nurture and warmth. It’s easy for some to forget that and judge her for her actions. Because she’s a woman. Rick did worse in so many instances, but he was deemed a hero. Because he’s a man. His actions were justified because he did it all to save the community, to save the group, to save his family. CAROL DID IT TOO, same motivation behind her actions! She’s groundbreaking, unconventional, unfiltered, unapologetic, fiercely protective, powerful, formidable, strategic, brilliant, and we would like to be part of her family and for her to protect us and come to our rescue at the end of the world. Poll after poll, the show’s audience agrees on that. I want to see THAT portrayed in the promo: SHE WOULD GO TO THE END OF THE WORLD FOR HIM. NO AMBIGUITY. DARYL IS EVERYTHING TO CAROL. CAROL IS EVERYTHING TO DARYL. They are each other’s HOME and the way I see it, nothing else will work and no one else will do. Just sayin’… #Caryl #TheBookOfCarol #TWDFamily #CarylPodcast #DarylDixon #CarolPeletier #MelissaMcBride #NormanReedus #NineLives2Mics

THANK YOU for answering my question and bringing this arc, its delicate subject, and the man that we all love and admire, Daryl, to the CORRECT PERSPECTIVE. Protector, mentor, nurturer, and guardian… His real nature and essence is what makes us keep coming back for more, more of that uniqueness. WE WANT MORE OF THAT, WE WANT HIM BACK, we are starving for the real and unconventional Daryl, this world needs more men like him. And the spin-off needs to BRING HIM BACK. He’s the man that Carol deserves and that all of us, his undying fans, WANT BACK!
