Great video! I just bought that kill switch for a 5th scale gas buggy. I also had that exact Hobbico Avistar trainer plane. It was my first fly plane as well, 2000 I think. The original owner built it with the wing angled to where it would do loops from what I remember. I traded it for an old ABC Hobby NorthWind 28-400 sailboat and a glider (aprx 9ft wing span) with a Cox style, wing-top engine to get it up in the air (ran out of fuel quickly). I don't remember the model name. Believe or not I think I have that same radio you showed as well, still have it best I remember. I worked with a man that was into RC airplanes for aprx 20yrs and he was retiring (2003). He sold me his life long collection of RC planes, radios, rx, servos, props, etc. He sold the collection because he wanted to buy a RV to travel in after retirement. He sold it all for what he still needed to buy the RV. I have a room full of vintage plane items as well as old pancar items, mostly Bolink cars...lol. I'm now mainly running boats, 5th scale gas/electric trucks, and 4wd brushless trucks. I'm glad to see people enjoying the old school RC's still. And to be clear on my earlier comment, I lost the plane when contact was lost and it flew into the ground. But I don't blame that on Futaba. It could have been because of a battery issue or a faulty connector. The RCSB investigation wasn't able to determine a probable cause.

As a beginner, I made the mistake of taking advice from an "expert" at my club and went with a Futaba 8FG Super. WORST ADVICE EVER. Don't get me wrong. The Futaba works fine. But I couldn't get a buddy box to work with anyone at the field. I should have listened to my intuition and gone with Spektrum in the first place.

Nothing wrong with Spektrum. They are tailored for the beginner and a bit more user friendly. Use what best suits you and your needs. I just recently added JR to my radios. I am getting in to turbines and JR has options that are more tailored for turbine operations.

Should provide a decent seal and a light weight shell for protection…. That’s how I always sealed uncovered balsa and ply engine bays in R/C glow and gas planes
Good instructional video, I forgot to bind this receiver to my TX and now I know, thanks to you. I give Thumbs Up!
@@bigskyhobbycorner603 Way cool! Hope to see some videos soon. I just acquired a NIB Great Planes Avistar 30cc (I know you're quite familiar with that!). I am trying to decide whether to stick with the Futaba or go with Spektrum on that one because I basically walked away from the sport after losing and expensive plane. So I am still learning.
@@bigskyhobbycorner603 Love your channel!!
Awesome on the 30cc avistar! I love that bird. Either radio should be fine. Just make sure to run adequate MhA power for all of the servos so you don't run out of power in flight. Thank you for the kind words. I started this chanel to help take the fear of building. I did some arfs as well to shorten each build series but there are helpful tips that can be applied in most aspects of assembling/building rc airplanes. As far as the turbines go, we all know those are very expensive, this chanel being funded by me, it's going to take a while to get to the point where I can make videos lol.
Hi dear sir Tell me pleas what glued used covering this SIG koveral?
To hold down the fabric to the wood os sig stix in an earlier video I talk about the supplies needed
First I would say, i do admire your honesty in regards to your health condition. As not many, specially men would admit that they've lost control of their situation. As someone who suffers similar mental health condition which by the way I am diagnosed as Bipolar effective, I do believe that the first step of treatment is to accept that you are sick and needed a medical assistance. I'm still a BiPolar and likely will not changes in the near future but the difference with me now compared to what was I before, is i learned to recognised my issue and seek help when i needed to. I now worked as volunteer STEM Teacher to Local Public school and with my renew interest in RC Aero Modelling it does help a lot. I used to be a senior technologist & an analyst, before i switch to as volunteer STEM Teacher. I managed to organised a three people STEM Community Education Non Profit group where we offer STEM EDUCATION & 3D Printing Lesson to community and low income family. And like you I love this aero modelling hobby - I'm scratch builder of SCALE Aircraft . P.S. If you need someone to talk to just PM me and i'll send you my email address. Btw I do have a question regarding SIG SUPERCOAT Butyrate - can I used this to seal & smoothen the SIG Coverall?? Thanks in Advance.
First, thank you for offering an ear to talk to. It means more than you think. I will have to hit you up on that sometime. And yes you can seal with that.
Glade to see you back with a new video and an update.
Thanks buddy, my life has been all over the place the last couple of years
Good to see you back. Did you ever find something about putting koverall on with polycrillic?
It would be fine to paint the koverall with the poly but still need to use Stix it to bond the fabric to the airframe
What happened to covering the wing? Where's the video?
Why must Spectrum have multiple satellites to ensure proper signal and Futaba only needs two antenna? Ask yourself and answer that question.
Thinking I will build an electric version four-star star 60. Would you venture a guesstimate on what the build time would be including covering with mono coat or ultra coat type covering? Think I prefer the size of the 60 versus the ARF 64. Thanks.
Build times vary drastically. It all depends on the builder. I built one of these years ago in 8 hours. Worked on it straight through so I could go race it the next day. I've also seen this kit built in a span over 10 months. It is all up to the builder, their experience, and the hours they have available to work on it
Is that butyrate dope your using over the tape joints or Nitrate dope?
Indeed it is
Butyrate
I just bought a 30cc sbach with this system. Did have a freaking clue what the story was. Thanks for the video.

Yeah I got one of those with a saito 56 and got a 60 size yet to build!
