    Umm... these are about 15000.00 to 16,000.00 more expensive than other options that I'd venture perform better. State of the art GAN is sub 2k, Purifi can be had for around 1k.

    While I appreciate advancements in technology and the benefits of Class D amplifiers, I can't help but question the pricing of some products. Class D amplifiers are known for being cost-effective to produce while still delivering ample power and decent sound quality. Therefore, it seems unreasonable for someone to ask $10K+ for any Class D amp. This pricing likely involves a massive markup, possibly in the range of 1000%. While some audiophiles may be willing to pay such prices, I believe that in a few years, many Class D amps will sound as good as their expensive counterparts, making such high prices seem unjustified.

    Will u consider lowering the retail price! ? Will u send the web link for international shipping ? And keep us in loop if u have a promotion coming up? Need to plan for such an upgrade to your this new branding.

    I have been sitting in front of speakers in commercial recording studios for 30+, working. When I am not working and at home listening to some music maybe having a drink the last thing that want in front of me is a load of drivers staring at me. The Grill/s that are supplied with the entry level consumer range ATC should offer two choices and one of those should be a cover that visually blocks you from viewing any drivers.

    l have the Active 50s. What a gem. They capture the mood of anything I put on. Need it fast and lively its there, need a slow burn very intimate its there too. The most balanced presentation from top to bottom with no crashing in the crossover ranges and this holds as you crank them all the way up. They are just such a fun speaker/err monitor I only wish they had a friendlier price point. I mean I get they have 3 amps internally also included but they have really skyrocketed in pricing in recent years. So they have really given away that value benefit they use to have now it seems like a wash. I'm curious how they stake up against open baffles. Will have a chance to compare with the new Caladans from Clayton Shaw soon so I can't wait.

    Anybody compared AGD amps to Orchand Audio GaN Amplifiers or Topping LA90 discrete (class AB, state of the art in measurements)?

    Seem interesting now if they cut the price in half they would have something but their prices keep too many from ever trying the product is a shame.

    It was 7500 now is 8600. Part of the intrigue of class D was their lower price. There is one other well regarded competitor to AGD that is cheaper. But considering how hot class D amps are right now I'm sure there is gonna be alot of other company's making similar strides at a much more reasonable cost so we can all enjoy.

    Considering the AGD amps are using a bespoke audio GaN Fet, when the competitors are using industrial GaN devices, and is besting amps in the $25k and up class … I’d say the performance per dollar is quite good. If the price doesn’t suit, then it’s not the amp for you. Try a Jeff Rowland 125 at $4k

    good video as ATC does not do a great job explaining this subject matter, Some super cool things about ATC; -by virtue of their product line, they essentially acknowledge zero performance differences between ‘studio’ and ‘home’ a longstanding myth that has been perpetuated without merit -passive speaker equivalents to many of their actives, nobody really does this -still creating sealed configurations -sold at pro audio shops worldwide and hence accessible for audition -still made in UK Would like to maybe see lower price premiums towards less dated designs/finishes and also some experimentation with DSP

    I own the AGD Audion. Incredible amps! They walk all over a lot of very high end A and AB amps. They provide that tube sweetnes with the power and slam of the best AB and class D amps! Extremely refined, fast and natural amps with zero listening fatigue! Incredible customer service as well!

    What I would really like to know...and Alberto isnt the one to ask obviously....is what Pre-Amps work best for any of these models. Ive heard Tube Pre's are preferred but a list of brands with strengths/weaknesses of each would be awesome.

  • @theaudiophilezone

    The AGD Alto is the obvious choice, the sonic signature matches very well and of course it is dead quiet. If you prefer a tubier sound, I'd suggest the Jadis line, which are extremely well regarded and beautifully finished.

  • @billiondollarbaby3276
    @billiondollarbaby3276 Жыл бұрын

    @@theaudiophilezone Thanks. Jadis unfortunately has extremely limited interest and resale value. The "usual suspects" that are available the most often and easy to flip are brands like LTA, Luxman, Shindo, CJ etc. Cant remember the last time I saw a Jadis Pre-Amp on AudioMart or Audiogon or anybody looking for one

    wow, i feel justified in my jazz stances by the fact that some of my opinions parallel those of people i respect such as those in this episode of YT. in particular, the point about Oscar Peterson playing too many notes, something i have often voiced to friends at the LA/OC Audio Society meetings in conversation. i also have the same feeling about Errol Garner, with Misty being an outlier. i would love to see more episodes like this in the future. hearing Tom's anecdotes about the musicians he has interviewed and the familiarity of all of you with Kevin Gray, a real master of mastering recordings. maybe an episode with him at his new recording studio and his future plans for dome direct-to-disc recording! keep them coming guys! ...hifitommy
