Dennis quaid gets compared to Val Kilmer a lot for this now I don’t see Val being able to pull this off as well, then again I don’t see Dennis doing well in Tombstone. It’s just unfortunate Wyatt Earp was dry as hell

This scene is so utterly sublime and speaks volumes. This is exactly why Wyatt Earp is a vastly superior film to Tombstone. Val Kilmer's pudgy face covered in makeup is pathetic compared to Dennis Quaid's masterful portrayal of an extremely dangerous man who is slowly dying before our eyes.

Dennis Quaid lost weight for the role and looked more like the real man. Great performance and imho, the better of the two.

The duck of death thought He was the man, than you have little Bill who in his own right was a bad man..but they pale in comparison, when William Money comes..

I think Kilmer gave the more memorable performance. But, quad more accurately looked the part.

William Munny probably became a bigger legend because of what the writer Beauchamp witnessed. Most likely wrote a book about it.

I still remember watching this over my parents and they came in from a night out. my late father who was a massive clint eastwood and western fan caught the last 20 mins and was genuinely shocked i still remember his shocked face at this scene like it was yesterday 😂

I loved tombstone so watched this the other night, no idea why it gets the hate! was a fantastic movie, that explores wyatt's whole life instead of just the tombstone chapter. Dennis Quaid played Doc just as good as Kilmer in my opinion, just a different style. Don't know why people hate just because theres more options.

Remember watching this in the theatre and getting chills down my spine listening to that last line. William Munny was one of the most brutal killers in all Westerns. The ultimate anti-hero.

I prefer Dennis Quaid's version of Doc myself. Had the movie not been so long, I think it would have outshined Tombstone IMO. Costner plays a much better Earp than Russell too; WAY more dark! 👍👌

I like both performances of Doc but I like Quaid’s better. Quaid comes off as real man and Kilmer’s although so fun to watch is a James Bondish character. Fun to watch, but not real at all.

Wyatt is fearless, Doc nearly hacked up a lung into his hand, then extends that same hand to Wyatt as a gesture of friendship. Not quite sure how I would have handled that one.

0:39 That look that he gives net is very layered. There is the grief, but there's also the guilt. The guilt of bringing him into this, as well as the guilt that he feels for breaking his sobriety, knowing that Ned would never have wanted him to do that on his behalf. Will started out, saying this job doesn't mean he returns to his old ways. He broke his word to himself and his wife to honor his friendship with Ned and right now he's feeling low about it, not in the least victorious.

Both 1994 portrayals of Doc Holliday were great. Kilmer was great for the memes. Quaid is actually very intimidating. His dark, hateful eyes look like Holliday's eyes. The cough is that of a man who's time is ticking.
