    If a coil or plug is bad, the MIL light will illuminate and a code will be stored. Trailblazers, Envoys etc with 4.2 liter L6 allows rain to leak past hood gasket and pool in spark plug wells. The water will melt plug electrodes or short out coils. Delphi coils are a must. Cheaper are available but you get what you pay for.

    motor mount , vvt selonoid , camshaft position sensor , crankshaft position sensor , and im sure the knock sensors are going crazy , you can pull one coil wire at a time , if it stops when one is pulled that's you bad coil or plug , if not the coils and plugs are good ...

    If it wasn’t running like that before you put the plugs and coils on, you introduced a new problem. Make sure all your plugs are gapped and seated. Make sure you have the coils seated on the plug correctly. Did you put some dielectric grease on the boots of the coils? Do you have the harness connected to the coils correctly?

    I have to ask, does (or did) your trailblazer make like this very faint sort of knock? Kind of sounded like it's towards the back or middle section of the engine? Trying to chase down a noise.

  • @GroundhogzGarage
    @GroundhogzGarage4 ай бұрын

    No. No knocking noise. Could be a broken engine or transmission mount.

    If I ever have one that I can't get off with my hands, I just go with a cap socket with a socket wrench. It gives the leverage without damaging the can. Yah sometimes it sucks getting the filter off the socket, but I've never had to resort to extreme methods to remove a filter.

    Great video and presentation. Pretty much the steps I am going through on my Boat's 6.0 Chevy. I am surprised that no one seems to have tried to get some WD40 into the treads or around the gasket. Is this an impossibility? I am considering how this might be done. Any thoughts?

  • @GroundhogzGarage
    @GroundhogzGarage5 ай бұрын

    Let me start by saying, there is telling how long that filter had been on my car. Could have been a decade or more. At least in my case, I don’t see how it would have been able to work DW40 under the gasket given the lack of space.

    Thanks great stuff. My 05 yukon melted connector its the 2nd redoo.. I decided to hotwire the blower motor and cut all the other wires. Then Connect to battery ( 05 yukon( or that red box below has a huge + wire for the alternator), 12guage wire. Inline 20amp fuse. To a new heavy duty toggle switch that has bigger screws. Then run wire to blower motor. I was told either wire can be hot. Other wire ground but i have to make it, drill hole in fire wall and hex head self tapper. My rear heat also went out after i disconnected the battery because I've got a parasite draw in my door lock switch. So each night i have to diconnect neg side battery and in morning reconnect, if it fails to put out heat then i disconnect again and after a minute reconnect. It's always something with these money pits 😮😢. Winter camping in minneapolis suburbs. 😔

    seems like the filters come off a bit easier if the filter is warm and silicone grease on the gaskets seems to prevent sticking better than oil.

    @@GroundhogzGarage It was for me, the first time I replaced the plugs, the wire bundle over the #1 Cylinder was so tight, that I had a hard time getting the coil back on correctly and was getting misfires. Took me about 3 or 4 attempts before I finally got it on correctly. Now after 18+ years, and 445K miles, the wire bundle has loosened and it is easier now.
