My uncle was a homicide/major felony detective in Madison. I've only been there a few times. I have an interest in tornadoes. I found this presentation to be interesting and well formatted for KZread.

I remember a store, right down from where Miller’ Supermarket was, 1969 ish, that had cute “stuff”. I wish I knew the name. Sweet memories…

This is so awesome ❤ when you say the walls were lined with books, I want you to know that when we were little me and my brother and my sister, my grandmother used to pick this lady up and bring her to our house. She would bring a bag of books and read to us we loved it.

I was 10 years old and remember what a great parade that was! Area communities participated in droves! If I recall correctly I think that parade lasted well over two hours! Great video!

The faded film makes it look like 1972 was a long time ago!

I just found this video. Thank you. I grew up in Verona and remember the house and the farm very well. In the autumn of 1980 I sat in the ditch across Raymond Road and made a watercolor of the barn and the cement building closer to the road. One of my favorite paintings from the time. I'm glad to know the house will be preserved.

It sure is - good spot! It's a treasure; still standing and mostly unaltered from it's school days... I have some other notes in the video details under "show more" about which side of the school it was, etc. -Jesse

Because my sister, Barb Sweet Cash, has found it impossible to comment on this video, I am quoting and posting on her behalf. “I have traveled Highway M regularly for many years, and as an old house lover, have enjoyed seeing a remnant of the mid-nineteenth century still standing. Once it became evident that we would be undergoing massive road construction, I feared for the future of this little house, each time expecting to drive by and see only a trace of the foundation on the ground. Imagine my surprise and delight to stumble onto this video and learn that it not only will continue to stand, but that inside is a treasure-trove, a testimony to its owner’s love for the house and its history! Thank you, Marie, for your care, love and a fresh coat of paint, and thank you to the Verona Historical Society for making this available!”
