Ok bud this may be a stupid question is this similar to the reflex system they install into fms birds? I never heard of this system before and I normally use spektrum receivers and I do like the idea of having safe if I do get into a mess in flight by just flicking the switch. So call me dumb but am I understanding this is what it does if you use a non safe receiver from spektrum and its like the reflex mod used in fms birds? if not explain to me what it is?? thanks and I gave you a sub and like and thanks for sharing.👍👍👍👍👍

Great video! I just bought that kill switch for a 5th scale gas buggy. I also had that exact Hobbico Avistar trainer plane. It was my first fly plane as well, 2000 I think. The original owner built it with the wing angled to where it would do loops from what I remember. I traded it for an old ABC Hobby NorthWind 28-400 sailboat and a glider (aprx 9ft wing span) with a Cox style, wing-top engine to get it up in the air (ran out of fuel quickly). I don't remember the model name. Believe or not I think I have that same radio you showed as well, still have it best I remember. I worked with a man that was into RC airplanes for aprx 20yrs and he was retiring (2003). He sold me his life long collection of RC planes, radios, rx, servos, props, etc. He sold the collection because he wanted to buy a RV to travel in after retirement. He sold it all for what he still needed to buy the RV. I have a room full of vintage plane items as well as old pancar items, mostly Bolink cars...lol. I'm now mainly running boats, 5th scale gas/electric trucks, and 4wd brushless trucks. I'm glad to see people enjoying the old school RC's still. It's also nice to see the old school items wanted & not shrugged apon. I can imagine your son will be flying at an early age if not already flying. Anyway, thanks again for the video and for bringing back some memories too! RC for life right? Have a good one!

Had the exact same plane (50cc) decades ago until I totally re-kitted it in a tree line I thought I was in front of coming out of a split-s for a long, low inverted pass into a knife edge climb out. Best flying plane I ever owned! Once put a grass stain on vertical stab! Now I have the FMS Pitts 1400 as ceiling art only though fully RTF. I even spin the prop and flex the flight surfaces a bit from my recliner just for grins with a storage charged 6s, undersized 2200mah LiPo that I properly store again afterwards. Thanks for the memory trip of a gorgeous looking RC aircraft.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have had nothing but problems with my newly purchased NX10. One of the gimbal limiter access panel covers fell off, screen saver was peeling, took it off, screen below scratches very easy. Handl in the back broke off from me hardly putting any weight when standing up, and then the aluminum carrying case hardly fits the controller. Overall unimpressed and would give the company two stars. I am a medium intermediate helicopter pilot and a advanced-intermediate rc airplane pilot

Thank You Eric. After over 45 years in RC, I actually learned something new. It was your turning the plastic servo star to line up perfectly. For all this time, I have simply adjusted the servo neutral with the servo trim adjustment on my Futaba 9CAP TX. Yes, my 9C is 27 years old, and still works perfectly. I send it into the Futaba repare center, and have everything checked over, and to replace a thing or two. So far, only 1 capacitor, and my right stick, mode II. Thanks again!

JR would be my 2nd choice, but heard recently about its demise, so Futaba it is😊

Let's say, something happens, like the opti-kill fails, there is a video of a large size gas plane dead sticking. This occurred later in the flight, so all was functioning for some time. The cause according to the video was the opti-kill. It can be used for other functions, but from a point of safety, it is primarily handling throttle failures. For me"the juice ain't worth the squeeze"

Raywillett2157 Try using a proper mix of 50/50 30 minute epoxy….then thin it again 50/50 with the premixed epoxy and as high a percentage rubbing alcohol you can find. Should provide a decent seal and a light weight shell for protection…. That’s how I always sealed uncovered balsa and ply engine bays in R/C glow and gas planes

And to be clear on my earlier comment, I lost the plane when contact was lost and it flew into the ground. But I don't blame that on Futaba. It could have been because of a battery issue or a faulty connector. The RCSB investigation wasn't able to determine a probable cause.

As a beginner, I made the mistake of taking advice from an "expert" at my club and went with a Futaba 8FG Super. WORST ADVICE EVER. Don't get me wrong. The Futaba works fine. But I couldn't get a buddy box to work with anyone at the field. I should have listened to my intuition and gone with Spektrum in the first place.

  • @bigskyhobbycorner603

I did some arfs as well to shorten each build series but there are helpful tips that can be applied in most aspects of assembling/building rc airplanes.
