Mearsheimer is useful to listen to, but he is mistaken about a critical point: Israel's principal agenda in Gaza is the destruction of Hamas. They are willing to tolerate civilian casualties, mass displacements, and a raft of harm to Palestinian children to achieve this objective, but Israel's agenda is not ethnic cleansing. They are after the destruction of Hamas and will do almost whatever is necessary to achieve this objective, much as the Allies were willing to tolerate immense civilian harm to defeat the Nazis. Those Palestinian kids should've been let out of the war zone last October.

Israel demands democracy to be crushed in the countries surrounding it. USA, under orders from Israel, crushes democracy. For example, USA had the democratically elected Morsi killed by the military, in Egypt. Saud, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, UAE.... all are US protected dictatorships (aka 'kings') where you can be beheaded or killed if ask for Democracy. USA protects these dictators. Some of my family is Jewish. But they are not zionists. We have talked about this at length. A number of Jews protested the creation of Israel, a miscue from the scriptures. In the 1940s there was debate in the Jewish community about going into :Palestine and taking their land. Even the Jewish- family led New York Times raised both sides of the issue. This is a relatively new nation, from the 1940s, in another case of forced domination. Many Jews, Christians and Moslems got along for a very long time until governments and radicals forced this issue. This whole thing would collapse without the U.S. people. I agree with Prof. Mearsheimer's saying. He could say more, but he didn't. Maybe he knows no matter what he says, there is no solution. It is a proxy war. Just like Ukraine, Irsael have to fight.
